Aren't black berries wonderful? I prefer the jam with the seeds, it is a bit annoying, but I think the jam made with the seeds just taste better. And I prefer the blackberries to the raspberries. Maybe it is regional preference or just experience, but blackberry cobbler is really good eats.
Earlier this week, we had what the locals call "blackberry winter." It's simply a cool spell that hits after the blackberries have begun to blossom. Now that we've had blackberry winter, the locals are convinced that we can proceed with summer.

Blackberries May 27, 2006 in Central Ohio.
My morning walk takes me past a nice field of blackberries. I am anticipating their ripening.
Cribbing From Frost
The track that first flowers and whitens
Quick tightens down to berries black --
Pale soon is past.
All things white cannot last.

Blackberries makes me remember hot days, bumble bees and sharp thorns.
Shouldn't they be called "African-American-berries?"
The Apples want equal treatment.
