Complimentary hair sniffing in the receiving line?

I hope this thread is free of vitriol. I have shall we say no love for Biden but this is a family affair and let us wish happiness to the couple.

getting married, at the White House?? Will there be Showers? Inappropriate Showers?

rhhardin said...

Yes because that's a good use of taxpayer funds.

Readering said...

Wonder if it's the ceremony or just the reception.

I don’t care what party you belong to this is wrong. The WH shouldn’t be used as a wedding venue. Even if a sitting president was getting married they should have it somewhere else.

How much is this costing taxpayers? What a symbol of nepotism run amok.

That's some Wag the Dog level reality show content, right there.

SHe's the one that Creepy Joe was taking naked showers with, right?

Back in the days of LBJ, Nixon, and Ford, there were White House weddings all the time.

Just one for LBJ and Nixon, as none for Ford.

I wish her and her groom the best, however, she should be thanking the American people for the use of the White House.

Endlessly? I think she garnered the writing word. Shouldn’t it be eternally?

Two weddings is "all the time"? LBJ's *daughter* and Nixon's *daughter*. Granddaughters, not so much.

Maybe they should rent out the White House every weekend for special events, weddings, etc. After all, president Dr. Biden and Joe are at his Delaware nursing home every weekend.

Really? Not that I trust Wikipedia unconditionally, but according to them since WWII there have been a total of five (5):

- 30 July 1942: Harry Hopkins married Louise Gill Macy in the Yellow Oval Room. (Hopkins was FDR's foreign liason during WWII and he was living in the White House at the time.)
- 9 December 1967: Lynda Bird Johnson married Charles Spittal Robb in the East Room. (LBJ's daughter.)
- 12 June 1971: Tricia Nixon married Edward F. Cox in the Rose Garden. (Nixon's daughter.)
- 28 May 1994: Anthony Rodham married Nicole Boxer in the Rose Garden. (Hillary's brother.)
- 19 October 2013: Pete Souza married Patti Lease in the Rose Garden. (Obama's chief photographer.)

I’m cool with the White House as a venue, but it shouldn’t be free.

"was Hunter invited?"

Was the Arkansas branch of the family invited?

farmgirl said...

Being Catholic, one would think a church wedding. Reception at the White House.
Maybe they’ll hold it on the fake WH set Biden uses for pressers.

I agree with Leland. If family members are going to use the White House as a wedding venue, but not one cent from the taxpayers should pay for it--and the couple/family should pay for all the costs, including rent, security, food, etc.

How did Naomi feel when her Dad was notoriously having coked-up sex with her aunt?

Maybe this is a consolation prize for being Hunter’s daughter.

Good point. But to all the killjoys here, the White House is the president’s home. It’s unbelievably petty to complain that a man is holding his daughter’s wedding in his own home.

Reception Nov. 19. After the election but before the impeachment.

The American People are locked away from the Peoples House, the Capitol. As long as we are locked away, there should be no special family celebrations in the White House. If we aren't welcome, neither are they.

More than 7 months from now? That's pretty optimistic unless Jill has cleared it with Harris, who is at least as likely as Joe to be president at that point.

RoseAnne said...

Although the reception may be held in the White House, it doesn't mean that the taxpayers are footing the entire bill for the event. In theory, the families should be covering expenses for food, etc. Given Hunter, her father, is selling paintings for hundreds of thousands of dollars a painting, he should be able to cover it.

Weddings at the White House is not a big issue because they are rather infrequent. I am more curious about "other" people who live full-time at the White House. This is not just a shot at Michele Obama's mom. Many presidents have had various friends and staff (lovers?) live full-time there over the decades.

I would rather question why Hunter Biden's Secret Service detail is spending $30K per month to provide security for him. For that matter why does a 50+ year old man get Secret Service protection at all? Cover them through college fine, but after that? How long did Valerie Jarrett's Secret Service protection last? How many other staff get it?

I recognize various other politicians get police protection. Steve Scalise's police protection saved not only his live during the baseball field shooting but a number of others as well. But who is monitoring who gets that protection and what is the cost?

The good news is that will be seven months that Joe and his big rig won't be holding up traffic.

Given the string of Hunter revelations, I would have thought the last thing the D's would want is any public connection between Biden and his family. Unfortunately for his granddaughter, all this does is brighten the spotlight on the Biden clan at a time when a little darkness would be of benefit. His handlers must not have been consulted and are probably not happy.

Critter said...

Is the CCP covering the costs? Someone should read the partnership agreement with Biden’s crackhead son.

The wedding would be the perfect place for Hunter to be arrested. Maybe Joe too?

Four weddings of presidential daughters in eight years did seem like a lot, whether or not they were White House weddings. I was surprised to find out that three of the couples were still married, and surprised that it was Luci Johnson, who seemed more grounded and down to earth than Lynda with her White House wedding, who had been divorced and remarried. Surprised too that Julie Nixon Eisenhower's daughter is now married to a woman, though I suppose that is the norm by now.

Naomi Biden and Tiffany Trump were classmates and pals at U of P. I wonder if Tiff will be coming to the White House for the wedding and hope it won't be the first time she's been there.
