"Romney, Tancredo call for Brownback apology."
Is it wrong of me to find that headline funny? I mean, I myself love to pull the old apologize! apologize! routine, but still.... Romney's a serious candidate. Why is he even giving Brownback the time of day? And how did Tancredo get in on the action?

No, it's not wrong at all!
What's wrong -- or at least very lame -- is how often you employ this laughable apology act yourself!
Well, nobody knows lameness like you, ajd.
You know, I think that we may be witnessing the birth of a new thing in the blog universe, right here at Althouse -- the world's first (or at least, most obsessed and prolific) envy troll.
(Trademark Dave would have been first, but is disqualified by being such an obvious and crudely-programmed 'bot.)
It was always temporary.
When thinking about Romney especially, but on those rare occasions Tancredo or Brownback, it becomes time to put on Nelly Furtado.
"Oh you don't mean no-nothing at all to me..."
I bet Ron Paul could do a mean version of the twitchy "yeah" background vocal dude.
lol, Ruth Anne
She should put all four of them up and etch the last one in stone. After all, Althouse OWNS breasts.
Althouse: Bring out the Althouse and bring out the breast.
Now that was funny.
Brought back memories of that old flick "An Officer and a Gentleman".
You got a problem, Mr. May-On-Naise
No sir! No sir!
As for Brownback, the dolt thinks that if he takes the most extreme pro-like stance, the Religious Right somehow owes them their vote over less religiously pure sorts.
And he can do all the fun and games of schmoozing and cronyism inside the Beltway.
Now Senator Coburn is as prolife, but I respect the heck out of him and people like Bernie Sanders on the opposite end of the spectrum because they really do give a shit and want to fix problems. Tom Tancredo is definitely someone who really does care and was warning of the immigration catastrophe and the screwing the Elites were giving the middle class back when committed socialist populists and guys like Ross Perot were the only other ones.
But "Senator Snowflake" is a joke.
Both Romney and Tancredo want abortion to be a matter for state legislatures and Brownback's tactic of push-polling was dishonest & sleazy. Both were right to call him out on that. When you catch an opponent doing it, you blow him out of the water.
This--well, that is say, the larger "this"--is why a daily blogstop of mine is Post An Apology.
And I do mean daily. Like other exercises and rituals, it promotes fitness and perspective. And like other true disciplines, it fosters humility.
Also, quite frequently, it's pretty darn funny--and y'all know what they say about laughter, and medicine, and all that.
Reader--That is an absolutely great site! Thanks for the link!
Ann acknowledges: I myself love to pull the old apologize! apologize! routine
How come?
My take: Simels and the apologize, apologize! routine are related. Althouse uses the a/a routine much the same way she used the "but I doubt if any blogger will disagree" device - as a way to get a reaction from the audience. Simels fell for the routine for a while, but he actually smartened up. I hope that he's unique in that respect.
Brownback has a long history of brutal campaigning, then begging forgiveness to appear holier than thou ... check out an excellent detailed history of his behavior at www.rhrealitycheck.org
