"You know we're building the ark," said Noah.

Is it an arc or an ark? Do we ding Trump for mispronouncing it?

bagoh20 said...

I assume there will be no furries, or LGBTQ+ invited on the arc. That wouldn't make sense.

bagoh20 said...

You know Trump is just going to change the official pronunciation of that word to match his royal preference.

“ Is it an arc or an ark? Do we ding Trump for mispronouncing it?”

The words are pronounced the same. I just thought it was funny to hear Trump say ‘we’re building the “ark”’ as if God‘s vengeance is coming and he’s the one in the know.

You should just bite the bullet and try sleeping with a trans woman. No straight man has the obsession you do. You turn everything back to your pet obsession here, every topic is about the trans. It's ok to be queer questioning. You could find a nice person online to experiment with and get over it, or get into it... Just a suggestion, dear.

OK, I saw the little smirk on his face, but I still don't get it.

Ann Althouse said...

I mean, if he was trying to say arch, then he was pronouncing it wrong but if you’re familiar with the Arc de Triomphe then that’s the relevant arc.

Ann Althouse said...

He said “building the ark” over and over, so I think he is deliberately making the pun and being humorous about the biblical dimension of his mission

john mosby said...

Maybe he means the ARC - the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship, associated with JBP and a lot of other righties. Maybe he can have the next ARC Conference in the ballroom:

“Arch de Trumpf”
It doesn’t take much for lefties to reveal their true nature:
“We love immigrants.” - then make fun of an immigrant’s name.
“We love Jews (in fact I have relatives in Israel)” - then say a Jew they disagree with looks like a Nazi officer.
“We love gays.” - then imply a Republican governor is effeminate.
“We love blacks.” - then suggest Clarance Thomas has low intelligence.
Repulsive.

Noah was mocked by some for building his Ark too, and those that mocked were wrong and wound up regretting it later. Maybe that is the comparison he is trying to draw.

The hysteria about the new ballroom is going to boomerang on the hysterics. It looks quite nice - windows on three sides - so when it's finished Trump can stand there and talk endlessly about how the hysterics wanted to stop it and how they thought America didn't deserve a nice ballroom.

Tilted Arc

Howard said...

Albert Speer designed a massive Triumphal Arch as a key feature of the planned Welthauptstadt Germania for Berlin. The arch, which was to be nearly 120 meters (400 ft) high, would have been large enough to fit the Arc de Triomphe inside its opening.

Trump's barrage of messages reminds me of the WW2 tactic in which Allied bombers dropped strips of metal foil ("chaff") to create false radar returns, overwhelming German radar and making it difficult to distinguish between real aircraft and decoys. I'm constantly having to distinguish between real announcements and announcements aimed at diversion and division of his enemies.

It’s surprising (sarc) none of the educated elite have thought to mention that an Arc de Triomphe is in keeping with Pierre l’enfant’s original design for Washington, which was inspired by Paris and other European cities. President Trump‘s Arc honors tradition.

That said, if DJT were 10 years younger, he, Elon, and others would’ve found a way to put an Arc in America’s moonbase and Martian settlement, next to the Stars and Stripes. That would have gotten the anti-colonialists in a tizzy.

Eva Marie said...

“My prediction - his ballroom will never be built.”
I love this prediction. Once again lefties are arguing over the least important thing. Trump has got you lefties arguing about something that is of zero importance. You folks were supposed to be arguing about the shutdown. Instead Trump has pointed the laser at something insignificant and there you go chasing the little red light.
But let’s say you’re right O mighty Carnac, and the ballroom doesn’t get built. I can just see the midterms. Democrat senators and reps going to the electorate: Ok, we didn’t stop any of the other Trump initiatives but that ballroom, we stopped it. Vote for us we stopped the ballroom (or fall back position, we limited it to 500 seats instead of 900 seats). Vote for us the No Ballroom Party - the No Balls Party. That’s a seller. Keep on, keeping on.

Aggie (it pains me as a Horn to say) nails it. The Arc of History bends slowly, as the Lightbringer says, but sometimes it gets sundered, and a new arc bends.... differently.

Quaestor said...

Howard writes, "Albert Speer designed a massive Triumphal Arch as a key feature of the planned Welthauptstadt Germania for Berlin."

There is but a single vestige of that vile project standing, the Schwerbelastungskörper (heavy load-exerting body), a gigantic engineering instrument designed to measure the load-bearing capacity of Berlin's sandy alluvial soil. Speer calculated that if the Schwerbelastungkörper, primarily a cylinder of steel and concrete weighing nearly 13,000 metric tons, settled less than 6 centimeters, then foundational considerations would pose no obstacle to the planned Nazi arch. By 1948, the mass had subsided to more than 3 times that depth, a sinking rivaled only by Inga's moral standards since 2016.

Jupiter said...

There is a rule of thumb when you're expanding your business. Especially manufacturing. If you're at 6500 square feet now. Don't expand to 8500. Double what you have now. IOWs 13000 square feet. You will always use it.
