"The late Gambino crime boss John Gotti was for ordering the hit [on Rudy Giuliani], and had the support of the leader of the Colombo crime family."

This was back in 1986, back when Giuliani was U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and had indicted the heads of the five families. The Gambino and Colombo families said yes, but the other 3 said no, and it did not happen.

I doubt if any blogger will consider it inapt for me at this point to note that Bill and Hillary Clinton once did a commercial where they play-acted roles associated with the fictional TV crime family "The Sopranos."

In this world, there is the real and the fake.

Just a reminder that before Rudy was America's mayor, indeed the world's mayor, he spent his time bringing down the mafia.

Hillary play acted a role as co-President too so I suppose that makes her qualified a presidential candidate or a mafiosi capo.

Then again if she did win, I suppose it would be one in the same.

Maybe Palladian can do a new pic of Hillary filling one of Joe Pesci's scenes in Goodfellas to top it off.

As an Italian American, I was very greatful to Giuliani. You can argue that many of his cases did not hold up, but here was an Italian fighting the mafia, very openly and agressively.

Trooper York said...

Actually that wasn't the real story. This was made up by Scarpa to get props for being an informer. The only real hit was put out by Donna Hanover when she tried to hire Skinny Damico and Vinnie "The Mook" Gigilio to do a double on Rudy and Judi. Luckily, cooler heads prevailed.

I voted for Giuliani twice for mayor, so please don't claim I am some liberal troll, but that is possibly one of the dumbest things I have ever heard.

Seriously Ann, Giuliani once dressed up like Marilyn Monroe, doesn't mean he's being insensitive to those poeple who died of drug overdoses nor does it mean he is particularly sympathetic to the transgenedered community.

You can like Giuliani as much as you want. I disagree with you that he would make a good president, but whatever, but don't make the strawman argument that Giuliani put crime bosses away while Clinton pretended to be one. The Clintons did lots of good things we can point to while Giuliani was doing any number of stupid things we could point to. Doesn't make the Clintons any better or worse because of it.

Mobsters turned stoolie for the Feds can exaggerate. I am sure they were discussing Giuliani and others in "wouldn't it be great to whack some of those Feds??" terms, and not discussing Rudy as a potential Godfather to their kids. But - killing Feds would bring "Mississippi Burning" down on the 5 Families. Like the US sent 1,000 FBI to prosecute and if that failed threaten and railroad a pack of openly defiant, violent, anti-integration rednecks in the early 60s.

As for the Hillary Soprano spoof, I loved it. It was light, strove to show the "humanized her" - illusionally away from her constant Secret Security protection, hovering lesbian Praetorian Guard in power suits. Ordinary her, sitting in a cafe, ordering carrots for Bubba instead of vaginally threatening, hazardous onion rings. Our friendly Safety & Nutrition Nanny - knowing what's best for others.

Link to 35 million people that saw the last Sopranos episode.
Link to the great Journey song that Steve Perry didn't give in to oversinging and milking out notes on.

Shame Hillary was paying for it...because the only thing that could have been better is continuing the spoof to its ending:

Bill's eyes wandering, not to the Meadow/Hitman figure coming in, but to a plumply pleasing woman in a blue dress at the counter, whose head is framed out of the shot.
As Perry warbles...

"Ah singer in a Smo-Kay room, the smell of whiiinnee and chee-ap perfuuuuume! For a smile they can share the night"

With Hillary looking evily on and tossing slabs of butter into Bubba's carrot sticks, nodding along, lips pursed at:

"It just goes on and on and on..."

While he is distracted and moaning mildly. He oogles...as he hums along to:

"Streetlight people, livin' just to find emotion! Hiding - somewhere - in the niiight!
Working hard to get My Fill!
Everybody wants a Thriiillll!"

jewsyonkersislam # 428 Ann Althouse: Closet lesbian ? Poor thing... and its all the fault of feminist nonsense.

Below is a series of postings by me on Ann's blog. Anybody who doesn't know Ann should check her blog. She is a Profesor of Law at the University of Wisconsin Law School and is living in Brooklen Heights ( the lesbian mecca of NYC ) as she tries to write a book. It is my contention that she has fallen in love with me ( see my "rigorous" analysis of such... the proof lies mainly in her words to and about me). In additition to her words, there are comments by some of her readers about what I have written and done that are instructive and enlightening.
However, I am here replying to the comments of James.
He awards me points for my jyi # 427, but asks something to the effect that my life must be "miserable" if all I can do is post things that I know will be removed as soon as Ann sees them. So let me enlighten him a bit as I ask him what more he wants me to do.
For I have been permanantly and totally disabled from 13 years old when I was hit by a car, fractured my neck, lay in a coma for 40 days and awoke to find I was completely paralysed... .; I have seen the face of "God" and lived (indeed, that "face of ' God ' " is with me always ). In addition, I managed to become a lawyer, I practiced law for nearly 20 years in the (south) Bronx and Westchester Counties... as a general practitioner with a concentration in Family and Criminal defense work, I am a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army, Defense Intelligence Agency, I
have traveled the world -the Far East ( I spent a lot of time in China, Japan, Korea, the Phillipines...), the Mid East, Europe, South America ( Chile, Peru,
Bolivia...), North America... been to the Tropics and the Arctic... and, if you'd read my blog ( jewsyonkersislamiii-tc.blogspot.com ), you'd see what else I'm doing now.
As far as Ann, herself, she was a law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Leonard B. Sand, probably around the time when Judge Sand was playing bully in Yonkers, forcing his social engineering ideas on Yonkers in the desegration suit. And I was one of his most vociferous and outspoken opponents.( See: jewsyonkersislam-legal/actions.blogspot.com ). Indeed, I took a bullet ( was suspended from the practice of law -permanently ) because of my attacks on Judge Sand and his desegregation/social engineering nonsense AND my attacks
on feminism, homosexuality, lesbianism...; I was punished because I stood up for what I believed in. Today, Ann Althouse, one of Judge Sand's pets, is a law professor while I am living on social security disability.
But we Celts like a good fight, however long it takes to become settled.

It is best to use a syringe with at least a ½ inch long smooth tip, preferably a one piece syringe or one with a locking tip. If you feel you need a longer tip on the syringe, use a latex feeding tube rather then a tube extension. Never cut the latex feeding tube longer then the distance from the bird's beak to the middle of its crop. Make sure the feeding tube is securely fixed to the syringe. Recheck syringe and tube periodically. Birds can hang onto the tube and remove the tube from the syringe and swallow it. You are in big trouble if this occurs, as it will require surgical removal by a vet! I therefore only use feeding tubes on very hard to feed birds or very sick birds that have to be force-fed, or when I feed in public to prevent any accidental drowning of a bird if it gets distracted by strangers during feeding.

Once you have your materials ready, you can begin the feedings. When I first remove the babies from their nest they are at least 2-3 weeks old. I place them right into the aquarium with the heating pad set to Medium, or into a brooder set between 85 to 92F. If the babies are younger than 2-3 weeks, then I will put them into a small basket lined with paper towels and set the basket inside the brooder. (If you do not have a brooder, an aquarium will do.) I keep each clutch in one basket or bucket. This way they can cuddle together to keep each other warmer and hold their heads up on the side of the bucket

How about this from wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swift_Boat_Veterans_for_Truth

A major part of the SBVT controversy centered on the group's testimony. Among the first to question the first ad was Republican Senator John McCain, a Bush supporter, Vietnam veteran, and former POW. He said, "I condemn the [SBVT] ad. It is dishonest and dishonorable. I think it is very, very wrong".As a naval aviator in Vietnam, McCain had no firsthand knowledge of Kerry's service. The SBVT statements were accompanied by sworn affidavits, although one affiant, Al French, later admitted he had no firsthand knowledge of what he had sworn to.

The first SBVT ad was contradicted by the statements of several other veterans who observed the incidents, by the Navy's official records, and, in some instances, by the contemporaneous statements of SBVT members themselves.
Several major newspapers were also skeptical of the SBVT allegations. For example, a New York Times news article stated, "on close examination, the accounts of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth prove to be riddled with inconsistencies." ABC News's The Note opined, "the Swift Boat ad and their primary charges about Kerry's medals are personal, negative, extremely suspect, or false." Regarding the medal dispute, a Los Angeles Times editorial stated, "Not limited by the conventions of our colleagues in the newsroom, we can say it outright: These charges against John Kerry are false." The editorial argued this position on the basis that "Kerry is backed by almost all those who witnessed the events in question, as well as by documentation."

Try FactCheck.org:

http://www.factcheck.org/republican-funded_group_attacks_kerrys_war_record.html

A group funded by the biggest Republican campaign donor in Texas began running an attack ad Aug. 5 in which former Swift Boat veterans claim Kerry lied to get one of his two decorations for bravery and two of his three purple hearts.

But the veterans who accuse Kerry are contradicted by Kerry's former crewmen, and by Navy records.
One of the accusers says he was on another boat "a few yards" away during the incident which won Kerry the Bronze Star, but the former Army lieutenant whom Kerry plucked from the water that day backs Kerry's account. In an Aug. 10 opinion piece in the conservative Wall Street Journal, Rassmann (a Republican himself) wrote that the ad was "launched by people without decency" who are "lying" and "should hang their heads in shame."

And on Aug. 19, Navy records came to light also contradicting the accusers. One of the veterans who says Kerry wasn't under fire was himself awarded a Bronze Star for aiding others "in the face of enemy fire" during the same incident.

From the Billings Gazette:
http://www.billingsgazette.com/newdex.php?display=rednews/2004/09/01/build/state/25-swift-boat.inc

COLUMBUS - Swift boat veteran Bob Anderson of Columbus is ticked.

It bothers him that Sen. John Kerry's swift boat history has become such a political hot potato. But he's even more irritated that his name was included - without his permission - on a letter used to discredit Kerry.

"I'm pretty nonpolitical," the 56-year-old Anderson said Tuesday. So, when he found out last week that his name was one of about 300 signed on a letter questioning Kerry's service, he was "flabbergasted."

"It's kind of like stealing my identity," said Anderson, who spent a year on a swift boat as an engine man and gunner.

The letter, which was posted on the Swift Boat Veter-ans for Truth Web site, claims the Demo-cratic presidential candidate has "grossly and knowingly distorted the conduct of the American soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen of that (Vietnam) war."

The letter also criticizes Kerry for trying to change his image from a critic of the war to a war hero.

"After reading the letter," Anderson said, "it kind of got under my skin. I had never come across a situation where someone used my name without my support or approval. It's not a very comforting feeling."

What's worse, he said, he disagrees with the letter.

"Had they asked me to use my name, I wouldn't have allowed them to," he said.

Like I can't have a life?

I skimmed through the "evidence" and saw only one specific incident referred to, and then only vaguely.

And I see statements of what the Swiftboat Vets supposedly said, but not a quote or anything. They said Kerry lied to get his ribbons? That's simplistic. They said he submitted citations for himself.

He may well have done. Kerry never released all his Navy records that might have shown that information.

Is submitting your own recommendation a lie? No, it's not. (It also doesn't matter very much.)

They said his purple hearts didn't involve (at least two of them) an injury that kept him off duty a single day or even needed a single stitch.

No one said they weren't *technically* injuries. Has someone come up with evidence that Kerry *did* have injuries that took more than a shot and a bandaid? No, they haven't.

And if Bob Anderson got on a list he didn't want to be on, many more sailors got their faces plastered on Kerry campaign literature, an implied endorsement of Kerry without their consent.

The Swiftboat Vets (and I actually watched the interviews instead of listening second hand to people saying they were lying) refused to say that Kerry wasn't brave, because anyone on a Swiftboat had to be respected for bravery.

What they *said* was that he was a self-promoter (not a crime, and not *lying*... anyone in the service has known someone who self-promotes) and that he left after 4 months because he got 3 purple hearts that amounted to nothing much and had the option to go home.

What they hated him for was Winter Soldier, Paris, Genghis Khan, and throwing away his (someone else's) medals in a grand gesture and figuring he got to have them too, later, when he needed them for political promotion.

And he has *never* released all of his military records.

Personally, I think what he's hiding is his IQ score.

The official SBVT response to the Billings Gazette (which, interestingly enough, didn't actually try contacting SBVT to get their side of the story):

Official response to Billings Gazette:

From:
Swift Boat Veterans for Truth
Post Office Box 26184
Alexandria, Virginia 22313

Billings Gazette
Via Email

To the Editors:

We read with concern “Columbus Swift Boat Vet Angry About Letter” (September 1), and Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (SwiftVets) wanted to set the record straight.

On April 27, 2004, Rear Admiral Roy Hoffmann, U.S. Navy (Ret.), founder and chairman of SwiftVets, wrote an email appeal to many former officers and enlisted men who served in Swift boats and related commands and staffs.

His proposed letter to Senator John Kerry was attached. The Admiral concluded the email with this appeal: "We want you to join us, by lending your name to the letter to Senator Kerry...You need to let us know...[if] we can use your name. You can do so by replying to this email, with a ‘yes’…”

In addition, the Admiral added: "If you have other Swift sailors that you know of who might be interested in this, please forward this email to them..."

Many did forward the Admiral's email to other former Swift boat veterans, and the requested emails with “Yes” rolled in.

On Tuesday, April 27 at 9:43 p.m., an individual who identified himself as Robert Wedge said “yes” in the following email to the Admiral:

"Robert T. Wedge jr.
QM1 USN/Ret.
LST-848
PCF-3,64,67
1967,68,69
YES to Letter"

An individual who identified himself as Robert Andersen said “Yes” in this email to the Admiral May 6:

"Yes; I was on swifts July 1, 1969 to June 23, 1970…bob anderson EN2"

Admiral Hoffmann will endeavor to contact former Petty Officers Anderson and Wedge personally to confirm their desire to be removed from the letter.

If and when confirmed, we will remove their names. In the meantime, we wanted your readers to be aware of the the emails we received.

Additionally, we would ask all journalists to file inquiries with SwiftVets when their stories concern us. Channels for media and public inquiries can be found at www.swiftvets.com.

Sincerely,

Thomas C. Wyld
Communications Coordinator
Swift Boat Veterans for Truth

Their names were subsequently taken off the letter.

And, I'm assuming that antiphone *didn't* know what the Swiftboat Vets were supposedly fictitious about and had to go look it up.

Which was all I was asking... if antiphone knew what the lies were.

Did Kerry submit recommendations for his ribbons?

Do you know?

Did Kerry get injured worse that a short trip to the nurse, a shot and a bandage?

Do you know?

Did he go to Paris and meet with enemy representatives?

Was he involved in Winter Soldier?

Did he throw "his" medals away in a grand gesture and show up with them years later?

Did he testify to the Senate of events he had NO knowledge of?

Why yes, yes he did.
