Remember when Camille Paglia was in Madison last time. It was pretty amusing. She'll be back this Tuesday, April 11, at 7:30 pm, to give a talk called "Art and Politics in Literary Criticism."
Free, but you need a ticket: call 263-2201. It's at the Memorial Theater -- you know, where Alvy Singer met Allison Porchnik at the rally for Adlai Stevenson.
CORRECTION: No, the Stevenson rally is somewhere else, as my commenters remind me. Alvy goes to the Memorial Union later in the movie, when he's with Annie.
UPDATE: Thinking of going to this lecture? Think again.

I wonder why Paglia makes more appearances in madison than in New York. I onlly know one appearance she made here in the last year.
No, Paglia's wonderful. I love being reduced to a cultural stereotype.
Actually, giving it some thought, the Stevenson rally in the movie where Alvy met Allison was not in Madison. You're thinking of the later scene when Alvy does a show at UWM and then goes to Chippewa Falls with Annie to visit her parents, the Jew-hater Grammy Hall and Christopher Walken.
I agree with Palladian. Alvy Singer plays Memorial theater in the movie, but that's later, when he's already with Annie. Allison had already come and gone by that point in the movie.
Hey, you're right. Damn!
Don't call the Madison branch of UW, UWM. UWM is UW-Milwaukee. We call the Madison branch just UW.
CORRECTION: The University of Wisconsin - Madison is not called UWM as Professor Althouse reminds me, but simply UW, to avoid confusion with those pikers in Milwaukee.
LOL.
(I needed to be right about something...)
