Hooters it is.
That part was very frustrating for him
You not caring about where to go was not frustrating for him. You complaining about where he chooses, or just generally being an unpleasant dinner partner was.
I'm on a GLP-1 (compounded tirzepatide) and it does curb your appetite. Even when I'm not hungry, I still think of my next meal and do care what I eat, even with smaller portions.
The "food noise" -- is that the constant craving to fill the belly? If she also lost all joy in food and conviviality that's probably something she should discuss with her doctor or therapist, rather than with the New York Times.
Inventing problems where problems don’t exist.
As long as her GLP ennui doesn't extend to sex, I'd be fine picking the restaurants from here on out.
I didn't have to sleep, to eat, to eliminate... I was free at last.
This should not be. problem. My wife and I have radically different diets, and we remain happily married after 51 years. She eats very light meals and I eat ... a lot in pursuance of https://johntannersbbqblog.wordpress.com. There's always something on the menu for both of us.
So the modern person will take GLP-1's which reduce their dopamine response and SSRI's which reduce their anxiety levels and therefore not experience the highs or the lows. Both the carrot and the stick are withered. People will just exist, listlessly letting the momentum of life carry them forward.
That being said, while I would not take them myself, I think GLP-1's are very helpful if they can help more people get to a healthier weight.

Well, it is not an ennui problem but GLP does extend, negatively, to sex in that all of that flappy loose skin is singularly sexually unattractive. Ask around...

So just make up something. The way he does when you ask how you look.
"So just make up something."
Yeah, all problems should be so simple.

I'm guessing any frustration lies elsewhere.
I've lost >25 pounds. Wouldn't invest in restaurants or bars. If You have 1 appetizer you can suddenly feel full/ have no desire to take another bite. If you have > 1 drink, you can feel nauseated. But for many of us, we look fantastic (including naked) and our other base hungers have not abated. To the extent it leads to divorce it may be that one partner suddenly feels so much better about their body, may have increased sex drive (GLP-1s may decrease it too), and knows they are now potentially attractive again to others. This can throw off the balance in a marriage. I'm too old for this to be an issue, but people in 40s or 50s where one gets thin and the other stays fat, or both lose weight, but drives get changed in different directions . . . I could see it being a problem.
So two fatties get married due to their love of food, and one stops loving it. And they get divorced. How shallow can you get? I guess, thin and shallow.
If it didn’t matter were “we go”, why we? If she’s not hungry, she can somewhere else.
Years ago I noticed a local uptick in divorces among women who had undergone "stomach-stapling". It had far less to do with the change in dietary habits than in the extramarital affairs in which they became entangled after the weight loss.

Something tells me that this woman is lying.
I am 100% sure there were things she was apathetic about that were far more frustrating to him.

So go for ribs, or steaks, and she can order or not order as she likes. What frustration?
Three of the higher end restaurants in Burlington, VT have closed in the past couple of weeks. I think that GLP-1 inhibitors are part of it. I also think that people don't like being pressured to leave 25% as a minimum tip, either. It's also true that without the investment in AI and the economic activity that comes from building it out, we would be in a recession right now.
You can also boost GDP growth simply by undercounting inflation.
Same thing happens when you break carb addiction after going carnivore. But unlike the glp1 drugs that cause loss of muscle and bone mass, carnivore heals and builds body and mind and silences food noise.

Sometimes you’ve gotta just jump in and swim. Do what the chubby-chasers are said to do: “Be bold with the fold”… “Nooks and Crannies. That ain’t your Granny”.
“It's also true that without the investment in AI and the economic activity that comes from building it out, we would be in a recession right now.“
Do you believe that without AI investment the capital would disappear and not be invested in something else? The only bad thing to do with money is to give it to the government and spend it on unbuildable super trains and such that just make affiliated attorneys multi millionaires, which just drives up real estate prices and the cost of fine automobiles to no one’s good.
Dining is not the issue with this couple. How hard is it to say something like "why don't you choose, I'll make do with an appetizer" or similar. The real issue is she doesn't want to dine with him at all.
Sounds more like she doesn't want to participate anymore. I've heard that GLP-1s can do that to people. It doesn't just affect hunger. It affects appetite for everything.
One good effect of the GLP wave, IMO ,has been that restaurants have been making their portions smaller. I think a secondary effect is also that they are going the extra mile to make their food more palatable, more tasty.
For a while, at least around here, portions were gigantic, something a normal appetite could easily make 2 meals out of. I used to ask for a 'to go' box almost 100% of the time (but we don't eat out very much).
The other thing is, this might spark a resurgence in buffets. If a portion of your clientele is on a GLP protocol, their appetites are going to diminish - while those who are not, will want more. Maybe it's best to let the customer serve themselves.
Seems like for many menu items, it would be pretty easy to offer more than one portion size.
When GLP means you don't want to stuff yourself, why eat out? But isn't dining out about more than food? New kinds of food; foods you can't make at home; interesting decor; music; people you know - all that. I'll bet restaurants become more interesting places as a result of lowered appetites.
The GLP-1 trend reminds me of the Anorexia trend. Granted, reduced food intake does seem to help people who have a medical problem that is caused by weight, but we have all these people who are taking GLP-1s just to look better. And the sad part is that they're giving up so much and they're not really looking better. They tell themselves they're looking good, but they aren't. I see celebrities that I don't recognize anymore because it makes them look so different. I've seen stories about people sending away for these cheaper, unregulated drugs online and injecting themselves with God knows what.
And about the food, it's not that the GLP-1s make them want smaller portions. It makes them not want any food at all, so they get no enjoyment from eating anything. It reminds me of what happened to the people on the planet, Miranda, in the movie, Serenity. "Please God, make me a stone."
Seriously people, if you really want to look better, just do some research and get some nice clothes and a nice hairstyle.
And get some nice hats. "People don't wear enough hats."
