PAGE: Some of your supporters have encouraged you to issue preemptive pardons to people like Liz Cheney and Anthony Fauci, who Trump has threatened to target. Will you do that?
BIDEN: ... I was very straightforward with Trump when he got elected.... I tried to make it clear that there was no need, and it was counterintuitive for his interest to go back and try to settle scores.
PAGE: And did he give you an answer on what he was going to do?
BIDEN: Well, he didn't. But he didn't say, "No, I'm going to..." You know. He didn't reinforce it. He just basically listened....
So Biden failed to extract anything from Trump, and Trump was poker faced.

Sometimes I think Biden's brain must be seriously fried, but then I realize he's always been extremely stupid. Which is why he needed to plagiarize from Labour.
Anyways, he must realize that he's incredibly doomed. I wouldn't be surprised to see President Trump use Biden's dementia as an excuse to strike down any awards, pardons, and laws signed in the last year.
There is an American tradition of out-going Presidents offering advice to their successors, even if they are political opponents. Kennedy, for example, frequently consulted Eisenhower. Of course, FJB is no DDE.
Said it before, and I'll say it again, I hope grandpa felonyfingers makes pre-emptive pardons. Go ahead dems...skin that smoke-wagon and see what happens.
There's lots of hubbub about what Biden EOs and actions Trump can and can't rescind. Trump doesn't need to rescind shit. All he needs to do is issue a new EO or action that's the opposite of the previous one. This shouldn't be necessary, but if they want to be this vindictive they're delusional to think only they can play that game.
If Biden doesn't issue a lot of preemptive pardons, a number of miscreants in particular and woke lefties in general will be very unhappy. If he does issue a lot of preemptive pardons, he will outrage much of the electorate and tarnish the reputations of at least some of the pardoned who didn't need one. I wouldn't be surprised if some of those pardoned will decline to accept a pardon because they realize that it will tarnish their reputations and follow them to their obits. Witness the obits of Peter Yarrow, some of which wallow in the details of his conviction and pardon by Jimmy Carter.
Democrats when on the outs,
--- time to turn the page
--- mistakes were made
--- no sense in rehashing history
--- lets be magnanimous, like Scarlett O'Hara, "Tomorrow is another day"
This is a different situation since Trump is not new to the Presidency.
True. Eisenhower never went mano-a-mano against Corn Pop.
Trump doesn't need to rescind shit. All he needs to do is issue a new EO or action that's the opposite of the previous one. You forgot about the Trump exception for EO's. Alone, among all POTUS's, past or future, he must follow the administrative procedures act to change anything. So ruled by the COURTS!
Fauci is NOT "settling scores". Fauci has committed serious crimes and millions of people are dead.
gspencer, remember this?
Pandora's box has been opened. Forgiveness, like the past alluded to by Shakespeare, is a foreign country where things were done differently.
Those. Days. Are. Gone.
at least some of the pardoned who didn't need one
==============
they can refuse to accept like some on the death row
Back in 2016 Trump talked a lot about throwing Hillary in jail but in the end he just let it slide. I think he's doing the same thing now.
Fauci, Liz Cheney and Chris Wray need to pay a price for all their lying. If there is no penalty, they'll just keep on doing it. Fauci and Wray lied under oath. Cheney may have suborned perjury.
Shorter Biden:
Everyone knows me and my family are crooks - please spare us!
why?
Do not spare the Bidens.
It was a big mistake. Hillary paid for that fake dossier.
Also Biden: "President Joe Biden is quietly expressing regret about appointing Merrick Garland as attorney general. According to a report in The Washington Post, Biden believes Garland was slow to prosecute Donald Trump for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot..."
Can you imagine the pudding-brain in chief negotiating with Putin and Hamas these past four years?
James Buchanan is relieved to no longer be the worst President of all time. Let's go Brandon.
So, Biden is angry that Garland didn't move fast enough against Trump, but he's telling Trump to let bygones be bygones, water under the bridge. That's what one would have expected from Biden, but how he ever got elected is a mystery.
His reputation for vicious score settling is how Biden rose to President. Look at Rudy Giuliani and what has been done to him, for what, exactly? Look at the guy in Ukraine who talked to Rudy about Biden's corruption. He's been arrested for treason, for harming Joe Biden's interests, and who knows whether he has been executed or not.
Game theory says that Trump should settle a score or two, by the same token, game theory also says that Biden should try to talk him out of it.
My, Susan Page really "teed it up" for Biden didn't she? No interruptions. Just nice softball questions and some leading attack questions on Trump.
Like: "Gosh, what great achievement was overlooked"? Oh, and here's a tough one from Susan: "There's many things of your legacy been such big successes, but part of the economy that has proved I think to be more troublesome is inflation." And "Hunter's been open about his struggles. How is he doing now?"
Not a word about trying to put Trump in Jail. Or rewarding Lt Byrd for murdering Ashli Babbitt. OR pardons for J6ers. Or cutting back on SS protection for Trump and denying it to RFK. Or having open borders letting millions of illegals pour in. Or the breaking the RR strike. Or calling Trump and his suppoters "neo-nazis". Or supporting Genocide in gaza and endless war in Ukraine.
Does anyone believe Trump would take advice from Biden on anything?
I'm fairly certain Trump didn't listen a word Biden said. You know how your mind wonders when somebody is babbling on, and you start thinking about something else like, "did I leave the iron on" or "I think I need to have my brakes checked". That was Trump in his meeting with Biden.
Biden: Now that I've punched you in the face, it's time for non-violence.
Let's not quibble about "who killed who!" Let's move on.dot.org! Let's let bygones be bygones.
Please, please, please, do not make us play by the same rules we abused to attack you and all your supporters. And don't go nosing around in all the dark corners of the deep state operations which shows how corrupt we were in doing what 3rd world nations do. I mean, that wouldn't be "fair", now would it?
Shorter Biden: "Hey Trump, please don't treat me and my friends, the way we treated you. I mean, C'mon man".
I loved how Susan Page wanted Biden to issue a preemptive pardon for Liz Cheney. I mean, she just got a medal from Biden for putting "Country above Party". Why should she need a pardon?
"When The Man Comes Around."
In other news Schumer told McConnell that how is the time for bipartisanship.
"I tried to make it clear that there was no need, and it was counterintuitive for his interest to go back and try to settle scores."
Brandon is just trying to save his sorry ass and the asses of the rest of the DC Uniparty who have been busying themselves looting the country for their benefit. Is settling scores necessary? Maybe not for Trump's interest personally, but how about the country in general?
*Something* needs to happen to a significant number of those who've dragged the country through the sewer in recent years that's serious enough that people five hundred years in the future will still shudder in fear if they even have thoughts about ever doing such things again.
Although there are many who don't deserve it, this is one of the greatest gifts Trump could give the USA.
Yep, he's heading back to his 12 year old school bully self and treating everyone the same way he did his Fourth Grade classmates.
I especially like the idea that there "is no need" to chain millstones around the necks of Biden's henchmen and toss them into the Potomac. Technically true, I suppose. But sometimes you just "want" to do something, even if you don't need to. Why mess up all those lovely lampposts when the river is right there handy?
And he learned that "Politics ain't beanbag" when he let it slide. As they say before every UCF fidght...."Iiiiiiiiiitttt's Tiiiiimmmee"
Beidens preemptive pardons are the mother of all moral hazards. So in the future a presidential admin can break every law on the books, and violate everyone’s civil rights, and the doj will exercise discretion. Then on the final jan 20 the entire administration gets a blanket pardon.
Perhaps a civil suit would work, but in DC that would only work for one party.
Beiden says, F the country, what about MY needs, huhh?
Scorched earth, baby.
The 25th Amendment presents a problem here—since the constitution contains a mechanism for removing an incompetent president, the fact that it wasn’t used amounts to an affirmation by those charged with the task that Biden was competent.
Beiden says, it is merely a sign of good parenting to use your sacred constitutional powers to keep your children from facing justice for their crimes. That’s just equal justice for all!
I don't buy Biden's argument. Why would it be against Trump's interests to screw over the people who screwed him over? The usual argument for "let by-gones be by-gones" is that you're better off making peace with former enemies than continuing the war.
But that assumes that peace is possible.
Is it?
Perhaps with some former Trump adversaries in (e.g.) high-tech who thought that by supporting the anti-Trump team in 2020 until late 2024 they were backing the "strong horse", yes. At least some of them seem anxious to kiss the new King's Ring. Welcome them. And others like them.
But Biden et al. attacked Trump and his supporters in an unprecedented way for 4 years. Not only was Trump subjected to politically-motivated criminal prosecutions, so were his supporters.
How about this for a START on reconciliation?
Biden directs that ALL federal charges against Trump be dismissed with prejudice immediately .
Biden publicly urges State authorities to dismiss with prejudice ALL State charges against Trump.
Biden pardons ALL J6 defendants and orders that they ALL be immediately released. NO EXCEPTIONS! Don't trust Biden (or whoever is puling his strings now) -- This all must be completed before Biden leaves office.
Biden does NOT issue pardons for anyone involved in the prosecution or persecution of J6 persons.
Hopefully Trump's mind wandered back to the Dark Brandon speech and the bullet that nicked his ear.
Biden said he meant it when he said he would not pardon Hunter, then said he is still considering pardoning Liz Cheney, Fauci, etc. but that he hopes all of that does not set a "bad precedent" whereby Trump might think he can grant anyone a pardon.
That is Dem philosophy in a nutshell - I will do it but you better not take that to mean I will let you do it.
"Hey, remember that time I repeatedly called you a Nazi and tried to put you in jail and bankrupt you for a bunch of bullshit? I'm not sorry for anything I did, but why don't we just forget the whole thing and move on anyway."
So Biden failed to extract anything from Trump, and Trump was poker faced.
Trump did write the first good book on negotiating.
If someone wants to have a go at explaining the me how you stop bad behavior without punishing it, I'll be glad to listen. Skeptically listen, of course.
Not to criticize, but I always thought that was one of the dumbest movie lines ever. Wyatt Earp would never have said that - he would have just led with the slap and gone directly to the ear.
Oh, I bet that would work fine for Dementia Joe.
Dementia Joe, his pathetic staff and the rest of these inbred Democrats desperately need several good and deep tastes of their own medicine.
Biden will be declared mentally unfit via senile and all things he has signed for the last year NULL AND VOID. Trump, or someone else, just has to sue.
Notice how Biden conflates "settling scores" with the administration of justice.
Trump does need to get the people who abused their power out of power under his administration.
But Trump doesn't need to target anyone criminally. The crimes of the Biden regime are manifestly obvious. Trump just needs to shrug and let the new DOJ do its work. And that's exactly what he's doing.
You professional victims are more interested in revenge than accomplishment. These comments threads are overflowing with the hellfire of scorned women. Deep down inside your misfiring lizard brains, you want Trump to fail so you can hold onto your hatred and indignation.
If you don’t play tit for tat, you become the door mat. There is no third option.
Fed courts CAN (and do) eff up EO decisions. Remember the DREAM Act? So there's that. Secondly, dragging the Left side of the UniParty through the mud and through the "process" (and which IS the punishment btw) costs them money, time, and grief whether they're convicted of anything or not. It's well worth it to have the Biden, Clinton, et al. crime families burn through some of their fortunes and have a few years of sleepless nights instead of days on the beach with cool drinks. Those of them that actually end up disbarred, bankrupted, cop to felonies, or even doing time (to encourage others) will get the message out to play nice in the future because WGACA.
I would wager that many of us have known somebody like Joe Biden in our professional lives: A man not very smart, but with a strong ego, able to be laser focused on his own cynical goals, and willing to do almost anything to achieve them.
You'll hear the gossip, hear people comment on the subject's apparent dimwittedness, hear the accounts of outrageous, sometimes absurd actions, and shake your head. You'll see them get found out, and get into trouble - and then see them promoted, or in a setting of elevated status that you didn't expect. You'll have conversations with them and come away convinced that they're stupid.
And yet their ability to stay focused on those simple sort-listed things, gets them a lot farther than you would have imagined, without all that baggage of integrity or principles to hold them back.
I've known maybe 2 or 3 in my life, had them pegged as sneaky and untrustworthy early on, saw a couple fail in disgrace but then their egos would push them to re-start and succeed at their flawed, self-interested goals. There's nothing special about Joe, but his career has been remarkable when you look at all of the things he's done, and that's not a compliment.
Not really an mystery, if you're the one counting the votes.
You're confused- it's Democrats who are the professional victims. And when it comes to revenge vs. accomplishment, I'm in favor of both.
Good Lord, Howard! Do you get some perverse pleasure in being an insufferable twit? I guess you think you are clever. Sad.
You're right he never would've said that, but A) that movie takes so many liberties with the historicity of those events as to be mostly fictitious and B) the verb "skin" was used historically - though rarely - in the 19th century West within the context of 'putting one's skin (hands, touch)' on a weapon as a perfectly legal justification for self-defense by the courts at that time. Unlike then, the standard is higher now, but not by much. Bat Masterson used it later in life when he was a newsman and sportswriter , which is probably where the screenwriters got it from.
...So go ahead and "skin" it Joe. Make our day, punk.
The only option in the Prisoner's Dilemma where the counterparty "defects" instead of "cooperates" is to defect. I strongly doubt America will ever "cooperate" again.
There are fewer good days ahead than there are behind and the country's structural problems are so deep now as to be unsolvable, IMO.
"more interested in revenge than accomplishment."
Howard's lizard brain is "either/or". He hasn't evolved "both/and" yet.
"Tomorrow is another day." La Ti Da....
Executive Orders need to be roped in, corralled, and neutered. All these EOs are like having a king or queen shouting, "Off with their heads!"
1987, went to Bahamas, played Blackjack, won $1500, thought I had a new career. Took one of those "free" junkets to Trumps Casino in Atl City.
Couldnt believe how quickly I lost my money. Everyone recieved a "free" copy of "Art of the Deal", and a "free" food voucher.
All that free stuff only cost $300 and 18 hours of my time.
I read a lot that day.
"Deep down inside your misfiring lizard brains, you want Trump to fail so you can hold onto your hatred and indignation."
An interesting comment. Before the election it occurred to me that there must be a significant number of Democrats who secretly wanted, indeed needed, Trump to win. Eight years of wholeheartedly buying into the manufactured hysteria, the Orwellian gaslighting, the extraordinary cognitive dissonance, must be a huge emotional commitment. If Trump suddenly went away these people would be bereft and purposeless. Imagine being Inga or Freder in a Trumpless world.
oh how Howitzer Howard spent years laughing and laughing about the weaponization of government against domestic political opponents and now Howie wants to retreat behind the "you guys are behaving like victims" nonsense.
LOL
This is the very same Howard that lauded BLM, claimed there wasn't a rush at the Southern Border with thousands of illegals hunkering under underpasses, and even asserted that "antifa" (because they are "anti-fascist"...cuz its in their name, right?!) deserved military retirement pay like our lads that landed at Normandy.
And there is no one more "needy" in terms of daily affirmations than our very own Howitzer Howard.
I always get confused between "score-settling" and "holding accountable"
any difference in brain fry between FJB and subway arsonist?
illegal occupant / illegal migrant
Biden was 12 years old in the 4th grade? That explains a lot.
On the order of the Nuremberg Trials.
How often did Biden consult his predecessor?
As does Howie Wowie.
"Score-settling" is what Republicans do, "holding accountable" is the Democrats.
Shorter Biden:
"Just because my DoJ rat-fucked you, your staff, and your supporters is no reason for revenge."
"How often did Biden consult his predecessor?"
If you mean Obama they had a regularly scheduled call twice daily, one pre-lid and another after nappy time.
Just to mess with people, Trump should schedule the baptism of his latest grand baby at Old St Patrick’s cathedral in NYC the day after he is inaugurated.

1What Biden said actually doesn't make sense--Surprise! Surprise! He meant "counter-productive" (even though that's wrong) but he said "counter-intuitive" because he's stupid, has senile dementia, and also possibly because he's surrounded by midwits for whom "counterintuitive" is a favorite word.
9 times out of 10, "counterintuitive" conclusions, particularly in social sciences, upon further study turn out to be just plain wrong.
Biden admits that Trump has scores that could be settled.
Trump needs to understand that he has finite resources and finite time. Make every moment count. Minimize distractions.
I unleashed the DemocRats, the RepubliCons, the bureaucRats, and even the haters. Will no one abort this meddlesome orange "burden"? No? Perhaps Plan B. He's still viable. Damnit. Can't we all just get along? #NoJudgment #NoLabels #NotMeToo
...to encourage the others...
