"Biden is using his executive authority to offer hundreds of thousands more migrants per year an opportunity to come to the United States legally..."

"... in the hope that he can dissuade millions more from crossing unlawfully," WaPo reports in "Biden’s border plans face a major test as Title 42 restrictions end."

But: "His campaign promises of a more welcoming approach at the border have been repeatedly stymied by new waves of people crossing illegally, and former officials say he has become visibly angry at times behind closed doors as his aides sparred over whether tougher measures might stem the flow.... The president wanted to create a path to U.S. citizenship for the 11 million undocumented immigrants who have lived for years in the shadows. Biden also said he did not want mass migration and havoc at the border. But illegal crossings along the southern border reached 2.4 million last year, the highest ever."

The Democratic Party stopped all public debate in 2020 when the field folded and anointed Biden as their figurehead. This was the first time in my life that they didn't engage in a circular firing squad -- and they chose to replicate the worst of Jimmy Carter!

Public debate would confirm that Trump Derangement Syndrome is fading. Slow fade or a rapid break?

watch the tape of Biden's 2020 platform.

He invited millions to cross the border illegally using the "Asylum" excuse.

Asylum is for people who are being threatened with death. Asylum is not for the world's down trodden who seek a better life. The US cannot absorb the worlds' population - because "better life" (funny all of the illegal entrants are from poorly run corrupt socialist hell-holes)

Biden and his mob-handlers know what they are doing. They are welcoming illegals so they can import millions of new government dependents and D- voters.

That's not going to make one bit of difference unless he plans to fast track millions annually into the legal channel and all of them from latin america, all of them low skilled. There's no deterrence from this administration ever. Their answer is to make what's illegal legal, which is the same as their strategy to "lower crime".

The only way a democrat is going to reduce illegal immigration is to make the US standard of living as lousy as the countries they are leaving. Biden is hard at work on that as we speak.

wendybar (10:26am):
What disgusts me about calling illegal aliens "undocumented immigrants" is that the latter is a clear and useful term for a completely different thing. A legal immigrant who can't lay his hands on his green card when asked for it is in a world of trouble, even if it's not his fault. This must happen quite often, when a legal immigrant's house burns down, or someone picks his pocket, or he just absent-mindedly misplaces his wallet. Not having his documents on hand makes him a literal "undocumented immigrant", and 'borrowing' (really stealing) this clear and accurate description of a real thing to use as a sleazy dishonest euphemism for an entirely different thing is evil.

Jupiter said...

I have to admit, it has become increasingly clear that as far as the rest of the world is concerned, we are the bad guys. We have troops stationed all over the world, "defending America's freedom". You have to wonder what "America's freedom" is doing in Africa.

In the long run, there is no real meaningful difference between mass legal and mass illegal immigration, the net result is the displacement of the native population and genocidal war.

Same with people who argue where exactly the right to "asylum" lies on the spectrum. The answer is it doesn't. The goths were facing genuine threats from the Huns, but letting them into the Roman Empire left an emperor beheaded and a third of the realm on fire.

The foreigner facing existential threats does not justify feeding them your own seed corn. And any individual sob story is irrelevant when policy inevitably affects orders more than any one case file.

Mine the border, sink the boats, deport them all. Or accept your ideological complicity in the bloodbath to come.

Trump showed Democrats how to stem the tide (mostly). That they refuse to do so is a mark of unwillingness, incompetence or malevolence.

How is that supposed to work? Once he's made it clear that he doesn't "believe in" illegal immigration and will find a way to legitimize the entry of those who enter the country illegally, why would anyone who wants to come here be "dissuaded" from coming immediately?

Incentives work, as we all know. And "finding a path to citizenship" for 11 million already-here illegal entrants sounds to me like a pretty powerful incentive for more to keep coming.

Remember when the Great Replacement Theory was a far-right extremist conspiracy theory? Much like the "They're coming for your gas stoves" conspiracy theory, it's coming true right in front of your eyes. Biden and his puppet masters have no intention of stopping the flow of illegal immigrants into this country. Their only concern with the Title 42 surge is whether they can ship them out to other areas of the country fast enough.

Of course, they intend that these folks will join the cohort of guaranteed Democrat voters. In the meantime, as they are ill-prepared to participate in a modern economy, having no skills and not speaking English, they need to be supported by government programs. Greatly expanded government programs. Those expanded government programs will obviously necessitate many more government workers. Unionized government workers. And those unions' political contributions totally support the Democrats.

This isn't a 'crisis', it's a carefully orchestrated plan that's working out fine, for Democrat politicians and their cronies. For everybody else, not so much. And unless Republicans can duplicate the Dems exploitation of the revisions in election law put in place during Covid (seems unlikely!), this is going to extend well into the future.
