... when I noticed the time stamp on this "compose window." 5:58 AM. Almost 3 hours ago. I don't think I've ever sat down, opened Blogger to start my morning blogging session, and let so much time pass. I'm resetting the time. There. How did I spend 3 hours?
Oh, I'm not going to blog about that. I'm going to post this, start a new window, and blog about something substantive.
And while you're waiting for that, why don't you confess to how you wasted time?

Got up, checked the blogs. You're third after Drudge and Instapundit. No post! So I hit the treadmill and put on the oatmeal. Now, just this! Well maybe soon.
I've wasted a lot of time waiting for you to blog.
Allen, you should have exercised, like TJ.
I just spent the last 9 hours sleeping-refreshing!
I didn't dream of Althouse last night (that was a different time) but I did just waste about a minute finding that link.
I awoke at 4 am. I start my exercise routine of weight lifting and sit-ups immeidiately after I crap, about 4:30.
I also need my mental exercise, so I had to wait.
Wasted time? Ah, commenting on your blog???
Time flies. Today is the half way point for the year 2009. Will it all be downhill from here as the distance runner thinks to himself?
I can't waste time this morning. It is Tuesday: maintenance day on WoW so I can't log in and waste the usual hour before going to work.
I've leveled 2 characters to 80 and have 3 more at 60 or better and that's just my Hordies. Top that for long term time wasting!
Actually, in the mornings my husband and I browse the net on our separate computers, discuss the world and sometimes laugh at the articles while alternating who gets the coffee. We are discussing your post right now Ann. Then we go to work.
The usual morning workday routine - an hour to get up, shower and get out the door, biking to work.
BTW, did I miss something or did we just jump ahead to fall?
AllenS,
"I awoke at 4 am. I start my exercise routine ... about 4:30."
Wow, you must have done something really reprehensible in a former life!
:-)
-Kirk (most definitely not a morning person)
kathy -- totally. I am SO cold! Oh well, it'll change soon enough.
Most of the time I’ve wasted has had to do with some kind of tick I have about thinking up a more efficient way of doing something.
Not only doesn’t what I need to get done, not get done, I start to avoid the whole thing altogether.
Example. My work area is a disaster, and my inbox is always around 1000.
I've become really good at losing track of time 5 minutes before I'm supposed to do something. I'm on track before those last 5 minutes, but then I blow it.
I like going to Google Books and finding some old book to read. Then, when I come to something that strikes me as interesting I research it in other books or the rest of the internet.
I can jump from one subject to another and end up in all sorts of places I never knew existed.
Sometimes I'll just look up words and see how they were used in the past.
It's a sort of autodidactic orgasm.
