Tom Brokaw is the new host of "Meet the Press" — until November.

This is good — for us and for NBC. Can you imagine if they'd given it to Olbermann or Matthews?

Olbermann? Hee hee hee, that would have been a disaster.

I was hoping for Imus.

Niether Olbermann nor Matthews are journalists. They would have lots half their potential guests.

I am hoping for Gwen Ifill.

Yeh, with either Ubermann or Mathews, their ratings would have dropped off the bottom of the charts. Not only are neither journalists, but both have been some of Obama's most strident advocates for quite awhile now. It is a hard call, as to which is worse.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if Tom Brokaw doesn't completely suck. By all accounts he's a wonderful man, but hasn't shown a skill at live interviews of any weight.

Replacing him just goes to underscore how much of a one-off Russert was. I caught some of it today with Brian Williams, and it was as awful as one might expect - the man just can't do sincere or likable. I agree Matthews wouldn't be a good fit, and the only fit that Olbermann should be measured for is a casket.

I'm cheering for the idea of grooming Chuck Todd...

It is amazing how limited the talent pool really is.

NOW I miss Tim Russert.

I can imagine one guy barricaded in his office like George Castanza refusing to approve either Matthews or O'Reilly's cojoined twin, Olbermann as Russert's successor.

Thank god someone over there still understands the defination of the term "the right thing to do".

Brokaw is a blunted tool, but still much sharper than Matthews and Olbermann put together...

Personally, I'd love it if they gave it to Obermann. Put him on display for the whole country to see.
