"For years, the media has continued to report President Biden’s repeated claim that 'I have never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings.'"

"At the outset, the media only had to suspend any disbelief that the president could fly to China as Vice President with his son on Air Force 2 without discussing his planned business dealings on the trip. Of course, the emails on the laptop quickly refuted this claim. However, the media buried the laptop story before the election or pushed the false claim that it was fake Russian disinformation. President Biden’s denials continued even after an audiotape surfaced showing President Biden leaving a message for Hunter specifically discussing coverage of those dealings... Some of us have written for two years that Biden’s denial of knowledge is patently false.... Reporters have to insist that there was nothing to see or they have to admit to being part of the original deception... The media is now so heavily invested in the trick that they are sticking with the illusion even after 'the reveal.'..."

Writes Jonathan Turley.

They're stuck with Joe. If the Dems had taken heavy losses in the mid-terms, then there would have been ammo to use against Joe running for reelection. But now, they can't. He- and more importantly the people around him- will argue that he's not politically toxic. And in 2024, Hunter's business dealings will come up again.

Honestly, the best bet might be to simply have Hunter "relapse" and die from a tragic overdose. It would blunt any line of attack.

If right-wingers cared for democracy, electoral integrity or what the majority of the country who aren’t right-wing thought then I’d ask them what Biden’s crack-smoking son doing business abroad has to do with national interests or security.

But of course they don’t so I just assume it’s about their usual compulsion for confusing the personal with the political. The president’s son has some personal vices and traumas so they get rabidly excited about that and proclaim that Biden is therefore corrupt.

Even if they use this to force Biden out of office, no one in the media or the FBI who was part of the coverup will have any consequences that matter.

Anybody who believed Biden didn't make money with his son from foreign business dealings while the Big Guy was VP is stupid. To believe they never even talked about it is insanity. Anyone who promoting either of these lies is dishonest and corrupt.

Bobulinski and the laptop were always telling and delivering the truth. That's why they are both suppressed.

It's also why the left is freaking out about new Twitter. This and a long list of other bullshit propaganda.

Is it in fact an illusion? I mean, per the Althouse theorem, progs don't actually believe their own BS, in general and in this instance, do they?

Turley is good, in the current academic context great, but perhaps still not cynical enough.

Sure you would. You can’t even honestly state the question. How is the president and before that vice-president co-mingling bank accounts and office space with his crackhead son AND the head of China’s spy agencies NOT in our national interest given the shady money already widely reported. Turley identified the key issue: Biden has obviously repeatedly lied about his involvement and knowledge of his family business. His brother, sister, son and he have been intimately involved with the most corrupt kleptocrats and enemies of the USA. Should not we at least investigate the appearance of impropriety implied by his blatantly false statements to us, the American public?

Or are Trump’s inconsequential “lies” the press obsesses on like the crowd at his inauguration still more important than national security?

I'll bite. Hunter's overseas business dealings would have nothing to do with national interests or security as long as the Big Guy was not involved. But we don't know that, do we?

The FBI knows. The FBI knows how much Bitcoin the Bidens own. We’ll never know. It would lead to a real nsurrection.

The saying is true: When you owe the bank millions, you own the bank. Biden’s heft and corruption is so massive that to expose it would destroy the Republic. That’s the Big Lie.

Hilarious. Typical Democrat "reasoning" from pudding head. Lyndon Johnson did his own bribe negotiation with Herman Brown. The Democrats have progressed much in the bribery department.

HP--Really?

Does it concern you at all that the Hunter Biden corruption focuses on two somewaht significant countries of major concern to the US--China and Ukraine?

Or that access to/influence on our former VP/current president was the primary reason for the payoffs to Hunter?

Otr that Biden used the threat of witholding a $Billion in US defense funding from Ukraine to get the prosecutor investigating Hunter fired?

In a perverse way, the obvious blackmail leverage against the President doesn't work as well when the press doesn't care about and doesn't report on the corrupt dealings.

So we have that going for us.

But it seems pretty obvious that there are serious national securities concerns involved.

Dave Begley said...

Will any Congressperson ask the FBI or DOJ or the NSA how much crypto the Bidens own?

It is the obvious question. Will that fake Bob Woodward ask the question? Follow the money!

If an idiot lawyer in Omaha can figure this out, the smartest people in the room surely know the score.

Oh ok, I see. So it’s another one of those guilt-by-association things, then. IOW, smear. Innuendo. Kind of like how the failed Alaska governor accused Obama of “paling around with terrorists.”

Not much different from condemning him for having a son with personal issues.

But I’ll bite. Seeing as how this Turley guy thought it was ok for Trump to hold foreign policy hostage to his domestic political interests, if you can identify a single instance of how BIden’s “bad” associations were used against us, then an investigation at least I’d see the purpose of.

Until then, I couldn’t care less about what the crowd opposed to impeaching Trump or investigating the attack on the capitol that he instigated says about this. If right wing politicians were held accountable for every sleazy association they had, none of them would hold office. Especially with the esteem they hold for the Brylcreemed president who couldn’t remember selling arms to Iran.

tim in vermont said...

We know that Joe Biden was involved in Hunter’s dealings. There’s an email on the laptop from Burisma asking Hunter to make the investigation go away a short while before Joe Biden fired the Ukrainian prosecutor who was giving the billionaire oligarch so much agita. (Spellcheck doesn’t think “agita” is a word.)

All they have is gaslighting.

They believe that the end justifies the means and that Trump is an ungodly monster who has to be taken down by any means necessary. That's a self-evident Truth for state media. They believe that Trump is guilty -- guilty of something -- and you just have to keep digging until you can prove it, and believe just as firmly that investigations have proven that Biden is guilty of nothing. All the talk of a "post-Truth" world is nonsense. People believe in "Truth" -- maybe more than ever. "Truth," though, doesn't always closely correspond to reality.

If power is the end goal, rather than a means to an end, then there's nothing to be gained from wise rule: If you tell them to do reasonable things, how do you know they did it because of the command or because it was reasonable?

This comes to mind when we are asked to believe the absurd or to agree with obvious lies. This is power asserting itself. "We can do what we want and you peasants can only grumble about it."

The lengths of stupidity the media and political establishment will travel to deny Trump's existence are endless and timeless.... I don't think they can acknowledge that men and women of average intelligence are able to see through these canards and the result becomes increased resentment of the self-appointed elites and increased sympathy for Trump. They may as well just say what they're thinking, to wit, "just shut up."

Let me just bold something here:

Well, that's the point, Sparky! If the vaunted Free Press is going to cover their ears and close their eyes and refuse to do their job - actually, not only refuse to do their job but actively play for the side of deceit and obfuscation, how can we know?

Ok, how about the war going on between Russia and Ukraine? We know that Hunter took bribes from both Ukraine and China. Is our support for Ukraine just the Bidens staying bought? Not only have we shipped them $Billion$ in arms, depleting our arsenals of critical munitions, but so have our NATO allies. Moreover, Biden, by use of sanctions, forced the Russians out of using $Dollar$ when selling oil and gas, weakening it’s position as the world’s reserve currency, thus making our sovereign debt less attractive as an investment, forcing the Federal Reserve to pick up the extra, inflating our money supply, and helping to bring along Bidenflation.

As for the PRC, the Bidens’ even more generous purchaser, His Administration completely ignored that they (with some Fauci funding) created the SARS-CoV-2 virus, in one of their Wuhan virology labs, then, as they are want to do, negligently released it into the general public. Do we really know that the reason that our public health officials are still prattling on about a zoonotic origin of the virus, despite it having been very obviously optimized for humans, is mere stupidity? Could that have been the favor that PRC officials called in? We don’t know. We just know that these agencies have acted criminally since before FJB took office, but getting much worse after that.

It’s always refreshing when one of the election deniers takes his mask off and revealingly admits his tribe’s contemptuous opposition to voting and voters all along.

Never knew there was a movement to replace house elections with Athenian-style decision-making, but those things are certainly constitutional and work pretty well in the most authentic parts of America such as New England.
