This show from Illinois keeps on giving us a picture of the pettyness of corruption. The practice of corrupt politics is too easy in one sense. The "political skills" of pretending to be what you are not and saying what you know is untrue requires highly skilled acting. Then for them to be expected to add in a real principle or two that's not For Sale to the highest bidder, may be asking too much from people whose only skill has been to vote like the Boss told them in corrupt one party Machine Politics. We are watching some profound morality play put on to take our attention away from The great trillion dollar raid on American wealth worked on us in plain sight this week by Pelossi, Reid, and the Chicago machine politician who signed off on their scam.Burris has served his purpose.
Not that I have a lot of sympathy for Burris, but $10,000 in corruption and lying to Congress seems a smaller transgression than Chris Dodd proposing to bail out a company that give him special low rates on his home mortgage. Or Charles Rangel not paying taxes because he can't understand the tax law written by the committee he chairs. Tim Geitner being appointed and confirmed to be over the IRS, even after he failed to pay taxes.
Roland Burris giving financial campaign support to a politican as a political favor seems like business as usual. For certain he shouldn't be embarrassed, because he is among friends...
Congress really needs to spend more time going after Roger Clemens and Alex Rodriguez for perjury.
By the standards of the United States Senate, Burris is small potatoes, what he should be embarrased about it is not enriching his family and friends, loading up his constituencies with pork and being a hypocrite.
This permanent circus we call the Democrat process of vetting and selecting US Senate replacements reminds me of the Sonny & Cher song...The Beat Goes On.
Simon, there are plenty of nuclear accidents that have happened without people's undies gettin' in a twist!
In the '60's,for example, a nuke armed aircraft got blown off the deck during a storm in the Sea of Japan...it still sits at the bottom of the ocean, much to the annoyance of the Japanese.
There are others. That's why that whole Glomar Explorer thing happened between Hughes and Nixon...
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, {{gasp}}..oh my sides,... ha, ha, ha, ha, ha...{[wipes tears}}..ha, ha..he he....{{hicup}}..he, he,...{{giggle}}....{{wipes nose on sleeve}}.... {{deep breath}} wheeew....
This is only an issue in Illinois because of all of the other Dems in the state who want that Senate seat. If Burris was seen as safe he could go rob banks and no one would lift a finger; however, he is low-hanging fruit and a jaywalking ticket will be used against him in this type of environment.
The Comedy Administration will reward the most corrupt of politicians because afterall, no good deed should go unpunished. I wonder which rule that is in the Rules for Radicals manifesto.
Burris lied like a rug at the hearings. The only reason he fessed up now is that prosecutor had him on tape. If there is a god in heaven this man will resign.

I hear Obama's looking for a new Commerce Secretary, perhaps Burris fits the bill?
Wow, he sounds like a loser on Oscar night!
Simon,
Obama's Commerce Secretary=Spinal Tap Drummer!
The solution is to have Illinois revert to territory status and reapply for statehood after they find an honest man. Circa 2035, perhaps?
Ron, I was just thinking about Spinal Tap in a non-Tap context the other day!

Thank God Obama is clean, not like every other Democrat out of Illinois.
Man, he must be another Truman!

This crisp new dollar bill has a small green globule where the Treasury Secretary's signature is supposed to be. Can I still spend it?

Don't ask me why.
The only thing that embarrasses a politician is getting caught.
Well, it's not like he cheated on his taxes or something. So what's the problem?

An embarrassed politican?

Boy, that was good.
Assuming that your personal embarrassment mechanism isn't all gumed up with dried crap.
What a lovely variation on the denial-that-is-not-really-a-denial theme.

Simon, there are plenty of nuclear accidents that have happened without people's undies gettin' in a twist!
and some that did create some twists, like
1. a nuke (without detonator) dropped from a B47 off Georgia in 1958
2. 4 nukes (B28's) in a BUFF crash off Greenland in 1968
3. 4 nukes (B28's) in a BUFF crash off Spain in 1966
What do all these scandals say about the Democrat party?
The senate has a procedure set out in the constitution for dealing with this. Oh, never mind, the constitution doesn't matter anymore.
Drill SGT:
A nuke-carrying B58 broke a landing gear and crashed on my very date of birth!
plus a shed of nukes caught fire at Lankenheath, what, 59?
So, yeah, there's a lot of this stuff in the books...

What do all these scandals say about the Democrat party?
What does it say about voters who elect and then re-elect these turds?
The Republican party is no bastion of virtue. Its fiscal irresponsibility set the stage for the current Porkosaurus-size outlay.
re: The prior thread on the seven deadly sins, pride (power) and greed trumps lust, IMO
If I did it
OJ.
"Greed trumps lust", or so said bearbee.
Personally, not so sure that is true for alpha-males.
Of course... I could be convinced to share a cuppa oohlong to discuss said theory.
Here's a new wrinkle.
