Thanks for saying high ghost of 4th President James Madison, no disrespect to you, but could you hook me up with the ghost of your hot wife, Dolley? I'm betting she's just as fetching in her current supernatural form as she was in life. I'm assuming ghosts get to choose the aspect of themselves they project to the living, so I'd think an ectoplasmic young Dolley would be a lot of fun.
Greetings from sunny California, where we have, erm, thunderstorms in the forecast, which I totally don't get, because there's not a cloud in the sky (I guess that's the thing with thunderstorms; they're intense and brief and a little unpredictable [although, there they are in the forecast, *predicted*] what-evs).
I'm drunk.
Anyhow, I sent you something in the mail today. Enjoy! (or not, it doesn't matter to me.)
Glad your trip was safe. Have a couple of beers and brats at State Street Brats on me. Tell them to put it on my tab. I use the name "Elroy Hirsch" when I'm in Madison.
Hey, if Meade's with you, take him there. I think he'd like the place.
I mean, I know that she's got this walloping big 80 ton Mack truck full of happiness and bliss thing and all, and she should be in Cinncy with Meade whenever possible, but her absence from WI was noted.
Maybe it's just the we need all the taxpayers we can get here in Taxiconsin.
Anyhow, I was thinking about it because my wife and I are going to be in Madison next Friday for the wedding of wife's best friend.
She's 40 something, first marriage, found the right guy and blammo! It all sort of whooshed together in a cosmic array of total rightness and here we are.
So I have a cocktail (gin and tonic this evening) and think about the blammo! and whooshing! that bring people unexpectedly to where they are and I get all happy that I got blammo'd and whoosh'd a few years back, and I'm happy that my wife's buddy is getting likewise, and so is Althouse. Ain't karma fantastic?

Thanks for posting that story, Michael. As someone who's hoping for his own "blammo!" moment down the road, it's encouraging to be reminded that these things do happen from time to time.
And welcome back, Althouse! It's been fun reading you at Instapundit this week (if memory serves, one of your previous guest stints over there is where i first ran across your writing, lo, those many years ago....)
Are you going to be in Madison this Wednesday Mary?
I am.
I am going to be in Madison June 10-14. Would love to have dindin with you.
OK, I got the dirt on my man. His name is not Naziz. His name is something that I can't even pronounce. Isn't that hot. I talked to the store manager tonight at the club I met him and he told me he was really bummed I just left. Isn't that sweet. He also told me he usually is there on Friday and or Saturday. As a result, I am going to drive down from Maine each night to hopefully see him.
He is from Great Britain originally. The Muslim and British accent is totally hot.

What happened?
Are you home?

Glad you made it back okay. I know the Audi is supposed to be fun to drive, but 500 miles at a crack?
Hi Ann....welcome home.
Greetings from Madison.
Right back at you, Professor!
Greetings from USDA zone 6b!!1!!!!!
(Where it's been drizzly and the black spot and powdery mildew is getting out of control. Sigh.)
Sit back and veg out, road warriors.
Althouse is back. Look busy.
I don't think she's at home. The tag is 'James Madison'. Maybe at JMU?
Or maybe she's in Madison, but at James Madison Park.
Or maybe she's visiting at the James Madison Center, in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Or maybe she just accidentally used the 'James Madison' tag instead of the 'Madison' tag.
Or maybe I've thought way too much about this already.
Oh, I always hate to see monarchs in the grill.
Well, I guess that's the circle of life. Caterpillars turn into butterflies which get smushed by German cars.
But I try not to think about it.

Are you done grading exams? Did you come back to turn in the grades?
Sorry about the "James Madison" autocompleted tag.
I've been shuttling between Madison and Cincinnati.
Maybe Summer can start now that you're back.

It's an odd thing. I feel better knowing that Ann's back in Madison. It's like a family member has returned from a long journey. Weird.
Made it to Madison a few summers ago to see the Mallards part of a college instructional baseball league. Lotsa fun & a cool place.

Amend that last part to read 'ain't love fantastic.' That's better.
Meanwhile, back in the 'Nati, there are news reports that a coyote has made off with a papillon, which is a tiny little thing that claims to be a dog.
Blue Ash. DON'T GO THERE.
The authorities say that if you see it in your yard, yell at it and chase it away (the coyote, not the papillon) so it doesn't get too comfortable.
Glad you had a safe trip, Professor.

I totally want him.
