Congratulations, Ann. I'm on record as being one of, if not the only, critic of your first podcast. I've refrained from further comment since I remain critical but clearly this nomination proves I know nothing at all about these things.
"Are you the one who wanted me to try to sound more like a professional radio announcer?"
Sort of. I did have a problem with the inflections of your voice and my point may have been construed to mean just that but, really, all I was doing, I believed, was trying to give an honest assessment. I'd meant no harm and could find no gentle way to criticize and, thus, haven't. (Well, until now, I guess.)
Anyway, my wish for your good luck remains. In this case, it's a pleasure to be proven wrong.
I think the podcast is a good companion to the blog because it really *does* sound like verbal blogging... it has a kinda cozy, personal feel, and is not at all rehearsed or performance-y. Anyhoo, congratulations!
Anselm: "Can you imagine going back in time 5 years and trying to explain this hot new mode of mass communication, see, it's a podcast about a blog."
Yeah, it's funny. It wasn't that long ago that I was saying to my son "Remind me again what a blog is." Maybe 5 years ago. But podcast! That's something I just heard of this year, and I was all, oh, no, don't replace blogging, blogging's better. Don't tell me I have to podcast now too! Now, I'm all: ooh, tomorrow's a podcast day!
Anyway, feel free to go over and just vote in the podcast category. See the link to the vote page in the sidebar? But don't vote for the podcast just because you like the blog. Listen to the podcast! Then vote for it.
I dislike having to vote for 4 other categories in order for the podcast vote to count. I am so uninformed on those. Here's an idea: send Althouse voters to 4 other specific categories. When we swarm the vote for your podcasts, the other 4 will win as well. Sort of a straight-party vote for the house of Alt. You pick. We vote. Early and often.
I don't see how anyone can vote competently, because several languages are involved. I went to the nominated blogs, but I couldn't read them, unfortunately.

Congrats, Professor.
What took them so long?
Something about this blog, once you're on board it's hard to imagine life without it.
But it's for the podcast, not the blog. I'm only 14 episodes into the podcast. Of course, it's a podcast about a blog...
But it's for the podcast, not the blog.
Just stacking my kudos for the whole enterprise.

TIC...
Can you imagine going back in time 5 years and trying to explain this hot new mode of mass communication, see, it's a podcast about a blog...
Audible Althouse--it's a PODCAST---about the odd last few days on a BLOG called "Althouse".
Can't get that song out of my head. Now my 3 year old son is singing it, too. He only gets podcast and blog right, but he's trying.
You better win.
Congratulations and good luck.

Good luck.

Didn't I say you had a great podcast voice??
Congratulations!
Pete: Are you the one who wanted me to try to sound more like a professional radio announcer?
Fiona: Thanks. I did not think my voice had a good tone, but do have an idea about a speech pattern that I think is podcasty.

It's gotta be the theme music!

But you can vote in just the podcast category.
