The balls, the finger, the dogs — let's talk about Mickey Rourke.

ADDED: Let me transcribe the part about the dogs: "I'd like to thank all my dogs — the ones that are here and the ones that aren't here anymore — because sometimes when a man's alone, that's all you got is your dog, and they meant the world to me."

Like the newspaper industry, Hollywood is well on its way to losing its next generation of customers.

My kids go to fewer and fewer movies. What's more, they complain about feeling ripped off by prices.

Free entertainment on the Net...that's where it is. Subscription-based net games give far, far more value (in terms of hours of play) than a movie ticket.

I couldn’t watch the video but I strongly suspect it refutes my pet theory that Jim Morrison is alive and well and living on a plantation in Argentina with Elvis and Adolf Hitler.

I really, really still like Mickey Rourke. Perhaps more so because he's had it rough since I loved him in some memorable movies, and I feel like I can still see that handsome face underneath.

I'd like to see him in The Wrestler.

I watched the video and I can tell you that your pet theory is still safe.

(1) Thanks, Justin! It’s the little things that keep us going!

(2) Professor, thanks for the transcription. Now I’m sure of it. We are now morally obligated to throw a big dinner party and seat Mr. Rourke next to Senator Byrd.

Thanks, Justin!

You are quite welcome.

I must admit to some confusion concerning your pet theory. What makes you think Elvis and Adolf Hitler would get along? I mean, Elvis did save us from totalitarianism after all.

I don't know him personally, but Hitler strikes me as the kind of guy who would hold a grudge.

This (scroll down) made me snorfle...not exactly what one expects and oddly touching.

Oh, so the dogs are chihuahuas! I wouldn't have expected that.

I think he's eccentric, but I approve of his tenderness toward his little dogs. The one he carries around (swaddled in warm clothes) is apparently quite old and on her way out. I say bless his heart.

The pic with his dog ensconced pretty in pink and he in golden slippers.

Ha, ha.

Yes, unexpected he would have the little guys (chihuahuas).

Indeed.

Aww. That pic of him carrying Loki made me tear up. But then we lost our 16-going-on-17-year-old little dog last week. I know what he meant.

Carefull dog lovers should always keep an heir and a spare [5 years apart] like the English Monarchy. Dog years fly by too fast. But turtles are not loyal.

Get a parrot. It will outlive you, and will even start to make sense after awhile.

"Ann, you should check out the Bob Dylan website www.expectingrain.com for the latest news on Dylan--yesterday they linked to an article about how Rourke and Bob got to be friends via late-night phone calls."

Well, Eric, you should check out my blog, because I blogged about that before they did.

Sorry to hear about your dog. They are precious. I have an 11 year old Boxer who even through cancer (Hemangiosarcoma) is still chugging along, but I don't know for how much more, so I'm taking everyday with her like it will be her last. I can only imagine what you are going through right now and I have to be honest and say I don't know what I will do when the time comes.

BTW. I saw The Wrestler and I liked it a lot. Marissa Tomei looks absolutely stunning. Even my wife was like "God Damn". Rourke did really good and he looked great. The grocery store scenes were the best.

"I wonder if Bob Dylan reads your blog."

If he does, why doesn't he call me? He calls Mickey, and he doesn't call me?

Oh, maybe he does keep calling me, but I screen all my calls. It rings, and I never pick up, not without a message. Bob! You have to leave a message! Or email me, like the other cool celebrities do.

That profile image over at Dr. Mooney's sure reminds me of Neo-neocon's. (Well, except neo's is a photograph, she's pretty, and the green thing is an apple.) Still, go see for yourself.
