"While sympathy for Mrs. Clinton is outside the normal fare of these columns...."

"... one cannot help but feel that she is surrounded by people who are, at best, strangers and, at worst, enemies."

On the plus side, the people assigned to do foreign policy work actually have foreign policy experience. Clinton doesn't.

The situation could work out in Hillary's favor: she serves dutifully until after the 2010 elections, then resigns.

PBO by that time will have taken a beating domestically for the failure of his "stimulus." In the foreign policy arena, confusion will reign, due to too many cooks in the kitchen: Biden gaffes, Holbrooke gone wild, Power seeing "monsters" everywhere, Iran nukes, Israel punching PBO in the nose, Russia making PBO look like Jimmy Carter.

Hillary lays the groundwork for a 2012 "I warned you" insurgency. PUMAs rise up and growl!

1980 all over again!

Then, it's like a trip with Bill.

Enemies, a Love Story.

I wouldn't seek out Dick Morris's opinion for insightful comments about Hillary Clinton, unless the topic is her pedicure. He and Bill Kristol are tied for first place for the inaccurate punditry prize.

Looks as though the Clintons may have been completely outplayed. I don'[t admire the Oama camp for much, but handing Bill and Hillary their asses was done with pizazz.

They've castrated her.

sg,

I tend to agree with you.

I still think the deal was she'll replace Biden if she stays for a second term. And Biden will probably see to it that he is replaced.

But I also suspect the deal between BHO and HRC must have included a promise by HRC not to challenge BHO in 2012 even if she departs the administration.

Then again, if BHO decides "I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your President" it's an open field, isn't it?

That may be true. It does not mean that they are capable, however.

(Earlier comment accidentally left out the word not)

Oh, Hillary. There's no place for a middle-aged woman in the youtube presidency. She's just a state department cardboard cut-out now.

Agree with "sg". Where she is is a high profile position and it keeps her relatively clean from the toxic domestic Obama, others in his Administration, Pelosi's people, and Republicans screaming nothing of this is any fault of them or the Glorious Bush people.

That leaves her with Teflon. Improve some relations, especially with Russia, Latin America, Iran. It may make Neocons froth at the mouth, but they are quite discredited already.

2010 she resigns over some high pronciple...

As for Dick Morris, the little sex perv has been gunning for Hillary Clinton for many years. Hates her as much as he likes Bubba Bill.

To Hillary's everlasting credit, there is no way she would have characterized Iran's recent past as merely "unhelpful" or called for a relationship based on "mutual respect." She's an adult among children in this administration.

Regarding meagre qualifications, Hillary mismanaged running for president.
Regarding either legal or literary ability, she certainly isn't the reincarnation of Dean Acheson.
A dreadful choice by Barack (Ethelred) for perilous times.

My prediction:

Within two years, Hillary will lead a revolt and take over the incompetent Obama government.

This is most probably where the first public collapse of his administration will come from. She will be among the "I told you so" crowd AND she'll have the "I tried" cred to go with it.

Funny thing here is she is one of the more competent people he has put in his administration..., not that that says very much.

Like Lars and I said, two months ago - trap. I still can't believe she walked into it (or that she was allowed to, but that's another story).

Pols can never count the Clintons out as long as they have breath. Their voter and donor base is only on loan and an exploratory committee could be up and running very quickly.

Who else could run against her in those circumstances? An unknown couldn't rally the country again so soon.

The MSM lapdogs are warm and cozy on Obama's lap for the moment, if they begin to yap and nip at his heels Hillary may be viable in 2012.
