In late November, the moss effulges.

Speaking of shining...

Former President Donald Trump trounced Vice President Kamala Harris in Arizona by more than 187,000 votes — a margin 18 times bigger than four years ago, when the election was called for President Joe Biden by a meager 10,000 votes.

That log looks like an old timer like me.

I ❤️ old timers. The older the better.

Emphatically epiphytic effulgences.

Good eye for something seen out on a forest ramble.

"'Will the failing New York Times apologize to its readers for getting years of 'Trump' coverage so wrong,' the president-elect wrote on Truth Social in response to the report. 'They write such phony 'junk,' knowing full well how incorrect it is, only meaning to demean.'"

And he goes on to tell the truth about the liar at the NYT's whom always spreads propaganda...😁

"'Magot (sic) Hagerman, a third rate writer and fourth rate intellect, writes story after story, always terrible, and yet I almost never speak to her,' he added.

'They do no fact checking, because facts don't matter to them. I don't believe I've had a legitimately good story in the NYT for years.'"

I always thought it was “efuges”. Must be my public school education.

I thought the mossy side was the one with Southern exposure.

When the moss stops its effulgence , and starts coruscating, be sure to get some video.

Well, the Russians are leafleting Kiev and have shut down airspace over the launch site of the last "Hazelnut." Putin said he would give a warning, and this time the warheads would not be inert, but armed with conventional explosives, so look for the equivalent of a tactical nuke hitting some part of Kiev. The US attacked Russia three times since the last one. And before we say that we didn't, they managed to hit an S-400 that they happened to know was in maintenance, and its precise location, who has this kind off surveillance of Russia? Not Kiev.

Or, maybe it will crash. It is a new missile type. We will see.

There is a moss that effulges in a non-metaphoric sense. It's called dragon gold (sometimes goblin gold), however, it rarely grows in sunlit areas, preferring cave mouths and rock ledges. Schistostega does not in fact possess bioluminescent properties. Instead it plays a trick with light similar to the mechanism that makes cat's eye seem to glow with internal light. A cat has a layer of reflective cells behind its retinas that gives its rod and cone cells a second chance at stimulation by incoming photons. Dragon gold has similar reflective cells that serve its chloroplasts in a same manner.

So you're saying there's a chance it will coruscate?

The old Boy Scout maxim claims the moss grows on the north side, at least in the Northern Hemisphere. It's not true, but like many other non-vascular plants, mosses are prone to dehydration, thus they proliferate in cool, humid microclimates. To the extent that the north side of a given tree is cooler and moister than the south side, that's where the moss will be more proflictic.

I suppose a lost Scout could establish a rough bearing by surveying all the trees in his immediate location for moss growth, but would that be enough to navigate?

I was going to cite my year of BSA experience, but apparently the little I recall is wrong.
