"Providers of sex education in schools are teaching children that prostitution is a 'rewarding job' and failed to advise a 14-year-old girl having sex with a 16-year-old boy that it was illegal."

"Outside organisations teaching children about sex also promote 'kinks' such as being locked in a cage, flogged, caned, beaten and slapped in the face, The Times has found.... Last night campaigners said that 'inclusiveness is overriding child safeguarding' and that the materials were 'bordering on illegal.' This week Rachel de Souza, the children’s commissioner, revealed that she would review sex education being taught in schools after Miriam Cates, an MP, was contacted by a parent whose nine-year-old child came home 'shaking' and 'white as a sheet because they’d been taught in detail about rape.'  Relationship and sex education (RSE) became compulsory in English secondary schools in 2020, with many contracting out the teaching. Since then an industry has sprung up of providers who produce resources and go into schools to teach sex education and gender issues... The Proud Trust produced a range of resources called Alien Nation that asked primary schoolchildren aged seven to 11 whether they felt closest to 'planet boy, planet girl, planet non-binary.' It also asks: 'Which planet were you sent to as a baby' and 'What would your ideal planet be like?'"

There are lots of comments at that link. The one with the most up-votes is: "The things that are going on are barely distinguishable from grooming."

The part about prostitution as a "rewarding job" was about a post at a website, Bish, "an online guide to sex and relationships for children aged over 14," written by Justin Hancock, who "teaches sex education in schools and provides teacher training on sex education."
In [a] post on the site, a reader wrote to say that she felt “dirty” after being coerced into having sex for money. Hancock replied: “There are many many people doing sex work who do enjoy what they do — even if they don’t necessarily enjoy the sex. It can be a really difficult job but many people find it rewarding — just like other jobs.

“This is especially true if sex workers mainly have good clients, which I don’t think you do. If you did want to continue, maybe you could get better clients?”

When I was in college, pot smoking was so common and accepted that kids would sometimes forget that it was illegal. Maybe it works the same with child prostitution.

This seems reasonable. Things are barely able to be distinguished from themselves.
If something IS something.. It will look A LOT like itself.

then someone said that this stuff was bordering on illegal.
Do they mean, so close to illegal; that it was staying with illegal, and getting meals from illegal?
You know? Room and Board?

Take sex education out of schools. They've demonstrated beyond the slightest doubt that they can't be trusted to handle it without outraging most of the parents of the children they teach.

There's no reason it needs to be taught in school. Parents can handle it however they believe it should be done. And if kids get no sex-ed, it's hardly the end of the world. It's a subject about which they are perfectly capable of learning on their own. They could hardly make more of a hash of it than the education establishment has.

It was 1992 when I was sent to collect some workbooks for refugees from a "multicultural education publisher." He was a flagrantly gay man living in a very expensive house -- big money in multicult educational publishing. Probably 60 to 90 bucks per thin sex "workbook." He bemoaned the limits on sexual explicitness being placed on the workbooks to make them sensitive to other cultures.

Apparently, our children were free pickings.

Though, so were many refugees. Atlanta's gay predators loved them some Vietnamese boys. I counseled one who had been handed around quite a bit and had been told you could only catch AIDS from women. We didn't know the kid's real age because they were told to lie to fit the parameters of Operation Homecoming, but I'd have put him at 14, 15 tops.

Remember, this was two decades ago. And any group or elected official who objected was deemed a Nazi.

It's too bad we didn't listen to Tipper Gore, let alone Phyllis Schlafly.

Why is he blaming the unhappy sex worker for picking the wrong clients? Wouldn't everyone be happier doing business only with wealthy, pretty people who treat us with respect? It's not like s/he had access to better clients but intentionally chose the ones who were less appealing. Does he even address the coercion part of the complaint? Being coerced into sex work sounds more like human trafficking than it does a problem of picking the wrong clients.

This is true; I know this from having interviewed many prostitutes as part of an investigation I handled a few years ago. The business is very different now than in the streetwalker days.

But there is NOOOO way this topic should be broached with anyone underaged.

Watch to see who comes out defending this stuff, promoting it, denying there is an issue, and tries to shut down dissenting opinions.

I don't think we have enough lightposts in Western countries to hold all of those who should be hanging by their ankles right about now.

Fortunately, I think my grandkids are just old enough to avoid this crap in California schools. My formerly leftist daughter, who is now a mother and says it changed her life, is going to home school her daughter.

The people doing this aren't teachers. They are at best activists, and a good portion are more likely as enthusiastic for their particular kink as fans of the northern bobwhite.
Let the biology teacher do a couple days sex ed. Tell those in the pervert racket to take a hike and get a real job.

At my kids school, k-8, there were parents in the school and in the classrooms, pretty much all the time. I don't think a school could get away with this crap in that culture.

Comment: ' Why is he blaming the unhappy sex worker for picking the wrong clients? '

MY question: Why would anyone assume a child has the agency and autonomy for picking clients rather than being on hire and assigned, willy nilly, to clients of another's choosing?

(It's probably un-woke to use the word "pimp" outside of Rap lyrics, right?)

Unlike education, "School" is a comparatively recent phenomenon. It was invented by the Prussians to convert peasants into factory workers and soldiers. It was then brought to the US by shitheads from Massachusetts, the Mordor of America. Because intelligent women who wanted to work had few other options, most schoolteachers were intelligent women, so it kind of worked out OK for a while. But that was a long time ago. Nowadays, School = Evil.

Sort of parallel to thinking about 10 years olds consenting to abortion:

"[school ]failed to advise a 14-year-old girl having sex with a 16-year-old boy that it was illegal."

The newspaper failed to determine whether the illegality arises from prostitution (sex for hire) or simply the violation of cultural norms, enshrined in local law in many so-called "Bible Belt" jurisdictions, that teenagers can't legally consent to sex AT ALL.

Lots of wrinkles in local law. A 14 year old females may be "protected" from adult males but not other teenaged males (So called "Romeo and Juliet" laws) Local law might protect 14 year old females but assume 14 males can consent (and often eagerly do.) There are even jokes about "carrying gulls across stately lions for immortal porpoises" arising from the intersection of state and federal laws where a minor might willingly consent in her home state but be regarded as a incompetent victim if removed to another
state.

I bet there are semester long law school courses available for all this kind of stuff.

Several weeks ago the London Times shelved its informative comments section without an explanation for why they did this.

I once posted something that one of their woke comments monitors didn't like...who inadvertently emailed me that my comment had been deleted...with his posting handle. Exposing that he was anonymously posting himself while he was also monitoring posts.

Commercial comment monitoring is a big business.

Alaska poll: Murkowski wins, Palin loses?
ALLAHPUNDIT Jul 09, 2022

"...But Alaska no longer has the sort of traditional primary that confounded Murkowski in 2010. It has a ranked-choice four-way ballot."

"...The candidate who gets the most first-choice votes doesn’t necessarily win. But the candidate who gets the fewest first-choice votes definitely loses. Which is bad news for Palin and good news for Murkowski."

"...If that [latest poll] result stands up, Palin goes out in the first round — barely, falling two points short of fellow Republican Nick Begich. Begich then goes on to cream the Democrat in the final round, as one would expect in a state as reliably red as Alaska.

But look what happens if Palin edges past Begich for second place in the first round of voting. In that case, the seat goes blue as Palin falls just short against the Democrat in the final round. Why?

Because she’s unpopular. ASR finds her unfavorability rating at 60 percent. Clearly, a huge chunk of Republicans who prefer Palin are willing to vote Begich as their second choice over the Democrat but those who prefer Begich aren’t as willing to choose Palin as their back-up.

The same dynamic that sinks Palin in the House race saves Murkowski in the Senate race. She’s the first choice of around only a third of the electorate but the second or third choice of many, many Democrats and independents, which is good enough to get her reelected..."
