"During the 51 days I was held in this family’s home, I got to know the captors who were guarding me...."

"These men told me about their families and their jobs. One was a police officer with eight kids. Another ran a falafel stand. I can speak Arabic and could understand perfectly well when the terrorists discussed their ideology. One man was adamant that all the land belonged to Palestinians and that the Jews should leave for Morocco or Yemen. Another was more political, repeating endless Hamas dogmas about how there is no such thing as the State of Israel. But it was obvious that for some of them, joining up with Hamas was about economics, not just ideology. Hamas had money, power and status, and some joined to try and get those things for themselves. However, it became clear to me that the willingness to torture and murder comes from a deeper place. The murderers who broke into my house and slaughtered my wife and daughters were driven by blind hatred, which seemed to take precedence over all other motivations, including life itself...."

Writes Eli Sharabi, in "What my captivity taught me about Hamas and its hateful ideology/My captors’ cruelty revealed an obsession with death. Lasting peace will demand more than diplomacy" (WaPo).

ADDED: Here's another column from Eli Sharabi, "I Was a Hostage in Gaza. This Is How I Survived" (Free Press):
Sometimes I feel like I am talking to people who are living 20 years in the past. One day, the Mask and the Cleaner tell me excitedly about a movie they just watched, gushing about how amazing and special it was. “What’s it called?” I ask. “Titanic!” “Titanic? With Leonardo DiCaprio?” I stare at them. What year are you living in?
The Mask tells me he likes to dance with his wife, but because of Hamas’s religious regime, they can’t. I ask him if he wants to live differently; whether he dreams of quiet, of a life where he could go to the beach with his kids and enjoy a normal day. He doesn’t answer, but I see his eyes glimmer....
The endless stretches of time give me room to think, to yearn. I keep thinking about Lianne and the girls. I imagine our sweet moments together: Shabbat and holiday meals, trips, family celebrations. I think a lot about coming home. I fantasize about it. I imagine telling Lianne, That’s it, let’s get out of here. Come on, Lianne, let’s take our girls to live somewhere different, somewhere quiet. But I refuse to let myself sink into longing. I refuse to let myself drown in pain. I am surviving. I am a hostage....

The financial incentives for Palestinian leaders are too great for them ever to agree to a true peace treaty with Israel. Their foot soldiers are brainwashed morons who do whatever their leaders tell them to do.

American Presidents have to try, but their efforts have been and will always be mostly useless. Ask Dennis Ross (Clinton Administration) about what it is like negotiating with the Palestinian leadership.

The Marx-Jihad Fusion: More Dangerous Together Than Either Parent

Author's summary:

"The fusion of Marxist analytics and Islamist eschatology is not merely “extremism with better branding.” It is a reactor that combines the ruthlessness of material revolution with the staying power of eternal reward. Marxism promised heaven on Earth and delivered breadlines; jihadism promised heaven in the afterlife but stumbled in state-building; their hybrid promises both—justice now, salvation later—and in that promise lies its perilous allure. Ignore it, and the West will replay the Cold War without the luxury of secular opponents who fear death as much as we do."

Long article. Left unsaid is what happens to Islamists if the Marxists get their way. "Religion is the opiate of the masses." If the objective is achieved, the religionists will no longer be useful idiots; they'll be expendable. And any other faith, other than worship of the State, will likewise be forbidden.

I was hearing an account of a released hostage this morning. When he was taken, he was put on the back of a motorcycle with his captor driving through the streets, announcing "I have a Jew ! I have a Jew !", whereupon he was beaten by the bystanders, all cheering.

It brings to a point the underlying fraud and flaws of Progressive thinking. This is a lynching in the classical sense, without the killing. Transpose the actors: A black victim with a Southern white captor.

Progressives decry and condemn the latter, all while the most radical Progressive leftists are endorsing the former. For the more moderate Progressives, they decry and condemn the latter, while avoiding at all costs, any debate on the former, instead steering the conversation with distractions - 'It's a genocide !' - which is also factually incorrect.

So it boils down to the principles of logic and fact-finding that underpin modern culture: Both of these cases can be worthy of condemnation, but there can never exist a condition where one is acceptable, and the other isn't - because they are examples of the same thing. Ergo, Progressives are wrong, and that is the most important reason to discard their thinking.

Confirmed by Israeli media. “Not Fake News”. Bibi has been giving money to Hamas

“Hamas was treated as a partner to the detriment of the Palestinian Authority to prevent Abbas from moving towards creating a Palestinian State. Hamas was promoted from a terrorist group to an organization with which Israel conducted negotiations through Egypt, and which was allowed to receive suitcases containing millions of dollars from Qatar through the Gaza crossings.” (Times of Israel October 8, 2023, emphasis added)

According to Netanyahu:

“Anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state has to support bolstering Hamas and transferring money to Hamas,” he [Netanyahu] told a meeting of his Likud party’s Knesset members in March 2019. “This is part of our strategy – to isolate the Palestinians in Gaza from the Palestinians in the West Bank.” (Haaretz, October 9, 2023, emphasis added)

Though it's true that elements within Islam are murderous death cults, the majority position is on a longer term strategy of demographic accretion, biding time until power is a fait accompli. In the meantime, nobody is allowed to publicly evaluate the Quran in a manner analogous to the scholarly dismantling of Biblical text. No critical commentary or scholarship is permitted.
It's like Christianity circa 1450 AD.
This strategy just might work.

I feel bad for the Palestinians. They were raised in houses and schools to hate. They are fanatics. And there is no cure for fanaticism. De-Nazification was a breeze. Tom Brady’s NFL career lasted longer than the Nazi Party. Not many were raised in the Nazi faith from the cradle. And most Nazi party members joined for the go along to get along reasons. Kill the leaders and a few enthusiastic wingmen. The rest fall in line.

That’s not possible in Gaza. Half the Palestinians the US foolishly allowed in are nuts.

At a certain point, if you can’t contain them then you have to eliminate them.

If you tell people for 2,000 years that Jews are ticks on the Earth, then those people won't have any problem murdering Jews.

And of course the Democrat plan is flawless in both its design and execution. Just like Hamas.'

Both are terrorist organizations that should be eliminated from the Earth.

Mr Sharabi was on Morning Joe today. Inter alia, he said he and his family were stuck in their bomb shelter for 3 hours by the missile alarms, until the terrorists showed up.

This triggered my 20/20 hindsight for some TTP adjustments:

1. Had the kibbutzniks just gotten on the road at the first missile alarm, they would have been moving targets at least. And maybe they might have gotten to more populated areas where police, military, and armed Jews could have put up a defense. Or maybe return to the days of self-defending kibbutzim, with obstacles to slow down the bad guys and bunkers you can actually shoot from instead of just waiting for the missiles to stop.

2. Had the Israeli government had an anti-missile TTP that depended a little less on Patriot and bunkers, and a little more on counterfire into launch sites, perhaps that would have disrupted the Hamas hold-em-down-with-missiles-while-we-saunter-over-there strategy. CC, JSM

Unocnditional surrender. Life imprisonment for all Hamas members, and execution after trial for all officers and leadership, including the terrorist bagmen/diplomats abroad. Forced re-education for all Gazans for the next generation, longer if they don't realize the error of their ways. Here's betting the current attempt to negotiate a peace will fail, as the Hamas leadership is a death cult and Iranian proxy, and deserves to be extinct.

In left-wing ideology there can be only one, thus the judicial kings and queens, the super delegates, etc who override democratic intent and votes.

As for Marxism, class-disordered ideologies fall under the Diversity umbrella, DEIsm in systemic, institutional modes.

Whether or not Netanyahu actually gave Israeli money to Hamas he has supported Hamas as an excuse not to negotiate and hasn't tried to stop funds coming to Hamas from other sources. The way that you get a "Death Cult" is to block constructive political action and remove rational political actors from the scene. Then you have a good excuse not to negotiate.

I read an interview with Sharabi where he said that the Gazan civilians were as involved with his captivity as the Hamas terrorists. He describes children throwing shoes at him, and states that it would take two generations for the Gazans to be willing to live in peace. It was a pretty damning statement, because all of the pro-Palestinian protestors have been crying about the plight of the poor "innocent civilians," but it seems that there were few, if any, Gazans who met that description; probably only the toddlers who had not yet learned to talk. The rest of them at least approved of the October 7 attacks, even if they didn't take part in them.
