I laughed at this line "At 60, she is still young enough to have another run at high office...." Another? Like there's only one more chance for her to threaten us with a presidential candidacy — in 2028? She's only 60. She can go at least 4 more times. She can be there in 2028, 2032, 2036, and 2040! Imagine the 80-year-old Kamala Harris, well-seasoned, sharp as a tack.
Perhaps the Democratic Party must show her if it's going to use any individual person on this kind of fundraising email. Not to show her — when she's the party's most recent nominee — could be read as disrespectful. Ironically, that's the same motivation that got her the nomination last time and that led to dismal defeat. But there's no choice. They're boxed in. This is the corner into which they have painted themselves.

Harris as the current front-runner? Is that a reflection of who they are polling, or the weakness of the alternatives?
If Harris is the best they can do, then they may as well skip 2028 and focus their resources and energies on 2032.
Former VP as the front runner for the Democrats is politics as usual for rank and file campaign workers and grassroots activists. However, the money guys probably want Newsom, more telegenic, less word salad, and above all, more pliable.
I can think of no better tactic than to register and vote in the primary. The candidate that blew through a 1,000,000,000 billion, maybe 2, with little to show, except stars with fatter wallets making cameo appearances and no singing.

Harris lost in 2024. In 2020 she sucked so badly that she dropped out before a single vote happened (and her total incompetence was WHY the Biden camp picked her: they wanted a VP who would suck so badly no one would be willing to dump Biden for her)
She is "front runner"" based on name recognition, and that doesn't even get her to 30% in any of the polls I've seen. In 2 years, when the Dem 2028 primary has started, she will quickly move to a place of "oh Hell no!"
As for the GOP, there's no way in hell that the GOP will not make the interested VP of an ineligible GOP President the candidate. It simply will not happen

Post Watergate, the Dems moved sharply Left, and have spent the 50 years since then STAYING sharply to the Left of the American people. Furthermore, their policies are insane crap that makes life worse for normal Americans, so it's not actually possible for them to provide a candidate with "accomplishments", because anyone who's made the Left happy has screwed over the voters.
I figure that after JD wins re-election in 2032, the Dems MIGHT start a DLC 2.0 and at least some of them pretend to be sane and move back towards making voters lives better.

I’m old enough to remember Adlai Stevenson being the only Democrat dumb enough to run against Eisenhower in 1956. Harris will probably be the same, the only Democrat in 2028 dumb enough to let Vance use her to mop the floor.
Keep in mind there are a bunch of people who think that if she had just had more time she could have won. Rather than seeing that she peaked on the day she was nominated by the convention.

I was just pondering whose visage the Democrats could have put on this email. You put anyone current on there and you're tipping the scales in favor of that person.

IMHO -- He is by far the most dangerous candidate for Vance to face, and will grab the opportunity to be the first serious DEM candidate to fully repudiate the toxic Woke/Trans/Borderless policies that Trump has been winning 80/20.
He is building momentum and the extreme sense of emergency in Blue donor circles will force the progressives to fall in line or get left behind. They will not allow another idiotic Harris-style candidate to carry the flag in 2028 -- not on their dime anyway...
Harris has strong name recognition in California, where she was DA, AG, Senator, before being VP. Is this perhaps the California Pelosi mafia, doing their push-polling, and showing CA results as if they're representative? They could have much better fundraising with Rahm, talking the way he used to talk in the House steam bath - using profanity as punctuation, like Peter Capaldi in The Thick of It (who may have been partially based on Rahm).

Vance should be able to handle Rahm quite easily. The main danger is not deciding early on which way to attack him: by associating him with Obama's policies and the crash/burn of Chicago, or by praising him for being the guy who kept Obama from going even farther left and slowed Chicago's plunge for a few years.
Either tactic would chip away at the edges of the Dem vote.

The Dems are running low on candidates because they're running low on ideas. Spend more? Tax more? New subsidies for favored niche constituencies? Hire more federal employees? Turn the military into the peace corps? Fuel racial and economic grievances? These have all been tried. Maybe they'll work again. They should change the name of the party to the Destruction Party. A less dishonest moniker.
I hope they run her again in 2028 but, at age 58 going on 59, I have learned to be disappointed.

Rahm Emmanuel strikes me as a guy who wants the power but not the exposure. To be the power behind the scenes. He could be mayor of Chicago bec no one is going to dig too deep into his history. But prob for the same reason neither Michelle Obama or Oprah wanted to run - everything they ever said is going to come out. I don't see Rahm as running but who knows.
I don't know why no one brought up Newsome. He seems the obvious choice. He is a good looking guy, well-spoken, although a complete failure at everything he's touched. I think the left thinks he'll be a great candidate and HE thinks he'll be a great candidate but you already see all the ads...

Kamala being the "front-runner" at this point is meaningless. Less than a year after the election, she's the only Democrat most voters have heard of. Anyone else seriously considering a run in 2028 is doing all the background work now - meeting big donors, doing favors, etc. (Except Gavin) If she still the front-runner two years from now, that will mean something.
We're entitled to ask who the White House aides will be for any Dem who runs because according to the reporting on Biden we are really voting for the White House aides when we vote for a Dem. Of course, Kamala can't keep aides but I suspect that these "White House aides we are really voting for" are really just Obama's White House staff. So, you'd have a picture of Kamala with a picture of Anita Dunn, and Donilon and whoever. Maybe one could be holding the autopen; another, the teleprompter; another, the door. These would be symbolizing respectively: policy decisions, spin and access. Kamala could talk about whether she intended to interfer if she disagreed with a policy. And whether she would need to be drugged like Biden or whether she'd just surrender power. Any Dem could be asked those questions.
It often is a question of "whose turn is it". (Why I don't know but historically has happened). The quality of the candidate does seem to be different from one party to the other. Reagan's VP was senior George Bush so it was his "turn" after Reagan's second term. People made fun of his patrician vibe but he was a fighter pilot and had served in a number of departments of the federal government prior to becoming VP.
AOC went from bartender to Congress in a relatively small district and is now being promoted as a presidential candidate. Even George Bush jr. Had been governor of one of the largest states in the union prior to becoming a candidate. Even their losers Bob Dole and John McCain had storied military careers and each spent decades in the Senate with great influence. The Republican bench right now is Vance, Desantis and now Rubio. Democrats are looking at Newsome whose greatest claim to fame may be he is related to Nancy Pelosi. Otherwise he has been failing up wherever he lands.
The Democrat Party rehabilitated the Clintons after they served, enough to run that horrible female member of the pair for president. If they can do that in their heads, without cerebral explosions, and they did, they can rehab Harris without any trouble. Run, Kamala, run! I want another Republican president in 2028.
