Paxton wins and gives us a dose of his comedy stylings.

I know some people seem to think that's hilarious. I don't see the value of kicking someone around for being a vegan. You'll say but Althouse is not a Texan. I sort of am though.

AND: Paxton's satirizing of Talarico doesn't work on me, but Talarico just being Talarico strikes me as hilarious:

Sorry, COVID *as* a dangerous illness was way over by then.

And of course it was clear almost from the start that it was only dangerous to the elderly, the obese, and those with preexisting conditions like heart disease.

Paxton makes even Kamala look charismatic. - Mark

Well, that would certainly explain why he got nearly 64 percent of the vote over a long-term incumbent.

Covid was 2020. If someone's still wearing a mask in 2022, the point remains he's a stupid little freak wearing a mask.

And Paxton looks like like a televangelist the day after he gets caught sucking off a trucker at a rest stop. My whole point is: what if we didn't elect perverted televangelists any day of the week no matter what party they belong to?

"Six gender Jimmy" is the best.

Texas is a cattle ranching State, and Paxton needs rural voters. Both groups are going to look at "keep teh Vegan out of office" as an existential issue that will get them to get out and vote, so yes pointing out the "Vegan" thing is very good for Paxton

NPR is crowing that Paxton's runoff rout is 'an opportunity' for them, in Texas. They're going to sweep all those rural voters that have put distance between themselves and the Democrat party. And for themselves, they have an exciting lineup of 'younger' democrat politicians coming out of the runoffs. I guess they're sending some flowers to Al Green.

For those wondering why Democrats avoid alpha male candidates, I give you, the nominee from Maine...

Platner commented on a viral helmet cam video of Private First Class Ted Daniels getting shot in Afghanistan. “This video never gets old,” scoffed Platner, “Dumb motherfucker didn’t deserve to live. At least his stupidity and fat ass wheezing are available for all future infantrymen to witness and hold in contempt. Poor marksmanship on the Taliban’s part is the only reason this mouthbreather made it home, he managed to make every possible shit decision possible when it comes to small unit combat.”

That sounds like a certain kind of alpha male, one who mocks the weak. You might call him a wolf. The Democrat party is filled with wolves.

Another kind of alpha male stands between the wolf and the flock. That's the sheepdog.. Eastwood's camera focuses on the Holy Bible as his narrator gives this speech. There's a reason for that.

Already, the Democrats are worried about their alpha dog in Maine.

$90 million. That’s what Cornyn burned on ads spelling out exactly who Ken Paxton is: a man indicted for securities fraud, impeached by his own Republican legislature for bribery and abuse of office, and caught having an affair while lecturing Texas families about virtue.

Indicted for securities fraud, indeed. But apparently never convicted. Or for that matter, even tried. I recall reading something about it at the time as a political hit job, nothing more, nothing less. Lack of conviction or even a trial indicates the case against him was weak, at best. Sort of like Trump's 34 felonies which will, eventually, be overturned.

Impeached by the, and not found guilty by the Texas senate. Sounds familiar... IIRC my reading at the time, it seems as AG he had a bad habit of pursuing justice against the politically influential and some other politicians found that distasteful.

Democrats have taught the American people that affairs are meaningless. Even with interns in the oval office.

What if we elected truckers who get sucked off at rest stops? They see more of America than anyone else. And feel, I guess....CC, JSM

One of Paxton's vulnerabilities, according to NR:

Walking scandal machine Ken Paxton, who leaves a trail of slime everywhere he goes, is expected to win over incumbent John Cornyn, thanks to President Trump’s strangely delayed endorsement. (Our Jeff Blehar recalls, “Paxton fired multiple whistleblowers in the Texas attorney general’s office for revealing that they had been forced to employ one of his mistresses, and then he was forced by a district court to pay out $6.6 million in damages to them, all with taxpayer dollars.”

Alleged mistress! Anyway, it will be interesting to see if Democrats try to go after him for sexual improprieties.

Talarico may single handedly bring cultural issues into play this election. Democrats need to focus on gas prices and econommy...even though they have zero answers for that.

But if its back to transing the kids and gay stuff....

Jupiter wants to know why Talarico (the stupid little freak) is wearing a mask? The only stupid freaks around are those who failed to open the displayed X posting to discover that he was speaking to a crowd in 2022, dead in the middle of Covid.

How does that make him any less of a retard?

Masks were always stupid and only stupid people like Talarico and stupid people like you believed they were a good idea.

Covid started in 2019. For that X posting to be "dead in the middle of Covid", that would mean Covid didn't end until last year. I'm sure some of the more neurotic leftards would have been ecstatic if all that covidiocy had actually lasted that long, but no- that didn't happen.

I'm a firm believer in term limits. 3 for Senators and 9 for House. I would also put a limit on pensions. 2 years.

I forgot to add, 2 years at full pension with 20% decrease each year after.

It should be "Six sexes Jimmy", because he actually said there are "six biological sexes", trying to count every possible combination of duplicate chromosomes that can occur, but those are not sexes. Two sexes: one produces sperm, and one produces eggs, and there are no bacon producing sexes.

I had a female sponsee in that sprituality-based 12 Step program who, when asked to read "How It Works" referred to our Higher Power as "she" and "her". Afterwards I told her she would never be sober or humble enough to re-write Bill W.'s prose and to knock it off. Adjusting the program to fit one's personal style and beliefs is what gets one drunk again. She later drank some mouthwash. I hope it was Dollar Tree stuff.

A couple of thoughts about Texas:
1. The reason Texas is viewed so positively, even though Texans consider themselves a breed apart, is that they are so patriotic. It doesn’t work for Seattle or California because their view of themselves implies a rejection of American values.
2. This story comes from a coworker whose family moved to Texas many years ago. They had moved from another state that prohibited fireworks, so this was their first year in Texas, their first Fourth of July in Texas, and their first experience with fireworks. All their neighbors were setting off fireworks in their driveways. When my coworker’s family set off their own, they had placed them on an unstable platform, and the fireworks fell off, went sideways, and hit the neighbor’s garage door across the street - making the biggest, god-awful bang with sparks flying everywhere. They were mortified. Shocked silence . . . and then whoops and cheers from all their neighbors. Texas.
