"[T]his relationship is pathological, and a source of great irritation among other courtiers. It is Trump distilled to his essence..."

"... cult leader and his most rabid follower, narcissist and his most flattering mirror. The daughter of a devoutly Christian real estate broker who died by suicide during the pandemic, [Natalie] Harp idolizes Trump with a rare fervor.... ... Trump told his staff that Harp was the only one who loved him as much as his wife and kids did. 'She’ll never leave me,' he would tell other staffers.... It’s a perfect (taxpayer-funded) relationship. She thinks he’s amazing. And he agrees."

Writes Maureen Dowd, in "Natalie’s Magnificent Obsession" (NYT gift link).

"Obsession" is the title of a current movie that is, as Dowd tells us, "about a man who wishes for more adoration from a young woman, who falls under his spell and maniacally provides it."

I haven't seen it. And I haven't seen "Magnificent Obsession," but I know it's a 1954 movie starring Ronald Reagan's first wife:

ADDED: After reading Dowd's column, I scribbled this at Grok, writing quickly, without the intention of sharing it, but I'm sharing it:
I'm interested in they way many women in the workplace are competitive with other women in a way that's actually sexist — judging that other women are getting more than they deserve because of their looks and/or imagining that sexual things are going on. They're actually impeding the progress of women... or are they trying to help some subset of women by pulling particular women down? (I'm thinking about the reaction to Natalie Harp.)
And then I connected the Natalie Harp foofaraw to this passage from "President Kennedy: Profile of Power" (commission earned) that my son Chris — reader of presidential biographies — had just texted to me last night. We join the Cuban Missile Crisis in progress.
The line that felt relevant to this post: "You are allowed to bring one secretary."

It feels so "Dr. Strangelove"...

"The women will have to be selected for their sexual characteristics which will have to be of a highly stimulating nature.”

There is a letter she wrote to Trump that expresses the adoration I'd imagine Trump wishes he had from... practically everybody. Then again, who wouldn't wish such a thing for themselves? Trump just has the audacity of saying it/intimating it/insinuating it... out loud.

Daily Beast : "Natalie Harp’s intimate letters to Donald Trump are being revealed in full for the first time—showing her spilling her heart and saying she is “unworthy” of him."

“You are all that matters to me,” Harp writes to Trump, “I don’t want to ever let you down.”

Dowd, “ The daughter of a devoutly Christian real estate broker who died by suicide during the pandemic…”

If true, why is that in this opinion piece? To slime a hardworking government employee who is helping the President.

Dowd, a psycho who has never been married, is implying that this young woman sees Trump as her deceased father. Disgusting.

The Left has fabricated a sexual relationship between Harp and the President. No Russia hoax so they have to make up the Natalie hoax.

The reference to the movie “Obsession” is appropriate. The Left and the Press are obsessed with “getting” Trump. Every day it is a parade of stories attacking Trump. Personal attacks. Lies. Fantasies. One hour it is the ballroom. The next hour it is the war in Iran. Turn on NPR, CNN or MS Now and I can guarantee you that 80% of each broadcast day is anti-Trump crap.

This is just another example of why TDS is the most serious mental health problem in America today. Also another example of why America hates the Fake News.

And never forget that the Dems cooked up criminal charges against Trump and tried to jail him. Donald Trump is the toughest guy in the world and he’s our President. He fights for us. That’s why the Left is obsessed with destroying him.

Maginficent Obession was a great looking movie. Technicolor is fantastic. But the story was hard to get through. Hudson is a mere gardener, in love with well to do middle-aged Wyman. All her snooty friends and family tell her to break off the relationship, but she has a fever and the only cure is Rock Hudson.

IRC, Hudson is supposed to a manual laborer, but he quotes thoreau, and looks well in a Tux, and can hold his own at the Cocktail party.

He's a sort of 50s version of Meade.

When Donald J. Trump is the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning; remains top of mind all day, influencing everything you do, say, and write; and is the last thing you think about before you collapse into fitful dreams of him – is there a word to describe that condition?

“The senator was lambasting the commander in chief for his erratic, pathetic handling of the Iran war….”

VDH has the full explanation. Trump is destroying Iran’s economy. The blockade is working. Iran is debanked. Army is quitting. Iran is losing $500m per day.

Before October, we will launch devastating strikes. Another layer of leadership taken out. We hit a few power plants and bridges. And the people will rise up with the weapons we have smuggled in. We win. Dems and NYT hardest hit. GOP holds the House. No impeachment.

David Axelrod, a senior adviser to Barack Obama....'

...'The two letters were handed to author and Inside Trump's Head host Michael Wolff ...'

Has anybody read the 'intimate' letters yet? Michael Wolff, eh? David Axelrod, eh? John Osshoff, eh? Why what a remarkable theme, the friends and allies of Donald Trump, one after another, all coincidentally appearing in this lurid tale. And such unimpeachable witnesses, too.

Not so lurid if you just read the alleged letters, quoted without evidence, though.

No. In real terms, the U.S. economy grew 7.7% during Trump's first term, 13.4% during Biden's term, and 2.9% in Trump's second term to date, a rate that extended to a full term would be a bit under 8%. Trump's first term looks worse than it otherwise would have and Biden's term looks better than it otherwise would have because of the Wuhan coronavirus. But Trump was in charge when the outbreak occurred and his decisions were partly responsible for the sharp drop in economic activity that resulted.

Oh, go fuck yourself, Freder. We all know EXACTLY what Ossoff was doing when he brought it up.

Maureen Dowd? Still? What's next? HL Mencken to attack Trump in an NYT op ed?

Going to be hard to do. While MAGA babes are often hot, leftist women tend to be the opposite. Weird hair, weird. Tats. Often somewhere from overweight through obese.

How much of the Biden era growth was just a natural recovery after the economic shutdown in 2020? How much inflation was Biden's overstimulation of the economy responsible for?

That’s right. fanfarrón is a polite way of saying brownnose.

There is a lot about Trump to be attracted to, especially if you want great things for this nation, and even some women want that.

Achilles (10:51 AM) wrote, "Trump is growing the economy at a faster rate than Biden did."

The data are here: https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/GDPC1

Achilles, you have a habit of polluting the comment section with easily refuted falsehoods. It marks you as an ill-informed blowhard.

LOL you are claiming a growth rate of 13+% for Joe Biden.

This is how stupid you have to be to be a democrat.

Lies, damn lies, and statistics.

People like "Kurt Schuler" rely on survey data.

What a total crap fest of a post from our Constitutional Law Professor, Ret'd. Maybe there was a similar media pile on for Obama's aide (side piece?), Reggie Love, who went "everywhere" with him. I remember there were several "right wing" sights brought it up but all was quickly memory holed.
BTW, as everyone posting (Anne)/commenting here should realize the "letter" was because DJT got her into an experimental drug test program which saved her life.

None of my sources report any contact with Mitch McConnell, except for Natalie Harp, who says that in a recent two hour call, the Kentucky senator assured her that Trump totally wants to marry her but is playing hard to get.

Why's IEE complaining about 40 T debt and also high bond yields <> doesn't one begat th'other

Indefinitely Extended Excursion™️ said...

Yes, they’re related, but “one begets the other” is an oversimplification. High debt can push yields higher, while higher yields make servicing that debt more expensive, creating a nasty feedback loop. But yields also reflect inflation expectations, Fed policy, economic growth, Treasury supply and investor demand. So there’s nothing contradictory about worrying about both—the concern is the interaction between them. You’re welcome.

And three years from now, what will we be hearing about this? What deceits will what Dems be acknowledging? What will they be saying that "Everybody knew?" Everybody knew Maureen Dowd was fighting to keep her increasingly irrelevant column by sounding more and more like People magazine?

I'll stick with this one: "Obsession is a 1976 American psychological horror thriller film directed by Brian De Palma, starring Cliff Robertson, Geneviève Bujold and John Lithgow"
Better story, better acting. No Dowd.

If only Trump had not fucked other women while married to Melania, this whole Natalia story might have meant something. But now that Donald is past the age of fucking anything but our economy, it is time to put this story to rest.

Achilles claims "Capital is flooding into the US."
What a load of bullshit. Of course he doesnt provide multiple sources to back up this wild claim.

In fact, when faced with data contradicting his growth claims, he provided nothing but an insult in response. Complete and utter lies from Achilles as usual.

The facts: “Trump’s Economic Challenge: $40tn Debt, 6.7% Mortgages and $5 Diesel.” - Financial Times. 33 percent job approval.

Bruce Hayden said...

“None of my sources report any contact with Mitch McConnell, except for Natalie Harp, who says that in a recent two hour call, the Kentucky senator assured her that Trump totally wants to marry her but is playing hard to get.”

The issue, of course, is control of the Senate (which the Dems stole in 2020 with the election cheating they did to put Biden in office - netting them probably 6 seats). With a Rep Governor, he would have done the honorable thing and resigned. But he’s alive, and not in a coma, and using the Joe Biden precedent, can’t be removed - though his Dem Governor is sure trying.

Interestingly though, Sen Fetterman seems to be the opposite case. He had a major stroke, was mostly written off, then recovered. Much to the dismay of his fellow Dems, as he continues to move right as he does.

Kurt Schuler said...

Achilles (6:25 PM): I clearly stated the growth numbers as being totals over four-year presidential terms, not annual rates. The rate for Biden, whether expressed as a four-year totals or as an annual average, is considerably higher than it is for Trump. I voted for Trump, but the facts are the facts.

Dude you think about Trump’s penis too much and you never learned to read for comprehension. The NYT had the first breathless and salacious take expanding on Ossof’s jerky aside the NEXT day in order to prime its readers who, like Freder, can’t wait to hear more about Trump’s dick.

FF and MoDo. Two scorned obsessives.

Manufacturing is making capital investments which are not short term but are already contributing to the growing boom in the US economy. No nothing Mark can shit on it but the facts speak for themselves. More direct investment by Americans and foreign companies breaking ground on huge projects. If you are still unaware then you should read actual corporate reports instead of second hand corporate media lies.
