"President Donald Trump has revoked the Secret Service detail for former vice president Kamala Harris.... The decision comes about a month before Harris... is scheduled to embark on a national book tour..."

"... her first extended public exposure since leaving office. Federal law gives vice presidents six months of Secret Service protection after they leave office, though Biden, before his presidency ended, had extended her detail for another year, according to a person familiar with the decision.... With the termination of the Harris detail, Trump has canceled security for every protected holdover from the Biden administration except Biden and former first lady Jill Biden, who by law are guaranteed lifetime Secret Service protection. High-ranking administration officials are not automatically guaranteed protection after leaving government, nor are children of former presidents over the age of 16...."

Kamala - pay for your own security.
Your dumb book tour DOES NOT concern the US tax payer.

Her advance on the book she "wrote" was $20 million. She can pay for her own protection.

In other words, Trump applies the existing law to Kamala Harris. The horror!

Unlike Republicans, Democrat Party members don't have to worry about psychotic supporters of the opposition party doxxing them and their families, hunting them down to harass and threaten them, attack them and shoot at them or set them on fire, and they don't have the leaders of the opposition party encouraging that violence and despicable behavior.

Yeah, can't WaPo count?
I doubt Harris is at risk.

I wonder if Biden actually extended her protection or if the Mighty Autopen did it?

@Michael Fitzgerald: "Democrat Party members don't have to worry about psychotic supporters..."

They just have to worry about being killed by the Party members next door in Detroit, Philadelphia, South Central Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Baltimore, the Bronx, downtown Memphis, etc. etc. etc.

They just have to worry about being taxed to death as the police are defunded and as they turn a blind eye to shoplifters, carjackings, and street junkies pooping on the sidewalk and then dying in their tents.

Democrats want to bring their internal hell to you too. Equity.

Kamala Harris is a worthless person. Nothing would really change for the people if she was killed. There is no reason another country or anyone in this country would put forth the effort.

Also Democrats don’t really have that need for protection personally because their political opponents are not insane like they are.

wendybar said...

Progressives say the country is safe, so they shouldn't be crying about this.

Dogma and Pony Show said...

I think she's at risk -- what public figure isn't? But it doesn't follow that taxpayers should have to foot the bill for 24/7 secret service protection for her. If she's paying for her own security, she can decide which situations call for having bodyguards with her and which ones don't.

I'm also reminded that Trump was denied all of the SS protection he clearly needed last summer partly because of the security being provided at that time to Dr. Jill. I gather from this that SS protection is a finite resource.

Aggie said...

If you think that's bad, I'm so old I remember when a Democrat Congress and President took a hard look at seeing if they could revoke Trump's SS detail, on the premise of cooked-up lawfare charges, and were disappointed to find that they couldn't.

As opposed to simply following the existing laws and regulations, they invested taxpayer resources into trying to come up with new ways to circumvent them, for political purposes, to hurt their political enemies.

JAORE said...

Compare, if you will the likelihood of violence against Harris versus, say, RFK Jr as he ran for President. Lots of loonies calling him a murderer. Lots of family history of assassination.
Yet Biden would NOT grant SS protection for RFK. Let Kamala pay her own way or stay huddled in safety at home. Either way a win-win for the rest of us.

Enigma said...

Kamala can get more money from those who donated $1.5B to her brief "pop star fun time" campaign last year. Maybe Oprah can return a few bucks, or Bloomberg, or Gates, or Soros.

Ice Nine said...

Trump's first VP, Mike Pence, had a book (you surely read it!) and did a book tour about a year after he left office. His Secret Service protection ended, as prescribed by law, 6 months after he left office. Just for the record.

Bushman of the Kohlrabi said...

Kamala who?

Original Mike said...

Speaking of who's a threat and who's at risk: "Another Democratic member has called for people to "rise up" against the federal government and analogized the conduct of ICE to "the SS and the Gestapo.” Connecticut Rep. John Larson's comments come at a time when there has been an 830% surge in assaults on federal agents."

Greg The Class Traitor said...

One of the excuses for the poor SS protection for Trump at Butler was because most of the SS in the area was "protecting" "Dr" Jill.

Good for Trump for saving valuable resources by not wasting any on the Biden Admin people who set him up to die

Vance said...

For some reason I have a copy of Mitt Romney and his lovely wife Ann Romney's cookbook. In there they casually mention how Ann loved cooking for their secret service detail while they were running for President. The day after the election, she made pancakes or something for them, and the secret service detail left for good.

So Kamala got far, far more secret service protection as a losing Presidential candidate than Romney.

Just thought I'd point that out....

Vance said...

I also think someone said that being on the Romney's SS detail was sought after, because just like GWB (for all his faults), the Romneys and GWB's family treated the secret service like humans.

Unlike the Clintons and Obamas. I bet the Bidens treated theirs like garbage too. And isn't there a viral video of Trump running over and picking up a hat for one of his protective detail when it got blown off by the wind?

A substantial number of former Administration people were given protective details as it was winding down, including some for the same WH staff that likely authorized and Autosigned the orders. Harris is apparently the last one. Good.

1st the dems put 3th string (no, 4th string) SS agents on Trump
then the dems ordered an assassination of Trump, which still failed
THEN the dems ordered At LEAST one more assassination attempt on Trump (which STILL failed)..

*THEN* because of some number counting fluke (more people voted for Trump than was expected (or allowed))
*NOW!* Trump is not only ALIVE, but acting as if HE were President of the USA!!

and *NOW* he is using some loophole
(EXPLICIT LEGAL WORDING OF LAW)
to ENDANGER the RIGHTFUL President!

this is an OUTRAGE!

Just another MSM story to be filed under "Orange man always bad".

3) I wonder if any of those buying her book will actually read it, or simply display it prominently behind them on a bookshelf when they are on a podcast or in a zoom meeting or appearing as an expert on MSNBC?
4) I wonder how many copies the publisher will get stuck with, then sold at half price to be given away as registration gifts at some DNC convention?
5) I wonder what she's getting paid for her name on the thing.

The Bobby Kennedy campaign had to hire its own security at great expense. I saw it.

Joe Biden - knowing full well that his dad and uncle were murdered - refused to extend government protect for Bobby.

What a petty and terrible person Joe Biden (or maybe Jill Biden) is. The Biden campaign wanted to bleed money from the Kennedy campaign.

Leland said...

To give a negative news story to Trump somewhere down the road, which was today. And you can bet later, if anything happens to Kamala; this news story will come up and Democrats will howl that Trump put her in danger. In fact, Trump is following the statutory law, because as Trump was made to understand, "no one is above the law".

As BM notes, Trump didn't revoke, he just declined Biden's autopen extension. Wouldn't want Biden being all authoritarian and dictatorial, would we?

not really;
Kammy got 6 months free, as part of the legal law..
Biden's Autopen gave her Another year, free (at Tax Payer Expense)
Trump revoked the remainder of her extra year..
If he'd done "no action" it would have been in effect for another 11 months or so.

Maybe you should stop cracking wise and pull your head out of your ass long enough to see what your people are doing.

On the evening of Independence Day, a group of Antifa terrorists carried out an ambush attack on [an] Immigration [and] Customs Enforcement facility in Alvarado, Texas. They drew immigration agents outside by shooting fireworks at the building and vandalizing cars in [the] parking lot.

And then here are your friends in Portland.
