"It was supposed to be a homage to the American lifestyle and the new U.S. President."

We noticed that American products and the American way of eating are trendy at the moment. Americans are more relaxed. Not like us stiff Germans, like [Chancellor Angela] Merkel."

Re Obama-Fingers, the German fried chicken product.

Oh, yes, we are relaxed... until we're not.

And, by the way, not only are your chicken fingers racist, calling your Chancellor "stiff" is sexist. And if you think I'm stiff for saying that bitching about a woman's stiffness is sexist, that is doubly sexist.

As long as you don't eat your Obama-fingers with a side order of watermelon, it's not racist.

The typical new trendy complaint. Any criticism of the One is racist. His history and legacy, yada, yada, yada yada.

I think in honor of the Messiah, we shoud al go out and buy those chicken fingers.

But how do they taste?

The Dude said...

Bitter.

But clingy...

Peter V. Bella said...

Due to the Messiah's theft of the Treasury they shoud be called stickyfingers.

Do Germans refuse to bow down to Black voters sensitivities in the United states? What a surprise. I suppose this long distance race baiting is supposed to help Obama's image here.

Having to ask that question just reveals the depths of your own sexist behavior.

"It's racist and inappropriate," declared Councilman Charles Barron (D-Brooklyn), calling for a boycott of the company's products. "We should do all that we can to see to it that no [company] disrespects the first black President."

Yeah, how would you like it if one of our companies started selling Merkelburgers?

The Drill SGT said...

LOL, MM

On the main point, holding folks in other country's hostage to our own racial stereotypes is hardly multicultural.

We need to embrace those enlightened open EU lifestyles.

Excuse me for not being up on sexist vernacular Madison Man. I think calling a woman a cunt or a bitch would qualify as sexist. Stiff not so much but then perhaps my range of reference in insulting women is not quite as broad as yours so I'll defer to your expertise in such matters.

The Drill SGT said...

Hoosier,

Maybe MM and Anne are making some sort of male appendage insult/jokes

- Obama not having a stiff one (e.g. boiled carrot) is insulting

- while Merkel being stiff is questioning her testosterone level?

I never know what these madison types think is funny or insulting

I haven’t gotten a shiver down my spine in quite some time. I think I’m going to try the Obama fingers.

Nothing Obama’s done has worked so far ;)

Are all Germans women, or is calling all Germans "stiff" sexist for some other reason?

I am definitely making fun of tha claim that the word stiff is sexist when used to describe a woman. Especially since the person using the word is a woman.

Wait until Borat (Cohen) gets his spoof of this fast food on film. Then we can quit being so American Stiff over every old racial thought and enjoy laughing about it.

The Dude said...

And here I thought that racism was when you stated that one race was superior or inferior to another.

And what constitutes a race? Is a half white half black fellow a member of a particular race? If so, which one?

Are Jews a race? Does Germany's recent effort to kill all the Jews constitute racism? How about Gypsies? Or don't they matter?

How about muslims - are they a race? Does their desire to kill all the Jews make them different than Germans? Better? Worse?

Can Jesse Jackson drop n bombs and threaten to castrate the president and not be racist? Apparently so.

Or is some hatred more equal that other hatred?

Germany - you can't live with it, and you can't kill it.

Well as Drill Sgt. says, it's hard to tell with you artsy progressive Madison types. You’re like cats. You purr and rub when being petted and then out of the blue you lash out and rip someone’s face off ;-)

Considering how ham-handed Obama's attempts to fix the economy have been, I'm surprised the Germans used chicken for Obama Fingers and not some sort of pork product.

And, with all due respect Professor, I've known too many women for whom "bitch" is the only reasonably descriptive term.

I don't speak German, but doesn't the language tend to construct words and terms that are strangely literal to English speakers?

My study group partner spoke German and told me once that the German title for the movie Child's Play was literally translated "Charles, the Murderous Puppet."

That has cracked me up ever since.

Shorewood is a pretty liberal area, but I swear this is absolutely true: the Shorewood Pick'N'Save ran an "Inauguration Special" at their hot dinner counter. The special? Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and cornbread for $9.99.

I asked the clerk incredulously if this was a joke, and he said no. God's honest truth.

If you think I'm doubly sexist for thinking you're stiff for saying that bitching about a woman's stiffness is sexist, that is triply sexist.

Germans, bravo. Marketing at its most opportunistic. But what are Germans supposed to know about typical American concerns that are rooted in the history of racism and stereotypical types (<--- ha ha ha, that's redundant) of characterizations of African-Americans? Huh? That type of concern is itself stereotypical of a person intent on remaining non-post racial. And if you think I'm racist for saying it's racist to say the Germans are being racist by marketing Obama chicken fingers, then that's triply racist.

But I applaud the Germans. Why stop with Obama chicken fingers? Obama ham hocks and collard greens with Obama cornbread, Obama chitlins, Obama BBQ ribs, Obama coleslaw, Obama peach cobbler, Obama pork chops with mushroom soup and roast potatoes and carrots, Obama catfish and hushpuppies, Obama mac and cheese, Obama pinto beans and rice, Obama pickled pigs' feet, Obama oxtails, and neckbones, Obama candied yams, Obama sugar-water iced tea, Obama Kook Aid®, Obama Jello®, Obama fried shrimp, Obama fried pork chops, Obama chicken backs and dumplings, Obama okra, Obama chicken livers and gravy, Obama hoe cakes, Obama squirrel, rabbit, possom and Obama frog legs, Obama fried pig skin, and Obama pig brains scrambled with eggs, Obama stale bread pudding, Obama wild strawberry pie, Obama dandelion wine, Obama beef tongues, Obama Colt 45 beer.

Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama. Obama every hour, every day. Obama on every channel without exception for years straight. Obama in every country. Obama sushi. Obama curry. Obama stir fry. Obama Pad Thai. Obama haggis. Obama shepherds pie. Obama souffle, quiche, crepes. Obama Tootsie Rolls®. Obama corned beef and cabbage. Obama fish and chips. Obama hamburger. Obama Ruben sandwich. Obama paella. Obama enchiladas. Obama moon pies. Obama Mars® bars.

That was a stiff disappointment.

What type of meal would pay correct homage to Obama?

Well, let's see. He grew up in Hawaii and Indonesia. And as an adult, most of his time was spent in Chicago.

*Checks kitchen bookshelf*

Nothing in Le Method seems applicable.

Okay, the perfect Obama homage meal would be some poi, covered in a spicy lime-peanut sauce, served on a steamed poppyseed bun with a side of fries.

To quote Rachel Ray, Yumbo!

Lem Vibe Bandit said...

Meanwhile..

Secretary Hillary Clinton (called by some a Chicken Hawk) proposed sending KFC advisors to verify the kitchen protocols. But the Germans refused unless they were allowed to send their frankfurter advisors to American plants.

It is the opinion of this observer that more and more this crisis resembles a game of chicken.

Call me tripply sexist as I have no idea what point you are trying to make. I can vaguely see the chicken angle, but the stiff comment seems best interpreted as referring to being uptight rather than a veiled sexual innuendo.
