I presume hardcore Democrats, focused on winning the Texas Senate seat, don't want Crockett to win the primary.

Ezra Klein says: "The biggest concern I hear about you in Texas is that you’re sort of a liberal’s idea of what a Christian politician should be." And, really, we all know the way liberals use Christianity... whether they make viral video or not. But Talarico has advanced to where he is because he put the standard argument into the form of viral video.
But the Talarico's video that's out there includes things that can be cherry-picked and used against him. Klein confronts him with clips that were used in an attack ad against him (not by Crockett, but by another candidate, Terry Virts, who has dropped out).
Talarico Clip 1: Modern science obviously recognizes that there are many more than two biological sexes. In fact, there are six.Klein asks: "So how are you going to answer those attack ads?" And Talarico stalls for time: "Man, the music was real scary." Which isn't how you're going to answer successfully.
Talarico Clip 2: God is nonbinary. I find this to be a deeply offensive bill.

And then Talarico talks not about Christianity or love, but about local control of decisionmaking and "common sense."

The left drifted away from holding a coherent Christian worldview in the 1960s. The last generation were old school "progressives" who wanted to eat healthy, control pollution, label tobacco as harmful, ban second-hand smoke, ban drunk driving, and literally protect bio women (i.e., Title IX).
They sold out to gays (i.e., "Sodomites" and absolutely positively NOT Christian), sold out to the marijuana user crowd (i.e., the body is no longer the temple of God), and don't hold their belief system above those that would destroy Christians (i.e., Islam, Communism).

This is stupid. Christianity is not Left or Right. The culture insists that Christians are right wing nut jobs but my experience in churches across the land informs me that politics plays near zero part in the actual church activities.
Now other types of Churches are well invested in politics, the AME types, some Catholic churches, some synagogues and mosques, but not the evangelical Christian ones I know of.

(I have low tolerance for political alignment in any church, mainly because churches and pastors are extraordinarily naive on how actual politics works.) I would leave out the quotation marks on the "judge not, lest ye be judged" principle, having certainly tried hard to mold God in my own image at times - but this statement really does get to the heart of it, doesn't it? "God is nonbinary" is so limiting, so human-based, so much like holding that sneaking suspicion that we might get bored in heaven because, well, eternity is just so long. And there had better be sex and my continuing marriage there ("there" is another tell that we're dealing with human perceptions and conceptions), no matter what the gospels said about "no marrying or giving in marriage" (maybe that was just about new marriages!) - because I can't imagine anything better, deeper, more soul-satisfying that that.
God is ineffable. Any theology that doesn't, right off the bat, admit to itself that we cannot know the Mind of God is... how does it go? A whitened sepulcher? Or at minimum, hopelessly self-indulgent.

People are trying to graft today's thinking on to a book that is hundreds (thousands?) of years old, but then ... people have trying to do that for centuries. There is always a gap between the book and what people want to take from it, as there are gaps in the book itself.
He is God. Ergo beyond gender. That is well understood. But in the original language, the grammatical form is masculine. And Jesus took the form of a man in the incarnation, calling God “Abba”, which is a gendered term. Using non-gendered language specifically is a political statement. It’s unnecessary and implies a childish, limiting understanding of scripture and God. If I’m thinking of God in terms of human gender, then my understanding of God is too small.

But in Christian theology God is not merely human, and as such, the claim "God is non-binary, therefore so are humans" is, at best, proof that the person making the claim is a complete moron.

Comments from the reviewer: The proof needs refinement. Show that man includes both male and female. “Him” is created in the image of God. “They” were created male and female. This is necessary to prove the thesis that the image of God and thus God is both male and female.
