Attack of the bad Santas!About 40 men in ill-fitting Father Christmas costumes ran around Auckland vandalising or stealing property, and throwing bottles, police say....
Alex Dyer, a spokesman for the group, said Santarchy was a worldwide movement designed to protest the commercialisation of Christmas.
Are they protesting, or are they just trying to get away with a crime spree?
"With a number of people dressed in the same outfit, it was difficult for any witnesses to confirm the identity of who was doing what," Sergeant Rogers told Reuters news agency.

AWEsome! A mini-crimewave, nay, a tide.
....
I think I'll go watch The Tick now....
Ice, that would be Multible Santa. And yes, that was my first thought, and Yes, AGAIN, you beat me to the punch! How do you keep doing that?!?
Arrest spokesman Alex Dyer under terrorism laws (assuming NZ has any) and don't release him until he gives up every name he has.
I'm always amazed at how these groups whose only purpose is to engage in illegal activity have spokespeople who are seemingly never touched.
Sonic, I just happened to be up early today to go see the Rockettes, so it's their fault.
As for Multiple Santa, I just taped it (Outdated terminology! DVR'ed it!) last Monday. I am relishing the chance to sit down and watch it. It's not the best episode of The Tick, but it has my very favorite line, which I walked right up to earlier this morning, but wasn't quite willing to cross the line.
Incidentally, I think the best episode would be the one where Arthur kicks The Tick out of the apartment when The Terror attacks The City. So much to love about that one! Everything from the birth of the battlecrys, to The Tick's lament (When no one understands you, for the little things you do...), to Handy being constantly stymied by all the illiterate people around him... Ah, now that was fine comedy!
