"And there I was in Lincoln’s bedroom, asleep, fallen asleep in the bosom of Abraham himself. He just woke me up and laughed. President laughed his head off."
Writes Bono, quoted in "Bono: I woke up in Abraham Lincoln’s bedroom after boozing with Obama" (NY Post).

Stick to the Cher theme you started. The day should belong to Sonny Bono, not the other one.
But maybe it's time for the "Bono has made a u-turn on capitalism" talk.
'Boozing.'
What about the weed and blow up on the roof?
My husband has a disproportionate reaction to red wine. I didn't know it was a thing. Cool.
He's making a pun on an old spiritual(about the Biblical Abraham, but also the place in the New Testament where righteous souls awaited the Messiah). It's been sung by everyone from Louis Armstrong to Elvis.
"Rock-a my soul in the bosom of Abraham
Rock-a my soul in the bosom of Abraham
Rock-a my soul in the bosom of Abraham
Lord, rock-a my soul."
One of the MANY celebrity parties that Obama threw for himself.
Was that were Obama was during Benghazi?
We never did find out...
I hate celebrity culture.
Had to click the link to confirm he wasn't talking about sharing a laugh with Lincoln's ghost.
Lincoln never slept there. The white house was falling apart in the 40s by the time Truman moved in.
It was completely gutted to just the 4 exterior walls and built anew.
Here's a pic of what it looked like in 48

I heard Bono being interviewed on NPR this weekend. Might have been the New Yorker show David Remnick does. Insufferable. I don't know how the other guys in the band tolerate him. And he's even worse than he was ten years ago. On the other hand, when I play U2's music, I'm amazed at how strong albums I thought were mediocre at first were, stuff like All that You Can't Leave Behind and How to Dismantle and Atom Bomb. They hold up. Kind of like the Stones. Emotional Rescue and Voodoo Lounge are a whole lot better than I thought at the time.
Bono really should shut up, though.
Two of the people I find most annoying in the world in 1 article.
Add in Bruce Springsteen and it would the trifecta for me.
Glad I could only read the "headline" & know I needed to go no farther.
Did he jump up and down on it like Clinton's guests?
No wonder they believed the Trump pee stories, as usual for the left, it's not so very different from what they would do.
Bono and Obama. The two were made for one another.
I’d rather hear him speak inanities than hear his awful band.
Truly excremental…
Here I sleep, broken hearted
Tried to sleep but
Obama is laughing his head off
buzz from booze only?!

Q: bedroom definition = need to be 'the walls floor and ceiling' enclosing the room or the room containing 'the bed [? used by Lincoln?]'

Thanks for the link. I knew there had been major renovations, but I didn't know how major. I wonder why they kept anything. Wouldn't it be simpler to knock it all down and start over?
I never get all the Bono or U2 hate. Generally I’ve learned most people that spout off about them don’t know enough about him or the band or him. Miraculous career against all odds, same original lineup, no drug or groupie issues, and are all best friends. I’m looking forward to the new memoir he wrote
Was Jeff Spicoli there?
'I never get all the Bono or U2 hate.'
Don't care one way or the other about the band, but Bono is a caricature of a left-wing celebrity blowhard.
If he wasn't real somebody would invent him...
One of my favorite "new" songs from 2022 (new to me, that is) was a bonus track from the 2011 Deluxe Edition of Achtung Baby, "Blow Your House Down." I had the original CD from 1991 and never bought the Deluxe Edition (or 2021's 30th anniversary remaster of the album), but with streaming music, I found the song this year.
U2 - Blow Your House Down
So, was Bono the top or the bottom?
Enquiring minds...
Bono, who was blaming the "wild beast" of capitalism for world poverty just three years ago, now sees capitalism in a more positive light:
“There’s a funny moment when you realize that as an activist: The off-ramp out of extreme poverty is, ugh, commerce, it’s entrepreneurial capitalism. I spend a lot of time in countries all over Africa, and they’re like, Eh, we wouldn’t mind a little more globalization actually. I would point out that there has been a lot of progress over the years,”
But I guess that wasn't the discussion of the day after all.
"a left-wing celebrity blowhard."
He's very unreliable as a left-winger. Kind of all over the place politically in many ways.
