I'd never heard this before, but I was making exactly the same point to my husband the other day (minus the funny metaphor, which I sure wish I'd thought of). My husband can somehow stomach that blowhard Cenk Uyghur and listens to Young Turks so I don't have to. Those two are trying to carve out some space for Euro-style socialism without too much woke flavor - and my husband thinks it'll work because young Democrats are (first, urbanized, but also) hopeless and depressed and think they can do nothing to change their lot.
