Sunrise — 6:01, 6:03.

The times in the post title look late, I know, but you see where the sun is in those photos, quite far above the horizon. It's not that I was late for the sunrise, which happened at 5:36 today. I was out there and had run all the way to my vantage point. But here's how it looked at 5:33.

D7D3D628-F3C7-4514-8C70-F600C6C5A2F1_1_105_c

Not too promising — though the seahorse shape is nice — and I'd given up on getting anything good, but then, driving back, I saw some good things happening and stopped at my secondary vantage point for those late shots above.

Write about anything you want in the comments.

Stanford Law School has parted ways with the diversity administrator who in March joined students in protesting a sitting federal judge..
Steinbach had seized the podium from Kyle Duncan, a judge on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and, in a video that went viral on social media, lambasted the conservative jurist for causing "harm."

"Do you have something so incredibly important to say," she asked, that it is worth the "division of these people?" She went on to tell him that he had to weigh whether the "juice [was] worth the squeeze."

Steinbach also commended the hecklers—one of whom allegedly told Duncan, "We hope your daughters get raped"—telling the students that she was "glad" to see the protest happening. In a conversation with students after the event, she laid the blame for the meltdown entirely at Duncan's feet.

Hopefully, we are moving into a brave new world..
A world where saying "juice worth the squeeze" gets you Fired on the spot

So Jason Aldean is catching A LOT of shit for his new song because of the lyrics in this video.

Let’s highlight some music lyrics that aren’t causing any controversy and see why that might be. Shall we?

• DMX: ‘If you got a daughter older than 15, I’mma rape her/Take her on the living room floor, right there in front of you/Then ask you seriously, what you wanna do?’

• ICE CUBE: ‘So don't follow me up and down your market/ Or your little chop-suey ass will be a target/ Of the nationwide boycott/ Juice with the people, that's what the boy got/So pay respect to the Black fist/ Or we`ll burn your store right down to a crisp/ And then we`ll see ya/ Cause you can't turn the ghetto into Black Korea.’

• SADAT X: ‘Though I can freak, fly, flow, fuck up a fa#%ot, Don't understand their ways, I ain't down with gays’

• BIGGIE: ‘Then I'm dippin' up the block and I'm robbin' bitches, too/Up the herringbones and bamboos/I wouldn't give a fuck if you're pregnant/Give me the baby rings and the #1 Mom pendant’

• RICK ROSS: ‘Put Molly all in her champagne, she ain’t even know it/I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain't even know it’

I could go on and on, but you get the idea.

Spare me the fucking outrage.

Memphis has hit the bigtime. The Weather Channel did a whole segment on our recent series of tree and powerline toppling storms. The CEO of our utility co was on explaining the difficulties, and mentioned their ongoing $1.3 billion upgrading project. Said that in the last 18 months there had been more people left w/o power than in the previous ten years, and I can believe it.

Weekly storms have left tens and scores of thousands powerless, sometimes for more than a week, and as soon as the damage from one storm is substantially dealt with, another comes along.

Perhaps the old, weak, and vulnerable trees are being winnowed out and we'll go through a calmer spell.

Quoting Biggie, who is dead for 20+ years (and a bunch of mostly very old songs) is pretty hilarious too. If you are going to play the whataboutism game at least use songs from the current century!

What happens when you take, quiet, law abiding, honest, upright people who are not your enemy and attack their very values. What happens when you blame them for the lawlessness and mayhem of others? What happens when you prosecute them for nothing while letting others go who commit more serious crimes? Do you think they will listen to your point of view when you tell them that they are not allowed to speak? Do you think they will be sympathetic to your issues? Or do you not care because when you are in power, your philosophy is might makes right? What happens when those others decide to adopt your philosophy for themselves? It has happened in history before….

The treatment of RFK Jr. by Debbie Wasserman Schultz and fellow 'democrats', and their efforts to vilify, censor, and slander him tells us all how fucked we are. Free speech. Truth seeking. And any disobedience to the established gov't narrative is attacked. Jackles are more gentle surrounding a zebra.

The blame for this lies fully on America's corrupt media, and ivory tower education establishment.

Reading that Disney is selling off its parts- business is down, especially the pet projects of Kathleen Kennedy( the affirmative action, woke feminist hero) those are down 75%
turns out when you produce woke crap, it doesn't sell. Kennedy and Iger destroyed a great company. they turned it into a woke, pro pedo, pro trans, pro feminist nightmare which is slowly imploding.
the parks went high end, so much so that a weekend at the hotel and the park cost was in the thousands.and now non-elite people-normies, are staying away. wait times are now almost non existent.
Oh gosh, it must be us normies and Trump who are to blame, not wanting to see more progressive virtue signaling.
the above mention 'executives'will no doubt make millions, while the workers will be laid off.
Some mention of them selling off ABC as well. Maybe Musk can buy it and turn it into an actual organization that does journalism, instead of propaganda.

Thanks for all your thought-provoking posts. Also the posters here (myself excluded) are interesting and varied.
We are lucky in Vancouver BC right now to be without smoke. Looks like you are too.
Best to you both,

What a bunch of bullshit! Biden doesn't go home to Delaware except on weekends and he doesn't run a single stitch of his reelection campaign.

“The president is really rewriting the playbook when it comes to what a reelection campaign looks like and how we are in deep partnership with the DNC,” said Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden’s campaign manager.

DNC money is not the same as disappearing Trump-sponsored campaign fundraising (one for the campaign, one for me). And the DNC has worker bees already in place in the boonies.

In a rare statement from our $1.08 billion Powerball winner, he says that he will finally be able to afford an apartment in L.A.

"This massive sum of money will finally let me rent a modest studio apartment," said the winner, who is a lawyer, hedge fund manager, and part-time plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills.

Found this little nugget in the article: "Among several duties this team provides is security for VIPs and intelligence assistance to Ukrainian Special Operations Forces, according to the current U.S. official. The official stressed that they are not on the front lines and they are not accompanying Ukrainian troops in Ukraine." Sure.

The House Oversight Committee heard testimony on Wednesday from two IRS agents who say the Department of Justice dragged its feet on investigating the younger Biden for tax fraud. The hearing produced zero actual evidence, so instead, Marjorie Taylor Greene tried to claim that Biden engaged in sex trafficking and listed payments to sex workers as a tax write-off.

To support her argument, she held up poster-size prints of Biden’s nude photos, which were taken off his laptop. Not only were her actions wildly inappropriate—Oversight Chair James Comer did not reprimand her, though—but she may also have violated D.C. revenge porn law.

Apparently, she is not against Melania's nude poses published on the pages of GQ - taken in London aboard DJT's jet before they were married.

After the opening day of the MLB season, my (former) hometown team, the hapless Pittsburgh Pirates were in last place with a record of 0-1. I predicted they would remain there throughout the season. They stunned me. One-third of the way through the season they were in 1st place. Not to worry though, they have reverted to their true performance capabilities. They are firmly planted in last place. There is (arguably) no worse owner in all of pro sports.

Living in the north woods, our electric power goes out on a regular basis. High winds or a wayward downed tree typically does us in. A few months ago I finally bit the bullet and purchased a whole house 20KW natural gas generator. It was a no brainer considering I produce my own natural gas. Gas production is not unlimited so I can't run it 24-7. Not cheap though, $8K plus installation. It's all automatic and does a self-test weekly for 20 minutes. Sweet.

Power has not gone out since.

"The most ignorant people in America must be those poor souls who rely on the New York Times for their news. The Times is a typical left-wing outlet, in that it exists not to cover the news, but to cover up the news. Its treatment of yesterday’s House Oversight Committee hearing, featuring testimony by IRS investigators Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, is a case in point."

"The thing is, it’s not really a joke. The criminals are in fact tools of the Democrats — that’s why they promote crime when they’re in power — in a war to disorient and demoralize the normies. " - Glenn Reynolds.

I love it when people begin to really see the light. Once you see how they operate, it's everywhere, from the "mostly peaceful riots" by Democrats, really about being the creation of a feeling of chaos that could be projected onto Trump, to J6, and BTW, the FBI masterminded kidnapping plot/Reichstag Fire ploy in Michigan, to using ultra-nationalists bent on ethnic cleansing to further a foreign policy that can only work if we completely dominate the globe, whether the people of Earth want it or not.

They are messianic about the expansion of their power in order to counter the threat of climate change, which they have mostly manufactured out of some pretty thin gruel. It reminds me of a drawing I once saw of a "witch doctor" who had a fearsome mask on the end of a stick that he used to frighten his followers, and he alone could dominate it. Well, of course, because he held the other end of the stick.

As for the Reichstag Fire, people forget that Germany was a liberal democracy before that event, and it led to the creation of the Gestapo, with unlimited law enforcement powers, unconstrained by judicial review, and restrictions on speech and the shutdown of opposition newspapers. Does any of that sound familiar?

Joe Biden was paid $5 million to scuttle the Ukrainian prosecutor, and Trump was impeached by Pelosi and Schiff for inquiring about it. Why?

I think it’s not just Biden who is exposed, but the whole gang that supported him and Hunter in the enterprise. That would be Jake Sullivan, Tony Blinken, and a few others to be named. Pelosi’s son, Kerry’s stepson, Romney’s kin possibly involved. I can imagine a lot of sweating and threatening going on within the cabal. Will be interesting to see where this goes!

"Obama fanned the flames, inserting himself into every racial controversy. From the Cambridge arrest of Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates, where Obama opined that Cambridge police acted “stupidly,” to the Trayvon Martin shooting in Florida, regarding which Obama noted that “if he had a son, he would look like Trayvon,” Obama made himself the arbiter-in-chief of racial controversies, even when the facts remained unknown. Rather than withholding comment before the facts were revealed in full and the legal process played out, Obama slipped on his political commentator hat and weighed in from Olympus."

GO WOKE, GO BROKE. THEY DESERVE NOTHING LESS!!!

"Luke Bryan has more than two dozen videos on Country Music Television (CMT) that earn the network tens of thousands of dollars per month. Or should we say “had.”

Standing in solidarity with his good friend Jason Aldean, Bryan notified CMT that he was pulling their license to use his material effective immediately. “Your network isn’t fit for my music,” he reportedly told Executive Vice President Joe Barron, “Until you reinstate Jason’s video and issue him a formal apology, you get nothing from my label.”

The action is prompting others in the country community to do the same. Sources say Toby Keith is next in line, with others considering it as well."
