"Standing alone, Mrs. Bush looked lovely."
"But next to Camilla, whose Robinson Valentino blazer and skirt made her look like a large rectangle, the first lady reminded one of a radiant bride shining brightly next to a dutifully bland bridesmaid." That's the description from WaPo's Robin Givhan, who also takes note of the President: "The president looked handsome in his tuxedo. For once he didn't have the body language of a kid with a bad sunburn forced to wear a wool suit."

This is a great segue to a post I've been thinking of doing for some time.
It has to do with a particular of Laura Bush's wardrobe.
See if you can think what I'm talking about -- she's truly popularised it and made it much more mainstream than ever.

One of the saddest consequences of a very anti-Bush MSM is that the little things which humanise a person, especially a President, are not reported.
I don't think I have EVER heard anyone comment favourably on this President's suits, which are exceptional (mostly from Oxxford, although apparently he also has a French tailor).
His ties may be very bland and repetitve, but he is quite elegant for a man considered such a garçon eternel.
And added to the fact that he usually wears a Kevlar vest underneath in public...
Cheers,
Victoria
Okay, Victoria, I'm stumped! What is it?
Even the NYT has to admit they are a good looking couple. He is quite buff, IMO, and fills out a suit quite nicely. Compare jogging photos of Clinton and Bush.
Wait, no, don't.

Shh! Wait until you read my blogpost on it. ;)
Hint: it's a kind of suit she wears all the time, as opposed to some of the time.

Yes.
Of course the NYT hated the Clintons -- he for his fiscal conservatism, her for her saddle-bags.

Yes, but President Clinton actually must've gotten tips about his grooming because if you compare his 1992 photos with his awful plastic Timex watches, and later, his Rolex Mariner, as well as his chucking the Daisy Dukes for jogging, and his $500 airport-delaying haircuts, he certainly got better.
Wait, no, don't.
Yes, best not.
Presidents are like fathers. I don't want to think of their tight abs and glutes.
Cheers,
Victoria
