It was way higher than 4 times.

I was shopping for insurance and I inputted $200k and $300k and $500k incomes.

Only $500k didn't have any subsidy. $200k has $1100/month.

Same as the first Trump administration. Lots of noise. Lots of petty identity politics. Zero results. No meaningful change in inflation. No investment in infrastructure. Housing costs still going through the roof. Living costs are high and continue to rise.

Tuesday's election results marked the end of the Trump coalition. Trump will not be on the ballot again and his cult of personality will not be replicated. Marginal Trump voters like independents, Latinos, and black men voted Democrat this time, showing they are not enduring Trump or Republican voters. By this time next year, Trump will be a lame duck.

Fair enough Bagho & Greg but the textbook tribal allegiance overpowering reasoning looked awfully hard to crack. Here’s a shot;

Growth is weakening. Surveys and forecasts suggest modest growth, around 1–2% real GDP for 2025 — much slower than the long-term trend.

Consumer sentiment is dropping, reaching its lowest levels in years, which could foreshadow weaker spending and investment.

The job market is showing cracks: private reports indicate job cuts and a slowdown in hiring.

The federal budget/fiscal side is a concern from high national debt.

And there’s just no rational argument that tariffs, immigration round ups and the big ugly bill will not lead to higher costs.

Bagoh, I’m glad business is good for you — that’s always encouraging to hear. But a few of those points deserve a closer look.

Much of that corporate investment wave was announced before Trump returned to office, and a lot of it’s tied to the CHIPS and Inflation Reduction Acts that companies are still building out. Tariff revenues aren’t new money — they’re paid by U.S. importers and ultimately passed on to American consumers. And while inflation has cooled, it was already trending down well before January.

I didn’t say things are terrible or that Trump has ran it in the ground- the economy’s resilient and it usually is after Democrats pick up the pieces. It’s not as simple as giving all credit or all blame to one man. But I am arguing that Trump’s policies- tariffs, immigration, slashing safety nets, and shifting more wealth to the top is an economic storm brewing.

Trump has deteriorated markedly over the last few years. He now looks and sounds like a very old man.

It's reasonable to say now that Trump is post-peak and indeed Tuesday's election results marked the end of the Trump coalition. A key reason is that Trump will not be on the ballot again and so those 'out-of-the-woodwork' Trump voters in past presidential elections will no longer be voting for him. And given that Trump is a cult of personality, no other Trump-like candidate is likely to recreate Trump's MAGA coalition.

Additionally, Tuesday's results showed that marginal Trump voters including many independents, Latinos, and black men voted Democrat this time, proving that they were not enduring Republican voters.

The combination of lower propensity Trump voters not voting, and marginal Trump voters swinging back to Democrats spells doom for Republicans in next year's midterm elections. As it stands now, it looks a lot like how 2018 turned out for the GOP. And if there is another blue wave in 2026, with Democrats likely taking control of the House and possibly even the Senate, Trump will be a lame duck the rest of his presidency, with little political power and a lot of pushback from Congress.
