"But if I see that a bar is ‘lesbian and queer’ or ‘lesbian and trans,’ it denotes this is not just a gay bar."

"This is a really safe space, and it’s changing the narrative of what it means to be a gay bar, a lesbian bar or a queer bar."

Arora is suspicious of bars that call themselves just "lesbian," because — as the NYT puts it — that "might be used to connote anti-trans ideas about who can, and cannot, identify as a woman."

That runs against the spirit of the headline, which uses the term "Lesbian Bar." Apparently, lesbians are called upon to go out of their way to express inclusiveness toward transwomen.

The article also looks askance at gay bars: "Though the West Hollywood gay bar and nightlife scene is thriving, it generally caters to cisgender men — for the rest of the L.G.B.T.Q. community, it’s not always clear which spaces will make them feel welcome."

Gay bars have always been welcoming of anyone who wants to go. I can easily think of reasons why lesbian bars would not be so open.

That’s reality—some men want their spaces, some women want theirs. But women’s reasons are not the same as men’s reasons (men have much less concern for safety and unwanted attention). Both desires should be accommodated, within reason and in their own way.

Trans women (that’s men living as women, right? Or is that trans men?), who have male genetic drives, regardless of what their activists shout on college quads, are trying to deny biologic women safe spaces.

How did JK Rowling put it? Women are the only group she knows, that are being asked to embrace their subjectors?

rwnutjob: agree, TQ will destroy LGB. But in the meantime we will be entertained by NYT covering ever-more-neurotic behavior by these poor people declaring their paranoias and claiming they’re “safe spaces.”

The Final Days is not just a slogan.

I think women who identify as lesbian are not so much anti-trans as they are phallic-phobic. That seems definitional but apparently even lesbians are expected to pamper the pecker regardless of personal preferences.

Back in the mid 70's my gay friends would who lived in the same apartment complex would warn me off beautiful men - whom in my naivety - passed from a distance as women. The were very protective of me, their very straight friend. I was their - to use a basketball term - dish off for the real and straight women who were their friends. They openly teased and playfully teased their straight women friends as their "fag hags". I accepted their largesse gratefully. Looking back 50 years ago there was always seemed to be small frictions between the masculine gays and the tranny's. But that was a long time ago now.

All you have to do is check out lesbian subs at Reddit to see men have filled the spaces with porn.

It's no wonder lesbians crowd into feminist spaces instead. In a sane world the dykes would get together and beat the crap out of the invaders.

In my mid-20s, my friends and I (men and women, all straight) would frequently go to gay clubs in Houston. We never were hassled or looked at. No one really cared. We just went to dance, because the gay clubs played the best dance music.

Priya Arora is also a Times staffer who can't stop talking about what it's like to be queer and non-binary and South Asian, so the paper is actually making stories up out of interviews with its own staffers.

There's much confusion about sex, gender, and sexual preference. "Non-binary" adds a new layer of complication and confusion. If you ran into Mx. Arora at a bar, how would you know whether they was nonbinary or just another lesbian? And how would you know what pronouns to use? Does they wear a button or have them on a name tag?

Fear is the recruitment hook, a delicious trembling that accompanies a fear that you know is not real. The fear a child has when read a ghost story. In truth no one spends a moment a week thinking of these people. So trans people really think people are out to get them, eradicate them, kill them. But they are mainly miffed that no one notices

I don't have a working knowledge of the Heisenberg Probability Theory or of how to define trans. Do straight guys who get some kind of kick (as is their first amendment right) by cross dressing qualify for entry into the trans community. If so, are they also welcome in lesbian bars? Is a lesbian who goes home with a cross dresser entitled to the same amount of anger at the deception as a straight guy who hooks up with a transvestite? Does a cross dresser feel more validated in his trans identity by hooking up with lesbian or with a straight guy?.. Are furries welcome in the trans community? Do they have to be in mascot uniform in order to be considered proper furries or are off duty furries also welcome?

Trans/homosexuals socially distancing from others in the transgender spectrum, equity, and inclusion in the Pro-Choice religious/ethical paradigm.

Gender is sex-correlated attributes (e.g. sexual orientation). All that will happen is that trans/homosexuals and trans/activists will have to lose their Pro-Choice ethical religion and politically congruent ("=") constructs.

Many real lesbians that I've known have nothing in common with transgendered people and their experience is akin to JK Rowling being labelled a TERF for saying 'biological woman' rather than 'menstruating people.'

The transgender movement already pushed at least one prominent old-line lesbian activist away, and she now hangs out with the censored and the conservatives on Rumble:

This era of...blind sexual anarchy...ends when left-wing people like Ariella Scarella, JK Rowling, Krysten Sinema, and Tulsi Gabbard throw their weight behind a centrist or center-right political faction. Critical thinking is not discriminatory.

I think that we are already seeing that. The left is already eating its own, and doing so before they have permanently secured power. This is really not that different from a homeless person shitting on Nancy Pelosi’s door stoop at her SF mansion, or maybe attacking her husband with a hammer there. The journalists involved in the Twitter Files were dependable leftists - until they saw their ox (free speech) being gored too. They are all waking up to the realization that their side has been taken over by the anarchists, nihilists, Maoists, and generally crazy people, whose goal is to destroy our civilization, one way or another. To destroy the good, along with the bad.

A lot of these people are realizing that they really do like the status quo, more than the alternatives being pushed by their compatriots on the left. Rawlings likes being a billionaire. Sinema loves being one of the most powerful Senators. Whenever you see a picture of Senators, with her in it, she’s inevitably in the middle, and the one your eyes go to first, because of her outfits.

This put me to mind of a 1999 movie 'Better than Chocolate' which I saw in the theater in San Diego. I often sought out movies and books that offered differing perspectives. It was a cute movie centered on a young college girl, dropped out living her lesbian-truth, when mom is coming after leaving her step-dad, along with her brother to stay with her. Only she's sleeping on couches.

Thinking about it, this movie would be murdered today. Oddly, no gay men are in the movie. The only men is a Andrew Dice Clay-like cafe owner and only seen in drive-by skinheads who harass the lesbians. There is a quite well played transgender woman. The movie centers around a lesbian bar. In the bar, Judy, the transgender woman is attacked by butch lesbians in the bathroom as an interloper. Judy and mom form a friendship both being older. Just before mom arrives the main character meets her love interest.

But in reality, neither of the love-interest actresses were actual lesbians and the man who played Judy is likely a cis-gendered actor from what I can tell. Though I thought he created a very relatable character

Here's one take on what happens when you let "trans lesbians" (or whatever they're called) into lesbian bars:

https://twitter.com/ejrosetta/status/1604084067929952256

I'm straight and I don't want to be stalked by a man like that. I can't imagine what it's like for a woman who has decided "no men, never ever ever".

Where have you been that this is just now being noticed? It has been quite a while now where TRAs have literally demanded that lesbians suck their lesbian-dick when lesbians say that vaginas are actually rather essential for their partners.

I don't have a working knowledge of...how to define trans

That's the thing - definitions defeat the whole idea. Like same-sex "marriage," trans ideology is all about the lack of definition, about ever-changing definitions if definitions are insisted upon. There are no definitions is the point. Just like the related concept that there is no truth.

Well, I was dancing at a night club one Friday night
And that night club bar was a little uptight
Yeah, I was dancing all alone a little self conscious
When some kids came up and said
"For dancing come with us"
And soon...

I was dancing in a lesbian bar, ah-oo, ah-oo
I was dancing in a lesbian bar, ooh, ooh, ooh

Well, I was dancing in the lesbian bar
In the industrial zone
I was dancing with my friends
And dancing alone

Well, the first bar things were alright
But in this bar, things were Friday night!
In the first bar things were just alright
In this bar things were Friday night

I was dancing in a lesbian bar, ah-oo, ah-oo
I was dancing in a lesbian bar, ooh, ooh, ooh

Well, I was dancing in the lesbian bar
Way downtown
I was there to check the scene
And hang around

Well, the first bar things were stop and stare
But in this bar things were laissez faire!
In the first bar things were stop and stare
This bar things were laissez-faire

I was dancing in a lesbian bar, ah-oo, ah-oo
I was dancing in a lesbian bar, ooh, ooh, ooh

In the first bar folks were drinking sips
But in this bar they could shake their hips!
In the first bar they were drinking sips
In this bar they could shake their hips

I was dancing in a lesbian bar, ah-oo, ah-oo
I was dancing in a lesbian bar, ooh, ooh, ooh

Well, in the first bar, things were okay
But in this bar things were more my way!
In the first bar things were just okay
In this bar things were done my way

I was dancing in a lesbian bar, ah-oo, ah-oo
I was dancing in a lesbian bar, ooh, ooh, ooh

Well, in the first bar things were controlled
But in this bar things were Rock and Roll!
In the first bar things were so controlled
In this bar things were way way bold

I was dancing in a lesbian bar, ah-oo, ah-oo
I was dancing in a lesbian bar, ooh, ooh, ooh

Are there any bars for straight white males, or is that illegal.

If your subjective feelings make you a woman, can you really demand that someone whose subjective feelings make them attracted to real women, rather than transwomen, and sexually repulsed by anyone who has a penis override those feelings? You might think that if you can alter your biology, other people might be able to override their sexual attractions, but I don't think it works that way. Your inner conviction that you were in the wrong body may have been strong and undeniable, but so is some women's revulsion from anything male.

But what do I know? I still think there are enough masculine women and enough feminine men in the world that they ought to be perfectly happy together.
