I am listening to the Wisconsin gubernatorial debate and I am amazed that Tony Evers failed to deny that he accepts abortion up to the point of birth, which is what Michels accused him of.

I wish there were a way to send them a message telling them what I think of their new policy.

You know him better than I, so I assume there's reason to be amazed, if only at the lack of the usual cynical "moderate" Dem posturing. But observing from afar, I had the same reaction as other commenters here: might he just be sticking to his "principles," and be most concerned about losing the pro-infanticide Dem base?

By Dem standards and the logic of bodily autonomy, IS there any reasonable time limit on abortion? Maybe I've missed it, but besides ritual invocation of Roe I haven't seen any argument from the left on that score, and I don't know what that argument would look like. Even if there is an argument, lefty pressure now seems to make it harder for anyone to acknowledge that early limits might be a good thing. As Evers may realize.

Democrats know better than to deny acceptance of abortion up to the point of birth, because the followup is: What limits on abortion do you support?

I'm not rabidly pro- or anti-abortion, so I have no problem answering that question. For some reason, many who favor unlimited abortion with no restrictions whatsoever have difficulty saying so honestly.

The war in Ukraine is going badly for Russia and a group called milbloggers or military bloggers has been reporting on the reasons within the armed forces of Russia for the impending defeat. This had led to the Russian Department of Defense the MoD] circulating a list of milbloggers who are to be punished in some or silenced. These milbloggers are not what I would call good guys - they are fanatical Russian nationalists who have been calling the Ukrainians vermin that need to be exterminated. But they have also been calling for the Russian Forces to be so organized as to be effective and blaming the MoD for defeats and mobilization problems. And so now they are in trouble -and strangely they sound just like conservative columnists discussing their exclusion from Facebook and Twitter a few years back. It's a little wierd to read them. Here's one (translation by Google Translate):

"... according to some respected people, military correspondents and independent analysts are again to blame for everything. The list of insidious and shrewd military correspondents, from whom all the troubles and sorrows in the Moscow state ... [is] extensive ... God be with ... the initiators of [the lists] compilation and those who will implement the task.

I'm talking about something else. About the truth. She might be annoying to someone. The truth can be painful. She can be annoying. Can ruin someone's career and financial well-being. The truth is bitter medicine. It's like political chemotherapy. Difficult and with side effects. But in our case, the truth is the only medicine that can help us all.
If we refuse to see reality as it is, we simply do not understand where we are going

If someone is afraid to say something to people, or is afraid that military correspondents and publicists say something not too reassuring to people, then, of course, you can try and forbid [them] to speak.
...

But it is worth remembering that our enemies will say what we have not said. And just the way they need it. Moreover, the more fierce the enemy, the more convincing he will be.
Hiding from the truth, we give the information battlefield to the enemy. Every time in Russia they did not want to accept the truth as it is, it ended badly for the country. Not always critical. But bad every time.

Our first code of laws was called Russkaya Pravda. This is our foundation, root, and core."

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has, for the first time in state history, canceled the winter snow crab season in the Bering Sea due to the reduction of the crab population estimated by you-know-who to be as much as 90%.

So if there are no shellfish to catch, what difference does this cancellation make? Something fishy is going on among the Warmists now in charge of permitting ocean food harvesting. Salmon, tuna, and halibut fishing will likely go bye-bye also if Alaska F & G gets its way.

When you wonder why we are so divided as a nation...look no further than the Messiah of the left...EVERYTHING he says about Republicans is exactly what the Democrats are doing.

"Former President Barack Obama was speaking to Europeans at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit in a closed door session and racializing the fact that many Republicans have the audacity to disagree with him,

"Sometimes, it just turns out they’re mean, they’re racist, they’re sexist, they’re angry. Your job is to just beat them because they’re not persuadable … Sometimes we get filled up in our own self-righteousness. We’re so convinced we’re right that we forget what we are right about."

Well, he’s right about one thing. The Democrats are nothing if not “self-righteous”."

Apparently, gadfly (who tells us, he is NOT a liberal), doesn't support ANY limits on abortions
(though, he doesn't "approve" of them)
Which puts him in the same position as MOST liberals (all, except that ones that APPROVE of abortions)

None of our other well known liberals responded; and the ONLY liberal that Did respond,
said that
a) he's NOT a liberal, he just seems to have all liberal opinions
b) he doesn't "approve" of abortions, but will NOT mention ANY limits that he would be in favor of

Hey, hey, big fella. You don't get it.

Abortions here have a eugenic trend in that a disproportionate number of black babies are aborted and this is causing a diminution in numbers in the black community both relatively and absolutely. But the Black caucus supports abortion so I acknowledge my racism - I oppose abortion as such and I oppose the eugenic trend. See how we're racist up here?
And the rest is all the same.
The schools were closed in the black community areas for longer than anywhere else in Wisconsin causing learning loss in the group. But the Black caucus supports Tony Evers, an educrat, and the Teachers Union and they supported closing the schools in the black community for longer than elsewhere so I acknowledge my racism (what such opposition is called) for opposing disproportionate school closings.
Forty per cent of black male students in Wisconsin don't even graduate from high school. But the Black caucus supports Tony Evers, who wrote the curriculum, and the Teachers Union which runs the public schools so I acknowledge etc., blah, blah for thinking the schools have not done their job. No true DEI person would ever think so.
"Police reform" in Milwaukee has increased homicide deaths but increased them solely among the members of the black community, a problem specific to Wisconsin. But Mandela Barnes and the Black caucus support police reform as we do it here so I acknowledge that WisconinWoke, our very own ideology, requires that nothing should be said in Wisconsin about this reality, so by saying it I racism blah, blah.
Ugly realities. And there's a lot more. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Now use what you have learned, Wendybar, to put perspective on what we are being told about Ukraine by the same exact people behind impeachment and Russiagate. Why did they blame the election on Putin who had nothing to do with it. It’s a fucking border dispute over a Russian speaking enclave, and whatever you may think about the referenda, this enclave could not have kept up a war for eight years to defend itself without broad popular support.

I used PP 1-2 times per year; will have to forgo whatever good or service requires it. If enough people quit, including some regular users. maybe they and others will hesitate before doing such idiotic things. or a competitor will spring up.

Slightly OT- I had a minimal cost intro WaPo 1 year subscription ($1/mo I think). They sent me email saying it would be $120 a year, billed automatically, of course. I said no thanks, told them too much $. Auto response was 50% discount, $60/year. Still no. Now I've received 2 emails offering $40/ year. Still no.

A 'tim in vermont' link is "probably a hoax"? That's a good candidate for "least flabbergasting news in the history of the world". The only surprising thing about that is that he admits it this time.

I'm still waiting for him to (a) admit that the Ukrainian constitution does not in fact have a racial purity or eugenics clause, and only looks that way if you take a phrase totally out of context, (b) tell us where he got that particular poisonous little talking point, and (c) tell us what steps he's taken to avoid being deceived again. (To judge by this latest admission, no steps at all.) I think we have a right to know: especially point 'b'. The more obvious lies he repeats, the more some of us will wonder if he's paid to repeat them, and by whom.

His obviously fraudulent claim that Ukraine has put Elon Musk on an enemies list for assassination looks like it may have come from Kim DotCom, a demented fruitcake who claims to be on the Ukrainian death-list himself, along with over 300 children! That's certainly the only place I've run across it. I do try to stay away from the neighborhoods where demented fruitcakes hang out, but it's impossible to avoid them completely, even in the nicest neighborhoods, like Althouseville.
