Man, this scared me.
Did WBZTV pay Drudge to drive traffic over there for that inane speculation? It was so upsetting to see that... I got all worked up for nothing. Now, take it down, Matt. I don't even want to think about that.
ADDED: But this juxtaposition is very favorable to Obama:

I keep checking back to see when you'll do your standard parsing of the candidate's public statements to see what you make of John McCain's recent
"My friends, we have reached a crisis, the first probably serious crisis internationally since the end of the Cold War. This is an act of aggression."
and
"In the 21st century, nations don't invade other nations."
What gives? It doesn't worry you a a little bit how quickly he manufactured his own red sea to part?
My reaction was a bit different, for me this represents, Change I Can Believe In . . .
Now, now, this is not so strange; at least not as it may seem. Remember, he is allowing Hillary's name to be placed in nomination and a vote count taken. What could be stranger than that?
As of now, Obama still has to win the nomination; officially. Letting Hillary have HER convention and HER nomination is no stranger than speculating that John Kerry will be his VP. Actually it is scarier.
Does Drudge drink?
Ann, Obama is going to F up his VP choice. Mark my words. He has never made a tough and correct decision in his political life, has he?
While we are on the topic of politics and before we start talking about all matters sexual and start singing bawdy songs and telling dirty jokes, I thought I would ask- Ann, are you going to be live blogging the conventions?
If Obama put Ernie Borgnine on the ticket, he'd outflank McCain for the geezer vote and force Kerry to establish his masturbating credentals, instead of just trying to jerk off the nation as he has been doing...
Ann, Obama is going to F up his VP choice. Mark my words.
I think most people suspect that too, AJ.
Since his Party is into making "statements", there is added pressure to choose a person with just the right liberal bona fides.
But Edwards is out. Webb is a tough sell. Bayh is boring. Kerry would be suicidal.
My own choice for him is Feinstein, which might be interesting.
Will he do it?
He has never made a tough and correct decision in his political life, has he?
He's never made a life and death decision affecting OTHERS in his whole life, period.
This is why there have only been two Senators elected directly from the Senate in US Presidential history (Harding, Kennedy). You need executive of some kind...any kind.
What exactly does an "Activist" do?
Cheers,
Victoria
If Obama picks Kerry is his VP, then Obama needs to be confined to a mental hospital.
No he was a community organizer not an activist. Unless he has scrubbed his website once again?
Two words I have said here before. Caroline Kennedy. Manhattan and Cape Cod elitist. God bless her well meaning soul but she is simply not capable of giving good advice for VP slot.
Some local news here that may be tipworthy. Fat Eddie Rendell, PA governor, is ususlly in the news here every day without fail. Lately Fat Eddie has disappeared from the news. Could be a sign he is being heavily vetted for VP? He would help Obama win.
Kerry is whispering to Obama: Whatever you do, don't pick Edwards!

They love giving voices to the blah, blah, blah...
If you ask me they are all hearing voices. Obama already screwed up big time- letting Clinton run HIS convention and be nominated. He really hurt himself there. If he makes a wrong choice for VP, McCain wins big time.

Not a mental condition for a Dem. It just shows how blind they are when it comes to separating real people from phony, lazy do-nothings like Kerry.
He has never made a life or death decision affecting others, has he, VB asks.
Actually, he has, in a sense. Obama not only has the highest ranking in abortion votes in the Senate he even thinks it should be legitimate to kill a baby that has somehow survived the abortion procedure and is alive on the operating table.
Obama thinks it's ok for doctors to passively terminate the life by not offering any assistance to the baby until he or she dies.
This was in today's column by Patrick Buchanan (Oneonta Star, p.4):
"Thrice in the Illinois legislature, Obama helped block a bill that was designed solely to protect the life of infants already born, and outside the womb, who had mirculously survived the attempt to kill them during abortion. Thrice, Obama voted to let doctors and nurses allow these tiny human beings to die of neglect."
Buchanan then asks, "How can a man who purports to be a Christian justify this?"
Buchanan then writes, "When a bill almost identical to the one Barack fought in illinois, the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, came to the floor of the U.S. Senate in 2001, the vote was 98 to 0 in favor."
He has also pledged that his very first move as president would be to abolish all restrictions of any kind regarding abortion and abortion funding.
So he has made life and death decisions, and has been applauded for it by the National Organization for Women, according to Buchanan's column.
He has completely denied all rights to life for unborn children, and now, even to children who have been born.
Activists take tax dollars and spend them on their friends. That's about it. Maybe write a press release or two describing how swell they are, but pretty much it's just theft under the cover of social engineering. It has not had any good results yet. But maybe the next trillion will do the job...
From today's Chicago Tribune
Nightmare on Dem Street
He has completely denied all rights to life for unborn children, and now, even to children who have been born.
Ha ha, very funny. That vote, in the Illinois state senate was years ago, and the only reason Obama voted against it was because it had language in it that could have led to the repeal of Roe v. Wade. The federal version of the law did not have this language, and Obama supported that version. Oh, AND, more importantly, Illinois state law already requires doctors to care for fetuses born alive during botched abortions so the bill was meaningless.
TRY AGAIN.

Definitely.

I think Vbspurs and I meant to prhase it this way"when has Obama made a tough and correct decision" ever?
You pointed out one of Obama's worst incorrect decisions or should I say "judgments" which is waht he is running on.
ZPS:
Please you are asking us to give Obama a "weasel" exemption.
Nightmare on Dem Street
LOL...
I was just in my car listening to Farai Chideya on NPR's AA-centric "News and Notes" (in fact, I try to tune in daily).
How can I express to you the tone of dismay, and actually disgust the black guests had against Obama having caved into pressure and allowed Hillary such a prominent platform at this Convention?
Listen to it yourself
Clarence Page said this in a very downbeat tone about Hillary's appearance:
"Well, it's pretty much a roll of the dice for Obama's people who pretty much control the convention, but it will allow Hillary a chance to have her name screamed one more time, and then she can ask her supporters to support Obama, but on the downside where it's another opportunity to have news focusing on someone else other than OBAMA."
I get the sense black Americans really really wish the Clintons would go away, and not even turn up at the convention. This should be 100% about their community in the form of Obama.
He does makes an interesting point though -- that McCain has been more successful in winning over Republicans, than Obama has won over Hillary voters.
I agree with that, because I am one of those won-over McCain voters.
Dianne "Without Dan White I'd Be Unemployed" Feinstein would be a perfect choice - she is a conservative, at least compared to Barry "Marx is my Copilot" Obama. Old white woman, young biracial dude with no resume - a regular Felix Unger and Oscar Madison duo.
FU - took me 3 weeks to figure out he meant "Felix Unger".
So there I go over to the Immodest Proprosals site and lo and behold, there is a comment by "our" own cheery Victoria. Like seein' an' old friend I tells ya...
Robt-- McCain manufactured Russia invading Georgia?
Do tell.
Victoria said...My own choice for him is Feinstein, which might be interesting.
Feinstein is too old and too rational. Boxer would be dumber than Dianne and fit Barrack's politics better. Diane is too sane and too old. Older than McCain by maybe 5 years.
Boxer is younger and a complete idiot :)
From vbspurs:
"Well, it's pretty much a roll of the dice for Obama's people who pretty much control the convention.."
Not any more. Hillary's people now control the convention.
"I get the sense black Americans really really wish the Clintons would go away..."
Oh, I would bet that MOST Americans wish that the Clintons would go away; far, far, away. Never, Never Land comes to mind.
"McCain has been more successful in winning over Republicans.."
After this bone headed move by Obama, McCain will have more success winning over Clinton voters than he did winning over Republicans.
Feinstein couldn't deliver anything he doesn't already have, namely SF, or writ larger, CA.
Obama badly needs defense creds.
I think he needs a Saul/Paul type figure to emerge- somebody from the other side who had an inner conversion of sorts.
MCG wrote:

I doubt that's true, but it sure feels that way, doesn't it? I bet you it does to most Democrats, including Obama...
Re: the Feinstein comments.
Heh about the Feingold suggestion. He's possibly even more ideologically Leftist than Obama.
No, I truly meant Feinstein, or perhaps some older Jewish woman politician, with a boatload of experience.
I know she's older than even McCain, but strangely she doesn't look it. She's more moderate than Boxer, who I agree is an utter idiot.
His strategy right now is to add a white centrist who can bring him the blue-collar states.
Forget it. I think those are truly lost to him. He could choose the ghost of Robert E. Lee as his running mate, and Jefferson Davis himself could give the ticket his blessing, and still the Kentucky/W. Virignia crowd wouldn't vote for him.
It's not about race, exactly, it's about the aura around him. He's just not like them.
Instead, IMHO, he needs to bring in the disaffected Hillary supporters, he needs the Jewish or pro-Israeli vote (not always embodied in the person of a Jewish politician, see GW Bush), and he needs to add experience to his ticket.
Any other older Jewish seasoned politician ladies around?
Cheers,
Victoria
He has to pick some one that will celebrate the voices of the diverse and wonderful culture that is the Democratic Party. He has to pick someone who is not too controversial- too gay, too feminist, too liberal, adulterers and liars need not apply too whatever. Since he is Black, he will have to pick someone from one of those so called disadvantaged groups to show his unity with the world.
There are no know Eskimos and Ben Night Horse Campbell is not around any more, so the field is slim. I know, an ex-con. They are a disadvantaged group. They have no rights. It would make the Dems feel all warm and fuzzy. There is also no law against it that I know of.
I think he needs a Saul/Paul type figure to emerge- somebody from the other side who had an inner conversion of sorts.
Great idea. I'm thinking Osama, come down from the cave. A striking figure, modern warfare experience, sure to encourage the Muslim vote and a generally high Dem turnout - or death as the alternative. That'll get em out to the polls.
Yes, the more I think about it, the more I think o-BA-ma should consider an offer, take a little chance, do a little dance, la la la...
V said in part :) ...Instead, IMHO, he needs to bring in the disaffected Hillary supporters, he needs the Jewish or pro-Israeli vote (not always embodied in the person of a Jewish politician, see GW Bush), and he needs to add experience to his ticket.

LOL, Lieberman? :)

Yeah, because the public clearly yearns for a liberal Jew to offset the most liberal Senator in the Election.
One the gun-banning, gay marriage promoting ex-Mayor of San Francisco. The other the 1st Amendment restricting, gun-banning, terrorist/enemy civil rights lover from Wisconsin. Both ferverent abortion fans.
Not that the picks Dick Morris and others of similar mien were much better. First, they touted Condi Rice as the perfect affirmative action counter to Obama/Hillary. Insanity, because nothing says "Bush, Iraq, and a dozen other policy disasters" more than "Condi".
Now it is 80% ADA liberal voting record Lieberman, who aside from neocon efforts to advance Israel through US wars, Bush-huggy-kissing, and his minor moralistic moments, is a solid Democrat.
All 4 are suicidal choices.
It would make the Dems feel all warm and fuzzy.
You know who Obama can't pick as his running mate? Another black man. As my Democrat neighbour put it the other day, "We're not there yet".
I guess only when two handicapped African-American lesbian Muslims ex-tenured Berkeley or Columbia Marxist-Leninist professors get elected President/Vice-President, then America will have achieved perfection as a nation and society.
Until then, we're imperfect, and fair game to deride.
Cheers,
Victoria
I agree Feinstein would be a great choice. It won't happen, but for the sole reason that I really do respect her (voted for her twice now--out of spite against the California Republican Party and they're basically stated aim to stay a minority party here). I still remember the great introduction she gave to Condi Rice during Rice's Senate confirmation hearings.
I don't agree with her on a lot but I think she's a whole lot more sincere than most of the rest of them.
But she is old. And she has baggage that probably wouldn't be suited for a VP candidate. But, if she was picked, I'd have a lot more respect for Obama.
He's a lot more likely to choose Boxer, for all the characteristics already noted about our junior senator.
I think Paddy is also referring to some potential conflict of interest issues between Feinstein votes and corporate interests of her husband.
BTW, to all you obsessed anti-Althouse trolls, who profess to know which way Ann leans politically (in your fevered minds, she's a right-winger, all the way).
Where are you now when she just about declares that she is leaning more pro-Obama this November, than pro-McCain?
Explain why she would write, "Man, this scared me"
And:
It was so upsetting to see that... I got all worked up for nothing.
...if she wasn't planning on voting for whatever Obama ticket there was come election time?
You trolls suck, sucky-suck. Suckers.
Cheers,
Victoria
I like DiFi.
But that isn't going to happen.
You know, a lot of regular Dem-leaning types who pop by to give their well-wishes maintain that Kerry was the superior choice, that he was a perfectly cromulent candidate.
They should be thrilled at the notion he'd be on the Veep slot, right?
Blake:
Nah Kerry reported for duty but he let them down. They claim he was too slow to respond to Swift Boaters. Tough to respond to the truth. Heh.
BTW folks has the MSM admitted Obama's VP pick must add "GRAVITAS" to the DEM ticket? heh.
AJ--
OK, it's gotta add gravitas.
But it can't overshadow him.
Is Dan Quayle still around?
Good one Blake.
Keep this in mind. Obama is like a new CEO who keeps thinking "holy shit how the f did they hire me?"
So he is very insecure. That means he will be afraid of picking someone who makes him look green which is almost everyone. So Obama will pick someone we never heard of or someone who is as green as he is. I guarantee it.
Compounding his mystery by selecting another mystery?
Can that work?
I guess we'll see.
I do wonder if he'll be making the choice.

Do you realize that McCain is a Senator?
How do you respond to the fact that military leadership means nothing to some people?
Men's lives are directly under your command. It's not even close to be an "activist".
If it were, Medea Benjamin would be his Veep.
Men's lives are directly under your command.
That makes it sound the the Bligh school of leadership.
We prefer to define leadership as:
"Obtaining the willing cooperation of a group toward a common goal or mission"
Yes, Drill SGT!
(See, I didn't say, "Sir" which is only used to officers. Non-military people usually don't know that, but this daughter of a Captain does) ;)
On that same WBZ-TV site (channel 4 here in Bwahston) is an older piece that's even more frightening.
Yes, Kerry for Secretary of State. Aaaarghhh!
On the other hand, it would get him out of the Senate, and God knows, Massachusetts has been embarrassed enough.
Won't happen, though. It would mean there might be TWO open Senate seats from the Bay State in the near future. The Massachusetts political class would grow green, gauzy wings and fly to the Moon, en masse, before they would allow that to happen.
I can dream, can't I?
Since Obama is young, fit, and healthy the VP choice is not that important. The VP's only real job is to wait around until the President dies or is incapacitated.
Hence, to counter the Hillary coup; her coronation at the convention, he should pick the one Democrat in the US that she one hundred percent, absolutely loathes; a person so vile TO HER, that she would not be in the same city, let alone the share the same stage with. He should annouce it before the convention.
This will keep her as far away as possible. She could give her speech via video from her home in NY and everyone will be happy.
Yes, Drill SGT!
(See, I didn't say, "Sir" which is only used to officers. Non-military people usually don't know that, but this daughter of a Captain does) ;)
You are correct.
The normal quip by a SGT in response to being addressed as Sir! is: I'm not a Sir!, I work for a living!
having said that, I am/was an officer later/now. Sadly, I know that punctures your bubble, but I thought that Drill SGT (which I once was) was a better blogging persona than "Old Major". Though Major Dundee was pretty special as Trooper and perhaps Roger will attest :)
Cederford is down on a jew VP. Imagine that.
So how is Obama different from Kerry on the issues?
Nobody wants to look or hear from Kerry. He needs to go away...but Feingold, I could get behind. He's a progressive that has a spine and continues to get repubs to vote for him.
This just in: Obama will pick Michael Phelps as his running mate.
Obama floated to the top of a contrived and disorganized primary process that left the party rank and file on all sides pretty sure they were screwed; "super delegates" are about as far from pure democracy as you can get, nyet?
Obama isn't very bright and his crew are obviously there to share the spoils, not contribute to any grand era.
He (O!) should have heard the Clintons' request for speaking times, countered with allowing Bill to speak after the nomination and acceptance, plus retiring their campaign debt.
Or nothing.
He put her on the mat, but didn't put her out. And now he faces an election that, even if he wins, will tear the party in half. What a moron.
Hillary already has a VP picked, and even if she doesn't run in 2008, 2012 will be wide open.
Middle Age Guy called it when he said that Obama has put Hillary in charge of the convention.
I see via Glenn that Patrick Ruffini is on the EnigmatiCore bandwagon-- that this is all a big head fake and Hillary will be the VP nominee.
http://thenextright.com/patrick-ruffini/obamas-massive-headfake-hillary-for-vp
Meanwhile, Barney Frank is attacking potential McCain running mate Romney.
If Romney is such a poor choice, you'd think the Dems would keep it to themselves until after nomination.
A distraction from Kerry?
Everybody keeps telling me, no way is it going to be Hillary, but I keep thinking of his other options and, I gotta say, it's just crazy enough to work. And that really really scares me.
He should just make Michelle his VP.
They can fist bump at the convention and talk about how they're finally proud of America.
Republicans could not be given such a gift as Obama-Kerry. That sends a tingle up MY leg.
Drop the "O" logo...replace it with "OK"...then ship 'em both to that empty corral in Tombstone, AZ and let that be their epitaph.
Wouldn't Jerry Brown be acceptable?
Cheers
