Pie for breakfast, pie for lunch, pie in the afternoon

Red rasberry pie is my favorite.

I haven't had one since my mom died 20 years ago.

I never see them at a good pie shop or at a restaurant.

Don't miss this opportunity, Ann.

Which one did you buy and was it good, or was he a fraud and the pies commercial?

Those are only available under the table, Maxine!

Did you ask him if he was fond of Justice Scalia?

Why was Chuck Mangione selling pies?

Peter Hoh: Simple Simon met a pieman, going to the fair...

not Simon was a pieman.

In fact, if you ask him, he might just say he's a thigh man.

Peter Hoh said...

Ruth Anne, I think he's just after a piece.

Where's Loretta, today?

I didn't buy a pie. Just took pictures. But vnjagvet makes me wish I'd bought a red raspberry pie. Maybe next year.

Peter Hoh, LOL.

Peter: Yes, my first thought was "He wants to sell Ann a pie...and then help her eat it."

Can't say as I blame him.

Believe it or not, Sara Lee makes an excellent red raspberry pie. Frozen of course, so probably not up to the standards of the foodies who infest this site, but good enough for me.

Among twenty snowy mountains
the only moving thing
was the pieman coming.

I was of three minds,
like Simple Simon
looking at three pies.

Given that this is the "Pilgrim's Pantry," the gentleman's appearance, and the fact that he allowed his picture to be taken, I'm guessing that he is a Mennonite, which is to say, a member of the other major Anabaptist denomination (than the Amish) in America. Like all Anabaptists in America (as far as I know), they're of German descent. If there's one thing we folks of German descent know how to do, it's bake.

Never would I walk away from a Mennonite selling pies pieless!

His expression is weary and pleasant, like he just baked all of those last night and sampled each one.

A Texan will choose the pecan (pronounced "pee-con'") pie every time, warm it and top it with Blue Bell Natural Vanilla Bean. I guess the Midwesterners more have a thing for the raspberry.
