Little League.
That's the comedian Brian Regan, with some YouTubish animation by some guy.
By the way, why do adults teach children to be assholes? Is there some purpose to that? Maybe!

Brian Regan! Is anyone else here a Brian Regan fan? He's my favorite stand-up comedian.
Physical humor is a big part of his act, though - you have to see him to fully appreciate him.
Here's a clip to get you started.
Yeah, I love him.
Baseball is easy to learn with many rules and can be played in any neighborhood field. Even hispanics seem able to learn the rules. The extra asshole talents coaches teach are meant to familiarize young men with how to insult up to a fine line; a line that is not against the rules which can cause ejection. David Letterman never played baseball, I suspect.
Hilarious Althouse.
Trad guy is right- they are trying to teach fair competition. We never took anyone's gum in little league. He made that part up. :)
My younger kids love Brian Regan -- the have many of his routines memorized. Ordinarily such shenanigans drive me batty, but when it's Brian Regan I dissolve in laughter.
I've seen him live a couple of times, and last time, his brother Dennis Regan opened for him. He was really funny too, in a more low-key way.
Great to see some Brian Regan love!
I never understood the purpose of chatter until my own kids started to play.
The kids are out in the field dreaming of snow cones and then a hard baseball comes flying at them and if they're not paying attention that could be bad.
Chatter makes the kids aware when...you know... the batter is gonna suh-wing.
Love Brian Regan!
I first saw him on You Tube, talking about going to the Emergency Room for stomach pain, while I was waiting to transfer to the hospital for an appendectomy! No kidding! I laughed so hard it - well it already hurt. But I actually didn't fear the operation quite as much after seeing his take on doctors and hospitals. I told my surgeon about the clip and he said "Iknow! I love Brian Regan!"
Even hispanics seem able to learn the rules.
That's a poor choice of words, even for a hispanic who happens to read.

There are some aspects of the game that mimic 'real life' a lot closer (in my opinion) than any other game.
Take the stolen base for example. If you cant keep the other team honest either by intimidation or by sheer ability of catcher with a good arm the other team will steal the base.
If you don't pay attention at your job or with your clients somebody else will take that promotion from you or take that client away from you.
There is no entitlement in baseball.
Even hispanics seem able to learn the rules.
"so easy, a caveman could do it"
I am totally down with chatter at adult sports too. I can just see Woods, or Mickelson, or Els lined up over a 12-footer for birdie and a million dollars on the 18th green on Sunday afternoon. From the crowd:
"Hey, putter putter putter! SWING!"
My younger kids love Brian Regan
So do your older ones.
That's very cute. Yes, right field was the humiliating sentence to Siberia, wasn't it?
I'll have to check it to some more of his work. He's funny.
Lem... Of course hispanics learn baseball rules, even better than that other race called white men, and do so with empthetic smiles on their faces while they keep all of the rules of the game of inches. Felipe Alou was a favorite on the Atlanta Braves in 1966.Then again, no body could do more damage within the rules than the Georgia Peach, Ty Cobb.
My wife and I love to watch Bryan Regan. We also listen to him on long drives.
Quite often during the day, we will exchange text messages such as "If the whole planet is of them, then that would explain all of these apes" and "that Zipper is surly".
@Sid Yeah, chez Althouse, we like to say "Zipper is surly." If anyone says the word "surly," we feel compelled to say "Zipper is surly."
