I've backed off that position. I still think there's grooming taking place, but not necessarily - in fact, I think probably not primarily - with a sexual goal. Instead I've come to believe that once you commit to medicalizing yourself permanently and for the rest of your life as the solution to the feelings, perhaps really distressing feelings, of unease that come with dysphoria (I assume all kinds, not just gender dysphoria), you have a strong interest in convincing others to do the same, to validate your own actions.

But Maher's use of the word "entrapment" struck a chord with me. And his pointing out that children will normalize whatever is happening to them - all the way up to terrible abuse - is something we would all do well to keep in mind.

So why is this subject, transgenderness, so fraught and so widely discussed when, really, it affects such a small number of people (even now)? It has to be because its sufferers, for whom we can properly feel compassion, have the option of taking what seems to be an "easy" way out of their distress, but that if they do so, it doesn't magically resolve that distress and instead saddles them with a whole regimen of medical treatments they have to follow forever.

So in order to believe that they haven't made a terrible mistake, they want to see more and more people following the same path, and the people easiest to convince to do so are children, who normalize whatever they see.

And children, some of them now pushed into normalizing Gay Pride parades involving street sex and strip shows aimed squarely at them, but more often just forced to normalize a constant valorization of sexual behavior - any sexual behavior - for which they have no context, are no longer normalizing the pathway, THE pathway, that leads to happiness, success, and peaceful civil society for the vast majority of people: a stable, committed, two-parent dyad (a heterosexual dyad is most effective) raising multiple children together.

(The valorization of single motherhood - which, no matter how heroic any particular single mother may be, is suboptimal for raising kids - has a similar result, but because it doesn't focus on the sexual, it's not as breathlessly interesting.)

And because that lack of normalization is happening to a lot of kids, kids will grow up not seeking it out, and while most will still stumble into it or something like it through biology alone, they won't recognize how important it is to society's continued functioning, so they won't teach it to their own single child if they produce one, and voila, we're in the death spiral, eventually to auger in.; 4/21/24, 8:36 AM

I am sure myself that if such people could see in the darkness at noon which the media has become, they would see Trump as a rational political actor. For example, they would see that economically Trump is proposing in relation to China the solutions proposed and implemented in the Eighties in relation to Japan's economic challenge - well worked out trade deals. Socially, Trump is proposing advancement based on merit. The black community does not want this according to the media but that doesn't make Trump a racist. By opposing merit the black community is putting itself at odds with the Hispanics and the Asians and the real liberals - as shown especially in the case of the Jews.
