"The Harris campaign has been editing news headlines and descriptions within Google search ads that make it appear as if the Guardian, Reuters, CBS News and other major publishers are on her side..."

"... Axios has found."
It's a common practice in the commercial advertising world that doesn't violate Google's policies, but the ads mimic real news results from Search closely enough that they have news outlets caught off guard. According to Google's ad transparency center, the Trump campaign isn't running these types of ads.... The ads say that they are sponsored, but it's not immediately clear that the text that accompanies real news links is written by the campaigns and not by the media publication itself.

It's confusing to readers, who get the impression they're looking at the news outlet's headline, and it's damaging to the news outlet, because it makes it look more obviously biased than it actually is.

Then we’ll expect outrage, negative coverage, cease and desist letters, and lawsuits.

But that’s not going to happen because these organizations now exist to be damaged for the Progressive cause. It’s through damaging their organization, that their members earn valuable social capital.

There are plenty of Stephanie Delmonicos out there... and that is what the dems are counting on... people who are so dumb as to believe the lies and those who don't care that they are being lied to.
I mean, Kamala and Fauxcahontas repeating the 'good people on both sides' lie that has been debunked by Snopes and CNN as well as many others. They know it is a lie, but they'll feed any shit to their shit-hungry constituency, secure in the knowledge that they'll gobble it up.

When the "polls" close in on reality in late September like they always do there will be riots. The Kamala Harris campaign ends when Trump makes his opening statement on September 10th.

Videos of Police ordered by Walz to shoot paintball guns at people trying to go outside their houses during COVID are rolling around right now.

The real hammer will be the ads reminding everyone Kamala kept Black men in prison past their sentences for prison labor.

Most people don’t click on sponsored ads because they are most often bogus. Most people don’t give them credence, most people have a modicum of discernment and don’t waste time online watching sponsored ads. As for being fraudulent, yes they could be seen that way and Democrats should probably stop doing this, it’s wasted money and fodder for some Trumpists to get all verklempt and turn it into a national emergency.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

Yes FAKE headlines, which is appropriate for the Onion or the Babylon Bee but not for actual news content. Notice none of the news outlets she rewrote headlines for are complaining like they would if Trump had deceptively edited them. Make no mistake, she is creating headlines that make it appear the news outlet supports her in articles that sometimes say the opposite in their real content.

Exactly, Inga - they take an outlet's trademark - e.g., AP/Reuters or PBS (including the head silhouette design mark) - and place it on text that did not originate from that outlet - the false headlines and supporting text. False designation of origin is when something, like a logo or symbol, makes people think a product comes from a different place than it really does. This is not allowed for trademarks because it can be misleading and confusing for customers.”

A video from May 30, 2020, shows law enforcement sweeping a small, residential street in the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis.

Authorities at the time were tasked with enforcing an 8 p.m. curfew in Minneapolis issued by Walz, who was seeking to quell the riots and violent protests that began in the wake of the murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020.

Users incorrectly claimed the police were enforcing a COVID-19 lockdown in Minnesota. Other users falsely said Walz "ordered" police to shoot at residents.

The police action was not related to COVID-19 lockdowns, and there is no evidence that Walz asked officers to shoot paintballs at residents.“

Frey speaks during a news conference Thursday, May 28, 2020 in Minneapolis. (Marci Schmitt — Star Tribune/Star Tribune)

Jacob Frey has been cast as the mayor who lost control of his city, enduring criticism from the state's governor that the Minneapolis response to rioting in May over the police killing of George Floyd was an "abject failure."

Now Frey is speaking out, saying Gov. Tim Walz failed to take his requests for help seriously until it was too late.

In an interview Monday, Frey said that Walz hesitated to send in the National Guard to quell the growing violence and then blamed him for allowing the city to burn.

"Through an extremely difficult situation, I told the truth," Frey said Monday. "I relayed information as best I could to state partners. And we did what was demanded for the sake of our city."

Texts and e-mails obtained from Minneapolis by the Star Tribune through public records requests show the city was trying to give Walz and the state Department of Public Safety what they said they needed to move forward.

State officials, meanwhile, said the city did not provide the detailed information they needed to deploy the Guard until the next day. By then, dozens of buildings had been looted and torched.

On Wednesday, May 27, the second evening of unrest around the Third Precinct, Frey said Police Chief Medaria Arradondo called him at 6:23 p.m. to say that the Target store near the police station was being looted and that he needed the National Guard.

Frey said he immediately telephoned Walz, at 6:29 p.m., relayed information, and asked him to send in the National Guard. "We expressed the seriousness of the situation. The urgency was clear," Frey said.

"He did not say yes," Frey said of Walz. "He said he would consider it."

Frey insisted that he explicitly asked whether his verbal requests constituted a formal request, and the governor's staff confirmed that they did. The governor's office disputes that.

The documents, released by the city late last week, corroborate this sequence of events.
