I've always admired Camille. She would be great as the chancellor of a small liberal arts college.

Camille Paglia did not yell at me for taking her picture, because I had the flash off. Incidentally, that guy's head is the reason the picture is in black and white.

This is a little off topic, but I recently bought a copy of the Director's Cut of the Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone movie "Basic Instinct". I bought this version specifically because it has Camille Paglia doing a complete-film "commentary" of the movie. Although the film is sometimes considered sexist, for a variety of reasons, Camille says that it's one of her favorite movies, and her commentary is very enlightening.

Thanks for the tip on Basic Instinct. Paglia writes on film (although she is discounted by the academy), and BFI's little book by Paglia on Hitchcock is great. She is not a PC prude on portrayal of women and has some interesting thoughts.

PatCa: The DVD is available on Amazon, used, starting at about $12. It's an older edition, and you can find it by entering "Basic Instinct Collector's Edition Unrated" as a search on Amazon. To the best of my knowledge, this is the only version that has the commentary by Camille Paglia. The newer versions don't have it. It specifically says (if you're on the right Amazon page) that Camille Paglia is on the DVD. Her commentary runs for the full length of the movie (129 minutes).
