"Harris’s closing argument is dishonest, desperate and hypocritical/Trump isn’t a fascist, and he didn’t say he would use the military against his political opponents."

Writes Marc A. Thiessen, in The Washington Post. That's a gift link, so you can read the whole thing. Excerpt:
In their miasma of outrage, Democrats seem to have forgotten that they have been demonizing Republicans as “enemies” for years. During his noxious 2022 speech in Atlanta, President Joe Biden accused Republicans who opposed his proposed federal takeover of our elections of standing with traitors such as Confederate president Jefferson Davis and explicitly called them “enemies” of America, thundering: “I will defend the right to vote, our democracy against all enemies — foreign and, yes, domestic.” Barack Obama famously declared “We’re gonna punish our enemies, and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us” (He later conceded that he should have used the word “opponents” instead.)

Ah the cleansing effect of Truth, expressed eloquently. Thiessen used to be a Trump-skeptic when I'd see clips of him. This however is a well reasoned defense of Trump's absolutely mainstream messaging.

People say that Joe Biden was a kind of a nebbish, intellectually vacuous and overly prone to gaffes, but when you look at his career, his ability to say almost the precise opposite of what he is actually thinking, of always accusing his enemies of the very thing that he knows very well that he is doing himself, well, there is a reason that he rose so far.

The Democrats are in the process of absorbing the GOPe traitors we have kicked out of the party.

All of the people they called Hitler in the past 60 years are endorsing Kamala now. Cheneys and Bushes and Romneys and Kitzingers etc.

The democrats have participated in censorship, persecution and jailing of political opponents, widespread "mostly peaceful" political violence, and the attempted assassination of their main political opponent.

Harris supporters would make the average Nazi party member in Germany 1938 blush.

Don't forget the "From the River to the Sea" wing of the Democrat Party. NAZIs weren't going for all out extermination of Jews until the 40's.

It must also be pointed out that NAZI party members were still trying to help other Germans(except the communists) and were explicitly trying to build their national economy.

Contrast that with modern day Harris supporters that are openly calling for their political opponents to be replaced with foreign invaders.

Less than a month ago, the Biden administration granted the military the power to use lethal force against American citizens on American soil in order to suppress "civil disturbances."

For the first time since the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 this power was given to the regular military commanded by the inside-the-Beltway Deep State, rather than the National Guard that operates under the command of a state's elected governor.

Every accusation by a Democrat is actually a confession.

I'm so tired of Trump/Nazi analogies, let's put some things into perspective.

In Germany between 1929 and the first half of 1931 public political murders, mostly committed by Nazis, were estimated to be greater than 500. How many public political murders have MAGA supporters committed?

Hitler was appointed Chancellor by Hindenburg, not elected, in January of 1933. In March of 1933 Hindenburg signed the Reichstag Fire Decree which paved the way for Hitler's Enabling Act. The Enabling Act allowed Hitler to outlaw all political parties except the Nazi party and thus in a snap November election the Nazi Party won 92% of the vote. They had never previously won more than 43% of the vote. Doesn't sound much like Trump.

The Nazi Party was a party of murder and terror. Show me where the party of Trump has committed any political murder of Americans. J6 doesn't count, the only person murdered that day was Ashli Babbit.

Another thing about narcissistic sociopaths. First, let me say that the coverage of the campaign the last few months from most mainstream sources has been unconscionably bad. The general tone and focus of it suggests this is a regular election.

Between two regular candidates offering different but acceptable visions for the country. The reality is one of the candidates is likely to undo democracy in ways that will take a generation to fix. And he's quite upfront about it.

Eight years into Trump, this is completely unacceptable. I understand that people are typically shocked and paralyzed psychologically when they first encounter a malignant narcissist. Their way of looking at the world is totally alien to most of us.

How hard would it be, after January 6 in particular for editors and journalists at places like the NYT to say "This is something our current system can't handle. We're going to have to change how we do things"?

If the whole media climate was "Trump is a toxic narcissist in steep cognitive decline" rather than "he's a lovable scamp with a penchant for PR stunts", the election might be very different right now.

Real American said...

Leftists as a group begin with the premise that they are correct about everything and thus the only potential reason to disagree is evil and bigotry - racism, sexism, homophobia, religious fanaticism, fascism, Nazism, etc. Elected Democrats use this name-calling as a fear tactic to keep the rank and file in line, even though they know it's BS propaganda.

See, it never occurs to them that they may be incorrect about something or that there are legitimate alternative viewpoints or that the weight of evidence might cut against them.

The media keeps them in their little bubble by parroting their talking points, framing every mistake by the Right's reaction to it (pounce, seize, etc.), and otherwise covering up or minimizing their flaws.

The Kamala closing argument is about setting up the civil unrest that will be unleased if Trump wins. They're trying to trap him with the "hell use the military against citizens."

It's just a repeat of the 2020 BLM summer. Tony Evers purposefully let Kenosha burn by slow rolling the Wisconsin State response. He held back the feds. I live in an area where it would be logistically hard to riot. But people in cities (Madison and Milwaukee) are going to see the worst of it again.
