[I]t was Carlson’s comments about Fox management, as revealed in the Dominion case, that played a role in his departure from Fox, a person familiar with the company’s thinking told The Post.... His Fox News colleagues were stunned by the departure, which seemed out of the blue.
He's already done his last show, and there's no one cued up to take his slot, which will just be filled with "rotating Fox News personalities" for now.
The NYT article brings up a lawsuit filed by "a former Fox News producer, Abby Grossberg, who claims that he presided over a misogynistic and discriminatory workplace culture." She says "that on her first day working for Mr. Carlson, she discovered the work space was decorated with large pictures of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wearing a swimsuit."
Also at the NYT, there's a piece by Hart Seely that went up 2 days ago — "The Fearful Verses of Tucker Carlson" — consisting entirely of overheated sentences spoken by Carlson, mostly begin with the words "This is" (each linked to video): "This is chaos," "This is shocking," "This is what the collapse of civilization looks like," etc. etc.

His next deal will make Joe Rogan look like a piker. If you can deliver an audience of millions, that deal will start with a "B"
No way in Hell they would fire him.
What would we rate the odds of Abby Grossberg, being a progressive, Jewish Democrat?
“The rest of us are having an adult discussion…”
Sounds like Caitlyn Jenner saying Trump was the “adult in the room”.

Looking at all of these comments, I sense that this news about Tucker Carlson and Fox has produced much anger and anguish in the Althouse commentariat."
The only anger and anguish I'm seeing is coming from the usual suspects like Inga, hpudding, Gadfly, Dinky, lonejustice, and yourself.
The rest of us are having an adult discussion about the implications this has for Fox and Tucker, and trying to counter the fake news you keep spreading.
I'm delighted; giddy; amused; satisfied; gratified; triumphant. I thought Tucker Carlson was a malign influence in American life and on the subject of Ukraine I thought he was dangerous and treacherous. I am happy he is gone from such a big platform as Fox News. My only remaining hope is that through additional media reporting, more Fox- and (Tucker-)related lawsuit discovery, even more embarrassing personal details about Carlson will be exposed.
So that's exactly how I feel.
Your turn now.
rwnutjob.
I think he'll go podcast as well. A nice compliment to Rogan. Crowder jumped the shark and let's face it Landau was the only reason anybody watched. Ahoy.
I'm actually finding the victory laps of the Biden voters quite funny. In their short pants. Mis-matched socks and the little beanies with propellers on them. Waving their Tiki torches and gym socks with batteries in them.
I should think the Fox system will find someone to replace Carlson without too much trouble. The most difficult part may be defending any lawsuits the employer and employee remain joint defendants in.
Th left weighs in with zero understanding. Thank you for your contribution. Tucker was not a defendant in any suit and his $60 million will help him set up the next gig. Probably in the Joe Rogan model.
The Murdochs could go for the trifecta: fire Carlson, hire Mulvaney as his replacement, and watch the Bud Light advert revenues roll in.
Seriously, it's looking like Lippmann was correct in 1922 (the dawn of the national newspaper chains and radio networks): the real business of news media in a large democracy is to manufacture consent. All else (advertising revenues, big salaries, profits and king-making power) follows from that role. As margins are bid down by the rise of new tech, the large media will narrow the range of dissent in their pages/broadcasts. Anger and hatred has a role in the manufacture, but must be unidirectional. Above all, doubts about the consensus must be stamped out.
On the evening of the day Tucker and Fox parted ways, Hannity did an interview with DeSantis. I'm sure that was just a coincidence.
I hope Tucker Carlson does a regular podcast. That's something that I will tune into as I putter around the house. Since I didn't listen to the other news or opinion shows on Fox, it will not affect my viewing habits in any way. I just listened to the streaming of Carlson's show via You Tube. I don't have cable television so my viewing habits will have no bearing on Fox's rating numbers.
So all these comments above, both Pro and Against Carlson, miss one major point. These shows are entertainment and bereft of any quality journalism. Carlson had a chance to do something major with the J6 videos and failed miserably. It wasn't entertaining enough for Carlson and his producers. But like everything else in life we will move on and find another entertainer who will get great ratings. People love seeing 'dirt' shown in public.
LLR-democratical Chuck: " My only remaining hope is that through additional media reporting, more Fox- and (Tucker-)related lawsuit discovery, even more embarrassing personal details about Carlson will be exposed.

You mean "embarrassing" like your explicitly stated Violent Homosexual Rage Rape Fantasies that you gleefully, and disturbingly, and proudly shared with the Althouse commentariat?
Or "embarrassing" like your serial racist attacks against black conservatives?
Or "embarrassing" like your clearly unhealthy obsession with certain underage children of politicians?
"embarrassing" things like that?
The Dr weighs in with zero legal understanding. Carlson and his also fired executive producer are co-defendants with Fox entities and other individuals in the sex harrassment/discrimination suit by a staffer on the show that reportedly influenced both the Dominion settlement and the decision to fire Carlson and his gay minion.

Seriously?
Whoever hired Abby should have been fired, for hiring such a pathetic snowflake
News flash Abby: no one put up those posters because they were sexually attracted to Nancy Pelosi.
And if you can't handle working in a place where the people working their hate Nancy Pelosi, you shouldn't have tried to get a job with Tucker Carlson
But I really do appreciate Foxownership doing their best to drive away all actually conservative viewers

Bzzt, wrong
Murdoch wouldn't LET Carlson do more with the J6 video, it wasn't Carlson and his producers fault.
So, are you a pathetic ignoramus, or just a lying sack of sh!t?

Seriously, your'e that clueless?
They fired him because the ownership of Fox is people who consider Mitt Romney to be "harshly conservative".
And they'd rather see "their" network tank into irrelevance, than to see it push an actual populist agenda
Now they're going to get their wish

You're a moron.
Tucker Carlson was being held back by Fox management. They gave up their ability to restrain him.
If you think TC won't find an equally big platform, well you're just as stupid as I think you are.
Except now he's going to get to keep on reporting on the J6 video, and all the other things the Murdoch's didn't want

LOL
So much "legal understanding". The record clearly shows all of Carlson's on air interactions with Powell and Giuliani were non-committal and did not advance any of the theories pushed by the "kraken team". Quite the opposite.
And as for the latest hilarious BS lawsuit, it was put forth by a chick who worked in the NY office for 4 weeks while Carlson was working full time from his Maine and Florida homes.
This is simply more along the lines of readering's and the lefties lies regarding the supposed (BS) conservative supreme court members not living up to their ethical obligations.
So transparently fake. But we learned that long ago when these idiots accused Kavanaugh of having led a rape gang that roamed the streets of Maryland for 10 years that no lie was a lie too far for them.
"However, there is actually a significant problem with her accusations: her own lawyer admits that Grossberg never actually met Tucker Carlson.
“Like many on the [Tucker Carlson Tonight] staff, Abby never met Tucker Carlson in person because he taped the show from his personal studios in Maine and Florida, and he did not visit Fox’s NY HQ during her time there,” Kimberly A. Catala, one of the attorneys representing Grossberg, told Amber Athey of The Spectator."
Another smear job by democrats. They are truly evil.
