"'The End of History?' offered a rough template for the end."

"Today, chances are, if your book is titled 'The End of' something, it’s long, contradictory, disputable — but still feels irrefutable. And if you spend enough time with these books and articles, five distinct types of ends emerge, with varying degrees of credibility, bombast and persuasiveness."

That's the end of the first screen of a 4-screens-long WaPo article on books with titles that begin "The end of." I stopped there. It felt like the end, and yet I knew it wasn't really the end. Except to the extent that it was.

Now, I see the first comment over there is: "I would read this whole article, but it's the End of the Week and I'm at the End of My Rope."

Ha ha. Does anyone click to page 2?

It's the end of the world as we know it?

It's problematic, implementing a business model that condescends to a sophisticated market.

It's column filler for when there aren't enough letters.

In Britian, you could have said fag end, which is not the same as Bag End, which is sort of the same as Baggins.

Everybody wants to be at THE END:
Nobody wants to be
A pebble in the endless tide,
A little bit of aimless grit, forfend.

Allen--
How do you like the Swing-A-Way can opener? Is it the end of your search for one that works? They used to be a lot more heavy duty, but I have a current model too and it beats everything else hands down.

Everywhere I've ever been
Things are just about the same
Think I've finally found my home
But I end up on the run again
I think I've reached the end of the line

My very own song, "The End of the Line."

The end of The End, and no one will miss it (or them).

"The Patient Zero of the end times has to be Francis Fukuyama’s “The End of History?” in 1989.-----This erudite, sprawling work replete with Marx and Hegel references became a sensation — debated and dissected by scholars, journalists and politicians around the world. And it planted the 36-year-old Fukuyama on the big-thinker map."

Endlessly praised by Marxists. Endlessly wrong. Endlessly pretentious. Endlessly arrogant. Endlessly profiles a very small thinker. And endlessly examples everything that is wrong with American education.

It's the beginning of a new week so I read the whole thing. It doesn't break any new ground. It must be the end of new ideas.

Louis L'Amour once quoted an old French proverb, "To kill a man is not necessarily to make an end of him".

Ends almost always mark beginnings.

Darrell, it's absolutely great. Better than my P38. I would have thanked you, but by the time I received it, I couldn't remember who suggested it. Again, thanks!

I make that don't bother continuing reading decision about 50 times a day. Sites are too irritating to continue.

I don't like being jabbed in the ribs, made to wait, forced to watch or hear something else, stalked with networking links, offered suggestions along the way, or worse of all given a little jab at the end. I don't want to click fifteen times to read something. I'm arriving at the conclusion that if a site contains those things then that means people are using them and only total dummkopfs would appreciate that so leave immediately. Up to now I've been moving the window to clip off distracting things and copy/pasting if the site is too annoying into a clean page but now I'm becoming a lot less patient. And pajamas media flat pisses me off with their penchant for "view this on one page" Why wouldn't I want that? Legalisurrection too, how am I supposed to read that site? Is it intended to be a two-window site? Is it intended I go back and forth? I do realize it is intended to skipidy-doo-dah along and pick and choose, but honestly, how is it intended to be read? The rest, Breitbart and Thedailycaller are becoming too goofy with sidebar distractions, to put up with and their commenters do appear the type that accepts or welcomes distractions and links to network sites.

I'm surprised you laugh at a cliché.
