I think the danger in going onto Letterman is saying something ridiculous. Since she said nothing ridiculous (I didn't think so, anyway), I guess it was a successful appearance.
As much as I don't like to delve into superficial matters, allow me to say that High Definition TV does not suit her particularly well.
(I'm actually curious as to whether the debates will be aired in HD, and whether that will have an effect on the viewers perceptions of the candidates.)

Hello, grandma.
And Letterman's about as cool as Merv Griffin.
Obama won the hipster prize last night by getting the surviving members of the Grateful Dead play a benefit concert on his behalf.
When asked if Obama was a Deadhead at a pre-show press conference, bass player Phil Lesh said that he has Dead tunes on his iPod.
(Sure he does...)
And I can't tell you how many people on the concert chatboard said they thought Obama would "end the war."
The man has already said that he will escalate in Afghanistan.

I caught part of this appearance last night.
