I am not a member of Facebook, but I do have a MySpace account, and used to see friends requests a lot. My own policy is simple: if I don't know you, I don't friend you. I only use MySpace to keep in touch with a few favorite musicians, so I know their tour schedules.
You had a friend in me, You had a friend in me, You had troubles, I got 'em, too, There isn't anything, I wouldn't do for you, Except keep you on my friends list.

Is there no need for privacy in homo computerus? I'm still resentful that I cannot see my nephew's wedding pictures unless I sign up for MySpace.
Keep smilin'
Keep shinin'
Knowin' you can always count on me
for sure
that's what friends are for
In good times
And bad times
I'll be on your side forever more
That's what friends are for
(Stevie Wonder)
From the article ( emphasis mine ):
This is like allowing a corsair-wielding pirate to board your vessel without a fight.
I would think a corsair would be pretty hard to wield, considering it's the pirate's own ship.
You had a friend in me,
You had a friend in me,
You had troubles,
I got 'em, too,
There isn't anything,
I wouldn't do for you,
Except keep you on my friends list.
(With apologies to Randy Newman)
