Puhleeese, Victoria, don't refer to old adverts as "vintage" and "creepy," especially after I just got through telling everybody how well I remember Manners the Butler. I like to think of ads from the 50's and 60's as "classic."
Well, Theo the important thing to take from this awkward reference (for me, not you) is that you don't LOOK like a Boomer.
Rosie the Waitress - Diminutive restaurant waitress (played by 4-foot 11-inch actress Nancy Walker) who mopped countertops with the "quicker picker upper" in a long-running series of commercials for Bounty™ paper towels between 1970 and 1990.
Wow, 20 years. Will the Geico Cavemen be around that long?
Wow, I didn't get it the first time you referenced either of them. Ann doesn't delete comments entirely, so where are they?
(My attendance on Althouse is spotty, so I don't think I remember Inspektor. Maxine of course, yes, but she seems to be more sour on Ann these days...than usual)
Sir Archy has lost his first "Topick" and former hobby-horse.
Wow, why does Althouse have so many trolls? I mean, not nasty trolls usually. More like quirky trolls.
Anyway, not sure you noticed Theo, but recently I made peace with that aspect of Althouse.
It happened the same night I realised there are far worse people out there, and commenting on Althouse, than just outrageous characters who once you get them, are actually rather funny.
Fellow Republicans what are we going to do about what Scott Mcclellan is saying about our best president ever?
Obviously, anything that any previous Clinton aides said was accurate and this must just be a money making device but still it is difficult to hear being blared all over the news waves.
We were being misled about WMD's?
We must destroy Scott now. He has only known and worked with Bush since his Texas days and is obviously a liberal traitor.
Yes, I would agree with the description of Maxine, above.
Maxine seems very caustic, crafty, and calculating. She seems to know everyone's achilles' heel, and shoots for the jugular. She pulls no punches and cuts to the quick, everytime.
That said, I highly doubt her base of operations is the UCLA Campus. Something tells me she was run outta there, on a rail, years ago.
I'm sure she's got bigger fish to fry, and moved on to bigger and better !

hmmm...sort of Far From Heaven meets Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas via Arthur Treacher...
So is that your concealed guy?
I love the way YouTube thinks if you liked that you'll like this.
You could also conceal the Tidy-Bowl guy and the Keebler elf. And Tom Cruise.
Paper napkins. Plus, you can blow your nose into them without being considered a gross germy lusus naturae.
little men...cleavage...I'll bet that kid needed one of those paper napkins...
Some women want a little man in their life. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
We don't joke about the "don" Theo.
He's very sensitive about that kind of stuff.
Arthur Treacher! Ron nailed it. I was going to say it had a whiff of "Topper".
And what's up with housewives in the 1950s letting any old dwarf butler into their homes?
Vintage advertising is creepy. Speaking of motherlode sites (via the Kindle post), here is one for it.
I mean, you know, sometimes just what the hell???
Cheers,
Victoria
QUESTION: How much does it cost to maintain this blog ?
ANSWER: The cost of maintaining this blog is the cost of maintaining ME !!!!
Oh my, the McGreevy divorce !
That sad Jim McGreevy--- I see he's got a boatload full of forehead wrinkles. --Middle-aged and his options are dwindling.
Clearly, he should have "announced" himself years ago when he had less wrinkles and more cash.
Was the the teacher, Miss Landers, from Leave it to Beaver?
Charmaine, I believe Dina Matos McGreevey always knew about her husband.
My manicurist dined out with both Dina and Jim on several occasions.
Everytime Dina and Jim were together, Dina always got skittish when the girl talk gets gutsy.
She had to have known about him!

That's the prize right there.
Anyway, one day I'll remember your post when I mention Rosie and the Quicker Picker Upper.

Theo...a few madmen? I've been away on biz for a while and notice an absence of Manners the Butler on here when I pass by..
The inconsistency of providing a non-slip napkin to those who eat with their hands is not lost on me Ann.
BTW, Vic, Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips is back!
Check it out!
Mainly on the East Coast...

Ron, very cool. Beats the heck out of that greasy-ass Long John Silver...

Let's get him fellow republicans.
You look too happy in your profile picture.
I prefer something a little more mysterious, unemotional and sinister.
Please work on it.
Also, with the warm weather something showing a little more skin as well as bosom would dovetail with the change of season nicely.
I am seeing something in black, lowcut, where cleavage is exposed.
Also, looks like the hair needs a little trimming. A little unruly-could of been the weather.
Make it work.
I am also looking for something a little more unapproachable, distant and dare I say bitchy.
More Madonna; less Julia Roberts
Get on it now.
Theo...
And I ate a Colonel Sanders without a fork or spoon while tooling across the PA Turnpike. I'm not proud of it but it is doable.
Frankly, like Tituscanbe above and Mr. Bush, spoons and napkins are completely over-rated.
