She's Bill Clinton's date for the homecoming dance. Then she's going back to the university to deliver a lecture on reapportionment and Baker v. Carr. Too bad that skirt is made of wool. She'll never get the summa cum laude out.
I had that Barbie too! I didn't have that outfit, though. She's in very nice condition. Also had Midge, and a later model Barbie and Ken. I gave them all to my sister a few years ago, since she always liked them better than I did and she started to collect them.
When did I get, where did I How was I caught in this game When will I know, where will I How will I think of my name When did I stop feeling sure, feeling safe And start wondering why, wondering why Is this a dream, am I here, where are you What's in back of the sky, why do we cry Gotta get off, gonna get Off of this merry-go-round...
Upon looking more closely at the pictures, I have to modify my suggestion:
Barbie is here shown returning from the foot binder. She's been going regularly since she was two years old.
Without considering her more widely discussed anatomical improbabilities, the ratio of the size of her head to the size of her feet is truly remarkable.
It got to me, too. There was something so playful there, she had such a willingness to trust the camera.
And in those days I had a girl friend with Jackie's eyes and cheekbones, who has been forgotten for years until today. Now she is brought back with immediacy, not as the plumped suburband matron nor the soured multiple divorcee, but with those snapping eyes still alight.

Appearing at the premier of Girls, Girls, Girls!?
She's obviously ready to help complete the Port Huron Statement with her fellow Students for a Democratic Society.
I don't know what the occasion is, but if I were naming her I'd call her "Missiles of October Barbie."
Hmm, a celebration of the excommunication of Fidel Castro?
The dedication of Dulles International?
The inauguration of Jawaharlal Nehru?
A wake for Richard Nixon's political career? ("You won't have Dick Nixon to kick around any more.")
I know: the outfit was for the release party for "A Clockwork Orange".
I dunno, but that's an Andersen casement window. Vinyl clad exterior. Western white pine interior. Low E glass, I think.
Sorority Meeting! What a treasure that is!

Irene Done has the official correct answer, which says something about how informal we've become over the years, doesn't it?
tcd got the official Althouse blog answer.
tigerhawk made me laugh a lot.
Carry on.
*Maxine would approve of her 'do
Hey, here's a slideshow of Jackie Kennedy from Youtube: Jackie Kennedy
She sure was a babe in 1962. Not as good looking as my mother, though. If I posted a picture of her in 1962, it would break the internet.
When did I get, where did I
How was I caught in this game
When will I know, where will I
How will I think of my name
When did I stop feeling sure, feeling safe
And start wondering why, wondering why
Is this a dream, am I here, where are you
What's in back of the sky, why do we cry
Gotta get off, gonna get
Off of this merry-go-round...
She's a little strung out, the poor doll.
Thanks for the link Sipps. It really caught me off guard.
Ruth Anne, that handshake is going to be a problem for Barbie.
Her wrists look about as flexible as recent frequent commenter Doyle's worldview.
Sorry,
I mistook her for a Secret Service Detail stand-in for FLOTUS
I was thinking more of the premiere of "Manchurian Candidate."
Touring the newly-renovated White House with Mrs. Kennedy?
Charles Collingwood was a cross-dresser?
Cheers,
Victoria

Yeah, but have you seen her look-a-like granddaughter, Rose Schlossberg, recently?
Not as good looking as my mother, though. If I posted a picture of her in 1962, it would break the internet.
Come on, do it!
Instapundit's grandma (RIP) was a babe back in the day, too.
Cheers,
Victoria
Barbie's going bowling and she's wearing her lucky shoes.
*LOL*
My fave, so far, amongst the exquisite hilarity.
Cheers,
Victoria

Welcome to Decision '06, ladies and gentlemen.
We are predicting that the State of Florida is going to SippicanCottage's Mom.
Newsflash. This just in!
The AP is now confirming that the internets have indeed been busted upon gazing at the simply ravishing face of Mrs. S.
We believe this decision gives the election of Cutest Pic of Blogger Mom firmly to SippicanCottage.
God bless America.
Cheers,
Victoria
All dressed up for an assassination.
(VW yighk !)
Sipp: I bet my mother was (at least) as good-looking as your mother at any age. Duel?
amba-talk is cheap...
Reminds me of a stewardess on PanAm airlines.
That was going to be my comment, too.
Only, I was going with Braniff.
You think Pan Am could afford Chanel unis?
Cheers,
Victoria
amba-talk is cheap...
Ooh! Mee-ouch!
Amba, put up or shut up now!
Cheers,

Desegregation of the University of Mississippi.
