So my reaction to the roach is... hey, look, a bug. And my reaction to the pie is... ooooo, haven't had pecan pie in a while, I wonder if I have enough pecans to make one? (I use the pecans in a chicken-walnut curry recipie because I don't like walnuts.)

chuck b. said...: Actually, I made the visual association with cockroaches years ago, and it's never stopped me from LOVING pecan pie. It's one of my absolute favorites. Sometimes I make a chocolate pecan pie, which really amps up the cockroach look. It's delicious.

I also like to make a two-layer version, with a pumpkin pie layer underneath the pecan layer. I have a fabulous slash white trash Ritz cracker pecan pie recipe that people always like. Once I made a chocolate cream cheese layer for the top of the pecan pie...really, really good.
