El Rushbo is a touch too bombastic. I guess he is more of an entertainer. But he is very, very smart. If the Fairness Doctrine raises its head like Putin, then Rush will become only a blogger among many.
Dear Professor Althouse. For your new year, I would like to suggest your trying Ballroom Dancing and Golf. These are as excellent social outlets for empty nestors. They are both challenging in a way that co-ops your whole attention for a few hours acting like mini vacations for our ever active minds mixed with a level of exercise. May you be blessed in all that you put your hand to this year.
Ann, I didn't want to tromp on the other birthday post since it had homework assignments attached, but I have no such compunction with regard to Rush Limbaugh posts...so here's wishing you a very Happy Birthday!
When did you find out you and Rush had the same exact birthday? 'Cause you've been admiring him, as a showman, for a while. Given the affinity, was it a bit mind-blowing to discover that coincidence? Did it make you wonder about the possible kinship between his showmanship and yours (showomanship)? I've had a few birthday shockers of that kind. My post on it gave equal time to the "optimystic's" and the skeptic's point of view.
That food for thought is my birthday present to you! Happy happy birthday!

I knew we were born on the same day before I listened to the show. It was a fact that could be used as a joke here in Madison. I started listening after someone told me he mentioned my name. So to the extent that I have an affinity, some of it is probably based on knowing we were born on the same day.

So are you two kids doing something special for your co-birthday? Will it involve a flight on EIB-1, El Rushbo's private jet?
Be sure to order the most expensive items on the menu. And talk about your nephew's golfing. Rush is way into golf.
The black dress would look nice, I think. With pearls.
Flappy birds day youz two.
@Michael H -- Rush never invites me to his parties. *sniffle*
"And talk about your nephew's golfing. Rush is way into golf."
They've been in at least one tournament together, but not in the same party, I don't think.
Aw, thanks, Chip.

The Althouse blog is an outpost of sorts too.
Hey that is a little harsh. It's not an outhouse.
Did you get "white trash cake", too?
Happy Birthday!
I think you should celebrate with Rush, too. He needs a good woman! And I think it's you. Happy co-birthday!
In the coming Obama reprise of Carter, Rush is gonna look better and better.

Cheers.
Ann,
I sent Rush a note telling him about your co-birthdays and suggesting he'd be very fortunate to have the pleasure of your company.
I know he'll call.
empty nestors
Hardly empty. Nestor recommended the successful Trojan war surge strategy.

An "outpost" for 99% of the fools here.

Have you ever actually blown Rush?
I say...yes.

It sure is.
Of dolts.
Happy somewhat belated birthday! (Or just imagine yourself in Hawaii for a second, where it still is your birthday.) Hope it was a great one.

Michael, congratulations! Self analysis is the first step in your recovery. It's a long journey, so keep with it.
