The Brooklyn Bridge is 125 years old tomorrow.
I'd been looking at the Brooklyn Bridge for the last 9 months, but I'm back in Madison now, so I'm missing the festivities. I must have walked across the bridge 20 times while I was living in New York, and I still have a picture of the bridge as the welcome page of my iPhone. So let me mark the occasion with a few of my favorite pictures of the bridge:

It appears to be bent all out of shape.
Happy Birthday BB
Hard to believe it's stayed up that long given the Seussian architecture in the photographs.
The first two pics make it look kinda creepy--they remind me of the tentacle-waving tripods striding across the landscape in "War of the Worlds."
Bless your steel girded heart, Brooklyn Bridge!
And with grateful thanks to the guys who risked life and limb for just a few dollars to build you.
They don't make either like you anymore.

It just occurred to me: Isn't there some relatively recent anti-terrorism rule against photographing public structures such as bridges? (Well, as long as you aren't a Middle Easterner, or look like one, I guess it's OK ...)
Nice photos, they really brought back some memories. I scoured all archived historical photos of this bridge a decade ago for a client, and even back then I couldnt believe how old it was. I cant believe it is still going strong, I hope they are maintaining it properly.
